So, these past couple of weeks I've been gathering my resources to build a BUG deck. Some days I feel like control is the way to go, but other days I feel like a Sidisi, Brood Tyrant based deck could be so powerful and fun to play. Anyway, I'm a fan of Dig Through Time and I'm thinking there may be some way to run a deck with it that includes See the Unwritten. I like the potential of digging that far into a deck.
Can this card fit into a control deck as maybe a 2-of? Or is it at home in a mid-range deck? I see it as a good way to find a finisher that's not in hand and also feed into solid delve cards. I'm just wondering if anybody has tinkered with it.
Also, in your opinion, what are the strongest targets for this card in Standard?
You'd need a high creature density to make it good, which kinda rules out control since you're not going to be triggering Ferocious or have a good chance of getting something worth the mana.
Midrange or ramp is probably the way to go. Midrange could have the creature density to make it reliable and the enough creatures to reliably trigger Ferocious, but if you can't trigger Ferocious it would probably be underwhelming. Ramp could curve something like Stormbreath Dragon into See the Unwritten and then drop 15 mana worth of threats on turn 5 and instantly win. Assuming their Stormbreath doesn't get removed in response and they actually hit a good target, but landing a 6-mana Sylvan Caryatid is better than a whiff.
Dig Through Time doesn't really help See the Unseen, but See does fill your 'yard for the Dig, so that's OK.
With Sidisi, it could be good if you have tons of creatures, even if you don't get the Ferocious trigger.
