Considering the ammount of snakes on camera, they really failed to print anything relevant distributing -1/-1 counters. Let's see if HOU does it better.
(not saying GB is oppressive or anything, but -1/-1 counters were a not-minor part of the last set and should've had at least some kind of impact)
I like the variation of these GPs. Standard looks fine. Losing to Ulamog or GB/Vehicles nut draws can be unfun. But There is diversity in the two top 16s we have.
UR Control is currently ranching Esper Vehicles on camera in the top 8.
Kinda fitting that it would be 1/3rd of the 24 decks in the top 8s and win 1/3rd of the GPs this weekend I suppose.
It was 25% of the Day 2 field in Manila (~ double the 2nd most popular deck being played) & 43% of the Day 2 field in Amsterdam (~ triple the 2nd most popular deck being played). Still waiting on the stats from Omaha.
Wow, GP Amsterdam and GP Manila's results look great. I mean there's only one Marvel deck in each of them.
This leads me to think that maybe Marvel isn't as broken a deck as people make it out to be and it only keeps topping so frequently here in the US because US players keep playing it in large numbers?

Its still being played in large numbers everywhere. See my post above where 1/3 of the Day 2 decks from Amsterdam/Manila were Marvel decks. There has been an uptick in blue base strategies though (specifically in Asian regions), and could part of the reason they arent reaching the final tables as frequently. Esper/Jeskai Vehicles, UW Flash, etc. Not sure those decks are the best vs the rest of the field though.
Still unfun to lose to a die roll you can't really stop unless you're playing counters. Every pro NOT playing Marvel was prepared to the gills for it and Marvel can still fail to kill you on turn 4 and durdle. I think math caught up with Marvel this weekend but it will continue to suck (and get refined) and should still be banned. Cheating crap in with non-interactive energy is bad no matter how much Maro likes his baby.
Is you look at the sideboards of B/G decks you see 6-5 pieces of marvel hate. 4 Transgress the mind, 2 disposess.
Add to that decks splashing blue in already three colour decks just to play rebuke or negate or even spell queller I'd say the format is definately warped.
Shame on me, an unpaid volunteer, for not gathering information and compiling it for the masses so they can easily distill information without having to open a google search bar.
GP Omaha had the most Marvel decks played. The other two GPs had one in each in the Top 8. Americans like to use the most busted deck in the format but it's not as warping as Saheeli Cat. You don't lose once you have that combo out; I've beated Marvel decks after they spin five-six times and find nothing of use (this is with Zombies).

I'm not sure if I see Marvel being banned. After all it isn't dominating most of these events and is inconsistent on its own. It's nowhere near as guaranteed as Copycat's turn 4 kill.

Just kill the snek. Problem solved. Playing Fatal Push or Unlicensed Disintegration is the best way to do it.

It did well in Omaha but not in the other two GPs this weekend
