Ooh. You are game. What's the most likely "other" deck? RWx Vehicles I guess?
Uh-oh. Have I stepped in it already? These definitions quickly become a morass. I consider both RWx Vehicles and RBx Madness (the deck you've been working on) as aggro, even though they are midrangier than say, Wescoe's Wb Humans. For other, I immediately think RG or BG Marvel Delirium, but I'm wishcasting at this point. Locally, GB and UW seem so beatable, though. I also imagine a GP field as more diverse than an SCG open, but that could be wrong.
These definitions, though. It sounds like you don't consider RWx Vehicles an aggro deck. I was thinking I would take the Mardu-splash-U from the Pro Tour top 8 as an aggro deck even. But I fear that arguing classifications could derail the thread, so your initial question makes for clearer answers.
Might be a translation error there. I mean you are bold to predict 4 decks other than BG/UW in the Top8.
I think Rx Aggro is probably the easy call (probably RW of some form). Though I'm hoping for something spicy like monoblack Eldrazi.
Yeah, just my being separated by a common language. Since I had already called both aggro and control as "other" decks, I thought you were looking for a third "other" deck in addition to aggro and control.
The fact that people don't think this format is diverse is hilarious. This is absolutely one of the most diverse standards we've had since Battle for Zendikar came out.
I haven't seen all the top 8 matches but this GP was a pretty huge shakeup. the discovery and popularization of RG marvel was probably one big catalyst that forced people to look at other options besides BG delirium.
I also used to be of the opinion that UW flash is simply the best deck in the format - silly me. after playing with RB aggro on MTGO I've learned how wrong I was. RB just dismantles the UW flash decks and it's not even close.
I'm expecting RG marvel to pick up even more popularity from now on out since it's such a powerful deck, and has a good MU against RB and many other super fast aggro decks.
not sure why people are surprised marvel decks came back, BG delirium was #1 enemy and everyone knows it has a godawful matchup against anything to do with aetherworks, so the only thing you really need to worry about is figuring how to make an aetherworks list that isn't soft to countermagic or being ran over by fast aggro.
The surprising thing was that those decks found a way to make the UW Flash matchup decent. That had previously been the main thing keeping them in check, and Whirler Virtuoso doesn't exactly look like the strongest card on paper.

Just an anomaly. GP Madrid must be all WU and GB. Oh. 4 Marvel, 2 WU, Zombies and BR Aggro.

maybe this format won't be as solved as previous weeks would have suggested
