Once again, GB constrictor decks dominate day 1. Predictable, and it all but confirms the rock/paper/scissors triangle that is Mardu Vehicles/GB constrictor/Jeskai saheeli.
It's funny you say that because plenty of other decks have been doing well on camera, and the only Saheeli decks we know of to go undefeated after round nine were a 4C Marvel list and a traditional 4C list. Jeskai Saheeli was barely on stream.
I didn't catch much of the stream but there seemed to be noticeable deviations from what the tier 1 looked like a week before. I hope to see more of the event today.
There's really nothing left to say about the format, it is diverse in G/B and the many iterations of Saheeli. There are tier 2 decks but they don't consistently beat any of the top 3. If you are competing at the PPTQ level or IQ level these are the decks you play or aim to beat. That's it.
What beats G/B anything? U/B Control; But U/B has a terribad Mardu match up G1 and G2 they board in a metric ton of Planeswalkers SB'ing is rough if you don't know the list. Same is true about the Saheeli Match up, while it gets better I've lost to multiple walkers and Spell Quellers along with the many variants that use the Virtuoso.
Izzet Tower has felt decent, with tweaks to the removal suite, namely the inclusion of Galvanic Bombardment again. It's doesn't have the best G/B anything match up, and the mardu match up is really rough. Scrounger G1 is almost impossible to handle without Towers on board. After SB is can get better. The Saheeli match up is merely okay.
Sulati Delirium control is on the uptick, although it's got many holes in it, it's powerful. I'm still not entirely sure what the best list it, but there's room for improvement.
Zombie Emerge is a powerful deck that loses to itself, and I think this is the deck that is the best positioned against the field but you do draw like POO more often than not.
Day 1 coverage will start at 10AM ET.
Day 2 coverage start time is unclear. My guess is that it will start at 10AM ET.
