The Invite has already begun as they started with 4 rounds of standard followed by 4 rounds of legacy.
The Invite will reboot on Saturday with 4 rounds of standard followed by 4 rounds of legacy. It will begin at 9am PT.
The Standard Open will begin at 10am PT and will be covered intermittenly -- most likely later rounds and the top 8 (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong).
On Sunday, the Top 8 of the Invite will be beginning at 10am PT. The format will be standard.
For the Open on Sunday, the of the new Day 2 format will last 6 rounds and begin at 9am PT.
Sorry about getting this up late!
Please feel free to discuss standard topics from this event below. If you want to talk about legacy, we have a cool (but different) forum for that.
Players in today's Standard Open (the first two day Open): 450
Players in Day 2 of the Invitational: 99
Players that played in the Standard Open at the last Invitational: 598
Players in the last Standard Open in Seattle in march: 576
Of course a single data point has no strong bearing, but I'd assume SCG will be rather disappointed with the size of this first Open in the new system. Let's see what player opinions on it will be Sunday evening.
they should expect lower numbers as they are running two Premier 5K's on Sunday now instead of one previously. I think the average player will be less likely to play in a two-day tournament and just show up Sunday for a 1-day tournament.

The Invitational had only 273 players - it was a small turn out all around. Keep in mind that there were two other large tournaments this weekend - Cardmageddon in Las Vegas, where numerous players that likely would have gone to a west coast Invitational, like Shahar Shenhar and Brian Kibler, went instead, as well as Grand Prix Baltimore, which attracted most pro players that usually would go to the invitational (like Owen Turtenwald, Reid Duke, and Huey Jensen), as well as numerous east coast players (myself, Gerard Fabiano, Andy Boswell, Pete Ingram, etc) that opted to stay local rather than buy a cross-country flight, which we likely would have done had their not been an east coast GP in easy driving distance.
To put more context to your comparison, the last invitational (New Jersey) had 400 participants. Also, compare this weekend's invitational to the last west coast one, Vegas last December. 298 invi participants, and 527 players for the Standard Open - slightly larger turn out, but not by much, and it wasn't competing with other major tournaments. West coast during holiday season with two other major tournaments the same weekend... I'd say the numbers are actually encouraging, not disappointing, once you account for all these factors.
