Thank you for the info. Most of SOI should be spoiled here in the next couple weeks correct. Then people will start posting deck ideas how do I tell which ones will be the most viable decks that away I can pre-order the correct cards?

People have started to post ideas in Standard New Card Discussion already.
If anyone could tell you which decks would be most viable, then what's the fun in exploring new formats?
Basically, card evaluation can be hard and, often, the majority of people are wrong. Sometimes you just have to develop good instinct. Even if you do, sometimes you'll whiff on a card -- and that's ok -- you've learned something for future reference.
Hey, I really want to start the standard and I look for a deck for long term (for post rotation without KtK and FRF), I saw Eldrazi decks (Mono U and UR) but they do nothing outside MTGO.
my question is : Do I need to wait for SoI and make a BfZ/OGW/SoI deck or jump into Eldrazi decks (are they will be better after the rotation or not ?)

It's really hard to speculate into what Standard will look like after SOI releases. Even pros often get it wrong.
It wouldn't hurt to pick up BFZ/OGW Eldrazi stuff as it will be playable in standard for another year -- but whether it's "playable" or not is yet to be seen.
If you want to get in the ground level of brewing, take a peek at our SNCD section. Maybe it'll inspire you to brew or inspire you to make predatory Eldrazi decks with rotation in mind.
So I got $70 jeskai black and r/b dragons built for standard I've gotten back into standard I'm avoiding modern for awhile until I get 4 goyf. So I can trade off jeskai and dragons for alot of decks I also own 4 of each fetch land expect delta in which I own 3. I also own 2 den protector 4 rhinos and many other good cards and I recently sold my playset of jace for a playset of
Liliana of the veil. I'm looking for a midrange deck with a very good late game and can hold against atark red. Or I could play atarka red any who I just want a very good deck that I can play without jace
So, I'm at an impasse. On the one hand, I'm torn between playing U/W control and W/B control. On the other, I would love to play something similar to how humans ran back during SoM/Innistrad block. I just haven't seen anything that looks close. Help?

Been playing casual magic for about a year and modern for around 8 months. My buddy and I decided to finally get into standard and we would both like to play competitive decks under the $400 range. We already have a decent # of cards due to our modern decks. Between us we have:
UG Infect (with the cards for BUG/BG)
Naya Burn
Mardu Burn
Small Naya Zoo
Ad Nauseam
Mono U Tron
8 Rack
WB Eldrazi
Merfolk
My favorite deck is probably Mono U Tron or maybe UG Infect and my buddy loves his Merfolk (tribals in general).
What decks in our budget range would you guys recommend that will still be standard legal after SOI drops? The decks must be competitive. Thanks!
I played Standard last in the Innisrad - Dragons Maze block and it was one of theach greatest gaming experiences of my life. However I quit standard and wanted to play Modern do to non rotating. Well I now have a job to support mtg and want to get back into standard.
Type of player- spike first and foremost. Johnny probably second. I have almost every modern staple besides any Eldrazi as I quit during that time, glad to see them gone in modern. I gravitate to combo as I play Storm, eggs, Twin (rip), Jeskai Ascendency combo (rip, my favorite modern deck) and boggles are my mains in modern. I also like control a lot too but it was kinda dead in modern. However I really like control in standard. Last deck I played in standard was Junk Rites (Thragtusk, Un burial rites, and loved that deck) but at the very end switched to esper Control.
Budget: no limt, I just want to play the best deck since like I said, I'm a big Spike. I do own a lot of modern staples so i'd like to start off with some I own already if possible or a deck that can share some cards that is used in modern as well.
Lastly, I know the new set is coming into rotation and I was wondering if I should wait and see which archetype becomes good and wait it outo for a little.
Edit: almost forgot! I bought a box of Origins today to help get started, looking to get a Jayce, but didn't. The notable card I pulled was the Liliana but not sure if I got any other good ones. I can check tomorrow though
Tldr
Budget: unlimited
Cards I own: any cards from the modern decks listed above+ most staples that isn't Tron or Eldrazi. No cards from Battle for Zen.
Colors: blue is fav but any
Level of competitiveness: competitive at FNM and plan to get into trying out PTQs
Anyways, thanks in advance, I'm excited to learn this format again!
Hey all, been playing Modern for a while now but wanted to branch out and get into Standard, as well. I play Merfolk in Modern, but would be fine playing a different kind of deck for Standard. I have some Standard cards, and would be interested in some sort of Planeswalker-based control deck. I currently have 2 Ob Nixilis Reignited, 2 Kiora, Master of the Depths, 4 Gideon, Ally of Zendikar, and a Jace, Unraveler of Secrets and Sorin, Grim Nemesis. I'm planning on playing around with a Temur Clue-Grid deck that I already had most of the pieces for, but I'd love to try out another type of deck as well. For now I'd prefer to not invest heavily in the next rotating pieces, so no Jace VP-decks, please! I do have a playset of Hangarback Walkers though. Thanks!
I'm having some trouble figuring out what to play after not having played for a while. I last played some drafts in the Theros block but I have almost no cards from anything save for a little w/r I drafted last Friday.
I'm looking for a deck, preferably without black, that I can pick up a budget version of for ~50 euros, that may not *win* me a FNM but will at least give me a chance, which I can build out into a 'proper' deck given more money by buying and trading into better cards.
I've been eying some form of white humans or some variation of u/r tempo but I'm having a hard time evaluating whether a budget list is viable for these decks.
I'm a long time player that hasn't played standard since force of will was legal. I loved innistrad before and am loving it now. I want to build a competitive standard deck to play at GP nyc with a few friends.
I currently play Wg hatebears/death and taxes in modern and naturally gravitate towards aggro decks with control elements. My idea is to play a rw deck with nahiri powering out madness and wall of resurgence pumping needle spire but am unsure about the format or current meta. I have a good assortment of bfz/oath/soi cards already and a fat trade binder but can't see myself getting a set of avacyns at $40 per.
Friend #1 is a aggro-combo player that naturally gravitates towards red/blue. He's reducing involvement in mtg so his deck needs to be budget minded.
Friend #2 is all over the place in style and interested in a green/black toolbox type deck. He has a young family to support and lacks means so the majority of his deck will be thinly veiled charity from me.
Thanks.

Your success in playing dnt/hatebears is determined largely by your ability to read and prepare for the meta that you will be playing in. Furthermore, it has an absolutely brutal learning curve. Expect to lose; a lot.
Hey everyone, I was hoping for some advice on standard.
My girlfriend and myself are fairly new to magic in general compared to what seems like most of the player base (under two years for me, gf much less) and we started collecting cards really since zendikar. We are mostly edh players, with the exception of doing pre-releases and drafts.
Gf, with insane booster opening skills has landed two avacyns, foil nahiris, Gideon's, Chandra's, jaces, and the vampire from the last set. We sold these though for edh purposes. We have plenty of other rares but those were the big money ones and I'm guessing the power houses of standard?
I was wondering, how good would a deck of standard be with primarily cheap cards going from origins onwards? Can budgets deck compete with these expensive decks (within reason?) if so any suggestions would be great.
I haven't played magick since the original sendi kart rotated and have since sold off my collection of many modern staples that have in the last year and a half gone up in price dramatically (something I regret now) but I want to try getting back into standard by buying a competitive deck. I'm I bit too experienced in magick to feel satisfied at a tournament with a modified intro pack, so I was looking to buy singles to build a tier one or two deck. I enjoyed playing standard June when it was around and also u/w control variants. Interactivity and skill was always fun for me. What could I make for $100. If the deck is more expensive but playable at a cheaper build I'm willing to modify it as I go.

$100? That won't take you very far these days.
Check our proven section. You can modify some of the lists to be cheaper (although be sure to ask about budget options in the budget forum). White Weenies is *cheap* and so is GBWx Displacer Combo. So those are the decks I'd be looking at.
Any advice for 2 return players looking to get back into standard for about $75-$100 each? ideally looking for decks that won't lose a lot of key cards to Septembers rotation.
We have been looking at 4 decks so far all within the price range, but are very very open to suggestions. I normally like combo/interaction decks and my GF likes synergy/tribal decks

I have around 80% of the cards for both 4c Rites and R/G ramp, but only have the funds to finish one at the moment. Which is better?
My meta is part control (grixis, bw, esper) and part tokens, with a few rites/company decks and human aggro. Not much ramp or other midrange. Occasionally there are some random brews.
Right, question time. I've been a long time player but, believe it or not, never touched Standard with a long pole. I only play on MTGO and have played Modern, Legacy and Pauper. I'm now looking at getting solely into Standard since I'm beginning to look at things like MOCS and Standard seems to be the obvious format to maximize my playing chances since most events are Standard.
Where is the question you ask? Well, assume I know how to play the game quite well, but know near to nothing about Standard, what would the best starting point at this stage? Is it better to just wait for the next rotation? I would ideally not be looking into getting into a deck whose entire shelf life is September 2016, ie one that revolves around pieces from Origins and Dragons.
Budget should not be an issue since I can sell my Legacy deck to finance the Standard one. My best results (by far...) are playing things like Burn and Bogles (and yeah, I play them because I really like them, I'm THAT guy).
Bad news for you: Anything resembling burn or bogles are not in standard right now. You could build a deck that focuses on Eldrazi because those aren't in Dragons or Origins. You might enjoy Vampires or Spirits, which aren't great now but I expect they will improve when the next set comes in.

So I am going to a WMCQ in 2 weeks and I have 2 decks that I can play, 4-Color Rites and Grixis Control. I was trying to use MTGPulse.Com/archetypematchups but it is not working. I am expecting a lot of Bant Humans, GW Tokens, 4 Color and W/R Humans. I do not know how well Grixis Control is against them because I haven't played ot much, or how 4C Rites plays against them because at my LGS no one really plays those decks. Any suggestions of what I should play or even another website that will help me beat the meta? (BTW its the WMCQ in the Santa Clara Convention Center hosted by ChannelFireball.)
