Hello, forums. I was wondering if, in my Sultai Delve deck, it would be wise to run 3 copies of Evolving Wilds as temporary substitutes until I can get my playset of Polluted Deltas. I currently have one PD (hence the three EWs), but is it worth it to run them instead of basic lands?
Without seeing your list, I would recommend Jungle Hollow or Thornwood Falls over Evolving Wilds. All 3 come in tapped, but the duals have 2 mana types and gain you a life. Temples fit as well.
I say go for evolving wilds. It's not ideal, but it's (IMHO) a better bet than the lifelands. Especially in sultai where the lifegain is irrelevant due to whip of erebos (if you're running that).
On more card in the yard is often the difference between a game-ending dig through time and a slow grind to your own death.
It's decent as a temporary place holder, but that's all it should ever be. If it's coming in tapped, you're better off just running tri-color Opulent Palace (unless you're already running all 4 of them). Luckily, the longer Khans is out, the more it's printed, and the more its drafted, the more prices will drop. Polluted Delta has dropped $5-7 to around $13-15 since Khans launch, and considering the Onslaught version is currently $50 and peaked over $100, that's not too bad at all.
If your delving, it's an ok place holder, but I would try to shoe horn either Flooded Strand or Bloodstained Mireto fill it's gaps until you got your Delta's, at least that is, if you already have access to them. If your not delving I would move over to either the pain lands, or the lifelands, which ever would do better for you.
im running jund and i have 2 wooded foothills and one bloodstained mire with 2 evolving wilds. i also have a few gainlands and pain lands but don't want too many tapped lands. id have the full set of foothills but budget reasons.
i haven't noticed the wilds slowing me down. i only have two so i dont always see them. also there are times when i dont have a turn one play, or i hit a mystic and will be a mana ahead on my curve. this means i can plan out what turn i will have that etb tapped land. The fetches are going to be better 90% of the time, but the wilds are not as bad in practice as compared to theory, especially when you have a 3 color deck and can get any color.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it put an evasive creature in its deck over a narrow hate card.

If a card isn't worth your opponent removing, it's not worth putting in your deck.
A lot of how well whatever deck handles the cipt depends on the deck itself. I think sultai delve should be fine with them but I wouldn't expect more direct curve out decks with one drops to be nearly so happy with them. So it depends.
