Well, their format was strange and expensive. You needed to win a small pod in Day 1 to make Day 2. You can choose what format to play in Day 1 (Modern, Standard, Draft, Sealed) then when there are enough interested players you played single elimination until there was a winner. The winnder makes Day 2, which was set to be Standard no matter what. So regardless of how you qualify, you need a Standard deck and need to know how to play it. Also, i think i read you needed to win 2 pods in Day 1 to advance? Entry fees was like $40, so thats steep. If you were trying to qualify for Day 2 but had a bad run, you could have spent $100's of dollars getting eliminated in the first round! Thats insane, it feels like it was a tournament aimed at problem gamblers, lol.

This is not entirely true. Here's actually how the entrance fees and qualification for Day 2 worked.
I would argue the event struggled with location, given how spread out populations are the West -- but there are many factors as to why they didn't have great turnout.
Also, looking at how much money they spent on advertising, I'd have to say that CardAgain should look into hiring a new advertising firm.
I tried tuning in when I had breaks in between rounds on Saturday and Sunday. However, like most MtG tournaments, they had a lot of downtime.
The link for coverge is here.
Day 1 will consist of a buffet of formats.
Day 2 will start at 1pm ET and will be Standard.
Discussion of the standard coverage can occur below. If you want to talk about the modern or legacy coverage we have other forums for that.
There was a reddit thread where the CEO of the promotion company chimed in, as well as one of the 100 or so people who did attend.
