I want to have this discussion. I have a hard time seeing all the lists that are currently running Void Shatter. I understand that exiling things is neat right now, but what does it hit that you actually want to exile?
Scrapheap Scrounger? Nearly the only time people cast it is on turn 2, so shatter doesn't hit it.
Sure it matters in the B/G Delirium matchup because they can bring stuff back with Lilly, but you're not going to keep them off delirium with a Void Shatter.
I guess you can argue that it can take stuff away from Torrential Gearhulk, but that's a weak argument to me because why would you let Gearhulk resolve if you're running counters?
Now I'm not going to make the claim that the Awaken on Scatter to the Winds is a huge deal, but there is one major difference that is a huge deal: Shatter gets countered by Ceremonious Rejection in games 2 and 3.
I can see an argument for having a few scatter to the winds in the side if you expect a lot of copies of ceremonious rejection, but I just find the exile clause to be a bit more relevant in most matches

Actually, not having to deal with an Ishkanah twice is pretty relevant.
Don't solve the same problem twice, place Void Shatter.

What cards are you exiling outside of my examples to make it relevant then?
the biggest deal is in a fight with Delirium decks that will make you fight the same creature over and over again.
In a lot of cases it wont matter at all.
If someone brings in Ceremonious Rejection against a deck that has 4 Void Shatter , its a terrible sideboard choice, and it will more likely hurt them having counters that dont hit anything else, while you can just go next level and put in other relevant spells.

Your examples are bad as thats the decks counterspells are naturally bad against, very fast decks like BR / WR(b) you want other stuff than counterspells anyway.
In the end, the difference in counterspells in the 1UU slot isnt that big, but exiling cards is potentially relevant and doesnt cost you something extra (Awaken is most of the time just terrible as its way too expensive, while in theory it looks usefull, it usually very bad).
But theres the new counterspell, which seem to be very very good and flexible.
As long as Delirium is a deck then Void Shatter is miles better. If something happened like, say, Rest in Peace got reprinted, then things might be a little different, but the exile clause is super relevant in a format with zero graveyard hate.
As a Delirium player I laugh off a counter that doesn't exile, because I have a ton of ways to get it back. Exiling limits my options. You want an option to Awaken 3? Ohhh, scary, a 3/3 land against an army of spiders, Mindwrack Demon, Grim Flayer, etc.
Actually, I think Disappearing Act is the most underrated cancel in the format right now. When I first saw it, I thought "why would they make Cancel with a downside? However, there are so many power ETB effects in standard right now it becomes easy to see how this card can abuse. I play a more casual deck, as my secondary deck, that uses Disappearing Act with Spell Queller (and other exile until leaves cards) with Ulamog's Nullifier (and other processor cards) to get lots of ETB triggers to either get more exiles or get more processor triggers. It's pretty strong for being an untuned casual play. It could be put in the stronger control/UW Flash lists to get more Avacyn indestructible triggers, more gearhulk triggers, etc. When people wake up to it, it will be the hard counter of choice.

Prized Amalgam? People don't cast it.

Somebody convince me that I'm wrong please.

Reality is only what man allows it to be. Few shape it so that many may accept it.
