Regardless, that Temur vs Heroic match looked pretty harsh for the Temur player. Seemed like he just had no chance.
It's not a great matchup but Mize had very good draws. Both games he was able to "go off" with little bother. Usually the plan is "just race," but if they present a faster clock than you do, there's little to do.

Also, awesome to see the Mardu Dragons player play to his outs and get rewarded.
So G3 of the Finals, was there a lot of misplays or was it just me?
- Obviously attacking the Rhino into Stormbreath then Cruxing after was a misplay, but why crux at all? Your at 19 life and can the only way the dragon attacks is if another Stormbreath gets played to block or a Dragonlord comes in to kill Rhino. If that's the play than the Abzan guy should just pass, take 4 damage, then Crux on his turn to kill both dragons.
- The final attack with both Stormbreaths, Bile Blight gets played, Monstrosity in response on the other dragon was wrong. You monstrosity the dragon targeted by Bile Blight. Doing this gets in 1 more damage as the Abzan guy can't Downfall in response or his Bile Blight has no target and dies from the 2nd Stormbreath. This also gives him a chance to misplay and Downfall in response which then he just dies as the Blight fizzles.

I thought the play was fairly weak. Jon Lim had been impressing me all weekend, mowing through people with Abzan control on camera, but that was certainly a punt and he knew it. That moment was certainly an, "I wish I had that back," and I think on retrospect he would choose to hold the Crux of Fate and try to get a two-fer-one.
Fabilenia had been sloppy all top 8. I presume it was due to the amount of Magic played over the weekend as competitive rounds can be stressful and exhausting, regardless of what exceptionally confident people tell you. He also waaayyy oversideboarded game 2. I would guess the 2nd Destructive Revelry hit the bin for game 3. It's not like Roast doesn't also handle Courser.
Earlier in game 3, Fabilenia should've also just held the Crater's Claws and swung at Elspeth with the SBD. Way easier, saves cards, and lets you hang onto your Claws for Rhino or maybe a 3rd Elspeth.
Either way, it was a bit sloppy but I'd assume exhaustion is a reason for a % of misplays come elimination rounds. It's not like they get the "all day Saturday and rest up for top 8 Sunday" anymore.
Just watched the winner interview, admits to not having played Esper Dragons once. There you go, very easy to make the conclusion here that he had a very easy run through a bunch of Abzan decks because they're so weak to Stormbreath Dragon and DL Atarka.
Is there a deck that can beat all 3 of these giants?
Cyclical metagame but not sure that's a bad thing. Just stick with the deck you prefer and run the gauntlet.
Wrong. People not playing Esper Dragons or U/B control make G/R dragons better. The reason that the current Abzan control is weak against G/R Dragons is because it's tuned to be a more midrangey deck to beat Esper Dragons with main deck Fleecemane lion and foul tongue invocation. Abzan Control only need to cut back on the fleecemane, put Ugin back into the maindeck, play full 4 of thoughtseize and hero's downfall with 1-2 ultimate price and G/R dragons wont stand a chance.
