Hmm, several top level pros are playing UB control. Strange, I remember saying that was the go to control strategy a while ago. "You should play esper" they said. "Control is dead" they said. "Prognostic sphinx and pearl lake ancient are unplayable" they said. "You're silly for not splashing a third color" they said.

Coming into round 5 we've seen 5 matches so far, all 4 in round 1 and 1 in round 2. Between those 5 matches there have been 6 Jeskai decks... can we get some more variety?
Those U/B decks make me sad. Durdle Durdle Durdle... then have your win condition die to an opponent's loaded hand with removal. I think people are trying too hard to making Prog Sphinx a thing. It is NOT Aetherling guys. It can't beat Butcher or just get swarmed by Rabble. Then Crackling Doom. Been seeing some Pearl Lake Ancients but that guy doesn't seem any better.
Also LOL@Empty the Pits with no counter magic up. That is a crappy way to die.

To the people that say that a card needs to be a higher rarity because of Limited... I hate you guys so much. I present to you with this.
I splash green just so I don't have to run Pearl Lake Ancient, I run Sagu mauler so it doesn't die... however I miss out on dissmal backwaters life. Still I hope to get a pro's spell set up to help me prepare for game day.
So I just built Todd Anderson's UW artifact deck online and immediatly crushed Mardu Midrange. Did someone finally make Ensoul Artifact good?

He did a deck tech on it a couple hours ago, inbetween rounds 1 and 2 I believe check twitch and youtube, I imagine it's up. If not once the replay of day 1 goes up you should be able to find it.
The deck was very inexpensive, outside of the manabase which included Flooded Strand and Mana Confluence I don't think the deck even came to $50. What I can remember of the deck was:
4 Ornithopter
4 Springleaf Drum
4 Hero of Iroas
4 Heliod's Pilgrim
4 Ensoul Artifact
X Ghostblade (I think 4 but not positive)
4 Ensoul Artifact
1 Spectra Ward
1 Singing Bell Strike
What were those 0-4 UB controls beating to get here? I don't doubt the skill of these players but damn man they are just getting rofl-stomped. It even died against another durdle deck (Abazan) which is what they should be strong against.
