What were those 0-4 UB controls beating to get here? I don't doubt the skill of these players but damn man they are just getting rofl-stomped. It even died against another durdle deck (Abazan) which is what they should be strong against.
They were 3-0 in draft then burned out pretty quick in constructed. The deck seems powerful but the field is ridiculously biased towards jeskai which it loses to. They were tuned to beat things like G/x devotion.
The U/B deck isn't powerful at all, it's playing Pearl Lake Ancient... I'm not surprised it's 0-4 it seems terrible.
Pearl Lake Ancient seems like a good finisher actually. It's a relatively fast clock and you have a way to protect it even if you have to tap out to play it.
How does a control deck (which competitive events are traditionally skewed towards) ever beat it?
Thank god i got in on it on ground floor. It's price on mgto as just risen through the roof.
Ya, I'm regretting I didn't. I saw it was $4 and thought it was an uncommon so believed it would fall even if it saw heavy play. I just realized today (after it sold out) that it's a rare.
Dig is going to be an all star in every format it's legal... the only thing that might keep it's price down is that Khans is so full of other high dollar cards.
Other than deck techs no decklists are posted until day 3. It will probably be after day 3 that the 18 points or better lists go up. I can save you a lot of trouble though after watching the coverage today. Just go Jeskai... tempo, tokens, burn, aggro, that's literally the entire meta. There's Jeskai and decks that lose to Jeskai.
If you don't like that you could always go combo, of course that's Jeskai too.
Lol...DTT was 4$ yesterday and now it's 16$. Thank god I bought 7 pre-release foils @ 14$ a piece and 8 regular for 3$ a piece. How on Earth people slept on this card I don't know...(maybe it's just my inner blue mage in me that swallows up any imminently playable card draw spells esp. @ 2-4 mana :p).
Here in Europe DTT was even cheaper, I bought my playset for little more than 4 eur. I think the fact that it was no Revelation made people think it was bad.
I feel there are too many "verbal traps" in tournaments. You can say the exact same thing in a number of ways, some of which leads to disqualification. I'm whinging here because, if they disclosed the name of the player, might as well let us know what the "interview" was so we know what's against the rules. This is especially since English is not the first language for most players there.
I don't see what the fuss is about. Not wanting to shuffling your deck when using a fetch land is illegal as it is not a may ability, especially in this case as he would be disadvantaged if he followed the rules.

Brilliant ideas are stupid ideas that worked - Patrick Chapin
Curious to see UB in the field. If it gets to Sunday it will probably be on the back of the pilots running it rather then the deck's merits.

In my dream, the world had suffered a terrible disaster. A black haze shut out the sun, and the darkness was alive with the moans and screams of wounded people. Suddenly, a small light glowed. A candle flickered into life, symbol of hope for millions. A single tiny candle, shining in the ugly dark. I laughed and blew it out.
Many thanks to HotP Studios. Special thanks to DNC for this great sig.

As someone said earlier, decklists are a day three thing.

UB Control in a field of Jeskai Tempo and Combo however...
The err tempo is more like burn... the creatures don't matter as much as 8 cards that do 4 to the face for UB control.
The token builds can be tricky as it can't 1 for 1 them like it wants to but there is always drown in sorrow

Nobody at a pro tour thinks that fetchland resolution is optional. Not speaking English well has no bearing on that.
