Hi guys, I need to decide on a deck for a tournament.
I don't normally play standard and can use Help picking one that has the most stable results.
I own most of these three decks, but not sure wich to pick.
Playing pptq this weekend. Down to two choices. Mono u prison which is fun and very good against the meta. It can handle w/g and humans well and loses to b/w only if the hand disruption gets crazy.... or I could play grixis control which I think is generally more powerful as it's basically a good stuff deck but seems bad against w/g. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.
Hello guys, I am struggling to come to terms with deck creation. I have played a few drafts and feel I have enough material to start trading for a standard deck. As a brand new player I would rather not get cards older than Shadows over Innistrad... I would love to just bring big beat stick creatures....
Would you consider the card I linked above to be a viable strategy to buyild around. I am trying to get big creatures on the board as easy as possible in addition I would use spells to simply delay delay delay.
As a first timer, you'd be hard pressed to make a viable deck on your own. I suggest browsing the Budget forum and discussing some ideas there.
This.
I'm a first month player and tried building my own deck with massive booster pack buying. Big mistake. Lots of money and a bad deck.
Went and found a budget mono red burn deck and found u already had some some of the cards. Dumped another 50 bucks into it and got my first ever win at FNM last night and grabbed at least a win in every one of my matches against some tough decks.
Moral of the story; go find a simple white mono human or red mono burn deck and put it together. There's not a lot of tough mechanics with these decks and they are fun to play.
Hey guys, old Faeries, Caw Blade, U/w Control, U/b Control 2010 era player here who switched to Esper Draw go in modern. Looking to get back in to standard but only really looking to play blue based control if possible.
Saw a u/r eldrazi deck with void shatter and kozilek's return plus walker's that wafo-tapa had played, but looks like Ugin isn't legal anymore. Where do I start? and what's actually competitive?
Please reply to this so I get the notification. Thanks in advance!

unfortunately there's not really a deck like that in Standard right now. There are a couple of flash-type decks but they're more heavily creature-based than things like the URdrazi deck. That's the closest thing, but I think I would recommend checking out UW Spirits instead. It plays a flash-critter game similar to the old Faeries deck, and while it's not Esper Draw-Go Control, it'll probably remind you of the good old days of Spellstutter Sprite and Mistbind Clique nonetheless.
Hey everybody, I'm thinking of buying a decklist and taking it to an FNM event. I really want to play the B/G Seasons Past deck Finkel used in Pro Tour SOI before the Origins cards rotate out but I'm also considering temurge and B/G delirium. Seasons past is what I'm leaning towards for budgetary reasons and because this is my first competitive magic event and I think it would be fun to try out in standard before rotation. That being said , I have a few questions to help me decide whether I wanna pull the trigger on buying this particular list.
1. Are there any new cards in EMN that improve on the B/G Seasons Past shell?
2. Are there any new top standard decks or additions to decks that completely womp on B/G SP. There's a lot of ramp going on with the new delirium based decks and I'm just curious if you think it still has the late game advantage and would put up a decent result if I run into any. I could also see Emrakul's Mindslaver ability as a big problem for Seasons Past itself, i.e. Cast it and choose not to return anything from the yard, or dark petitioning a land something along those lines.
3. Any tune ups to the decklist for the new format? infinite obliteration is a must against eldrazi ramps, maybe play 2x? I could see Sultai seasons past control being powerful against this field, would it be worth it to splash blue and include Summary Dismissal, and some counter magic for Coax?? Probably in the sideboard? Thx
Guys, I've been out of standard for the last month or so. I've procured a SDCC2016 Liliana, The Last Hope, and I want to put her in a standard deck. Is GB Delirium the best type right now? I dont necessarily want to copy a pro deck, but something like: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/archetype/standard-b-g-delirium-27294#paper
It seems like that would work best, and as a bonus GB are my favorite colors.
Ugin is going to get really bad once all the fatties are colourless. I sold all mine. Sell sell sell!
He's going to be absolutely rotten. Hangarback walker has already nerfed him quite significantly. I reckon he'll be $3 junk within 2 months of rotation
Mono red madness is decent right now against most of the meta except anything black (And BG Delirium is big now). The cards are super cheap. However, you have to really know the format and how to play against the biggest 'known decks'. So, unless you are willing to put in a lot of practice & studying I will agree with sirplayalot11.

Rose tint my world, keep me safe from my trouble and pain.
As I see it, even the professionals have trouble telling what's good when they see the spoilers for a new set. Trying to guess what decks will be tier 1 after Kaladesh hits seems fraught with possibilities for misfiring.
I think it really comes down to personal preference: on the one hand is brewing and avoiding picking up rotating cards (Languish); on the other is playing a deck with a proven pedigree. If you aren't as competitive, you could get the GW Tokens deck and just plug away, adding a few Ishkanah. More competitively, you could go all in and eat your rotational losses on the Languishes. Another way to hedge would be with Pascal Maynard's Abzan deck from GP Portland. It has the Lilianas and Gideons that you probably want anyway. It only runs three Languishes, and you could probably experiment with using only two, depending on your competitive needs.

That's why aggro and midrange tend to be prevailent early on. It's hard to go wrong with simple math, but playing a control game is much harder. There's also hype to deal with as everyone wants the latest thing that looks good, like Chandra, Torch of Defiance. In many ways it's better to look to the old than the new. I know I've been wanting to play big red for a bit and the fact they printed Combustible Gearhulk in the same set as a ramp walker encourages that direction, but then when I try building it, the deck still doesn't feel like it competes with WR Artificer goggles or WR vehicle builds.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
Try a slightly bigger WR artifacts deck. Play their best cards, skip their lesser cards in favor of more medium-size things. You'll outclass the aggro deck and you'll have room to play Chandra and Combustible. It won't be the *ideal* Gearhulk because it will deal say 6 on average, but a 6/6 first strike double-bolt you isn't bad. Of course, beating them might leave you relatively weaker to other decks.

I’m looking at buying into Standard properly for the first time, and I’m torn between three decks that all appeal; the three decks are Esper Control, UW spirts, and GB delirium – I can’t pick between them though, I wonder which looks the strongest, and if there are any glaring errors in them
The Esper manabase feels clunky and I wonder if it will be shot down before it start by the RG and RW agro decks? This seems popular on tapped out for whatever that may be worth
The spirts one I think looks really strong, I was considering Dovin Baan but he would be the only non-flash thing in it, maybe swapping Avacyn for the Torrential Gearhulk as a finisher (or even a couple of each. This was my pick for last standard before I had to stop and looks like it has some nice new tools
The Delirium one also looks strong, but budget means I have had to cut Liliana for now, I have added the new scrapheap scrounger as an extra card type and an early nuisance (ultimately I guess id look to trade or slowly buy into maybe three copies)
Hey there o/
I'm really new to magic and don't know what to play (or even how to play). I know from previous cards games that i enjoy fast paced and/or strategic decks, themed or not themed. So i want some suggestions on what decks to play and if there a place where i can test it. Thanks!!

I'm looking to play GB, I just don't know whether to play Aggro or midrange and whether to play grim flayer or sylvan advocate. I travel for work so going into surprise metas.
I have sold out entirely, but Kaladesh reeled me in. So far I have put together 2 fairly budget decks consisting of mostly Kaladesh cards just to start playing again. One of them is a Metalwork Colossus deck and the other is the R/G energy with Pummeler. I was wanting info on what deck direction I should go as I get more into it, based on longevity in standard play. I don't wanna drop 400-500 on a deck that will be done on next rotation. I would like a control oriented deck that doesn't use white.... Gideons are pretty crazy expensive. Well I will take any input. Good question. Well written. Good discussion. There's a thread for that. Thanks! - hoser2

I'm a modern player looking to move into standard (I have 3 modern decks and enough staples to trade into others and whatnot).
In modern I have Death's Shadow Zoo, Elves, and UR Delver -- I like these strategies but am open to trying anything.
I would like suggestions on a deck that has enough non-rotating staples that I'll be set-up all-right for when Kaladesh comes out.
My current standard staples are 2x Declaration in Stone and a few of the SoI duals.
Thank you.
