And probably a bunch of other removal I am forgetting. For Standard purposes, I would not be concerned. We will get the removal in the first set of Khans.
OMG they didn't reprint Pacifism, pretty surprising since it seems like a Core Set staple. It's never seen much standard play but it's a solid card and I'm sad it won't be in my drafts.
OMG they didn't reprint Cultivate, I love Cultivate and it seems like it would be sweet for it to come back to standard. Plus I need more for EDH.
Biggest shock I found was the fact they actually printed Back To Nature. I understand balancing the format with Deicide, etc.
But did they actually need to go and put that much hate against enchantments....
Ultimately, I am now very curious about what is being printed in the coming sets that merited it.
[Addendum: I understand that alot of decks will also run enchantments and thus perhaps mitigate the effectiveness of this card, but I suspect there will be decks that will take advantage of this in sideboards]

I really hope they reprint Syncopate or a similar 2 mana catch all soft counter. I'm not fond of 3 mana counterspells and I really don't want to jam Negate into my deck. Wizards, MAKE I T H A P P E N ! ! ! ! plz?
So now you can Negate but they don't want you countering creatures? I guess it wasn't widely used and you can use Dissolve in the late game.
They didn't reprint it because they already had Nullify.
but for tempo decks, the difference in UU and 1U is a big deal. Particularly with so much of the mana fixing coming into play tapped right now.
sure control decks can just run removal instead of counters, but as we've already discussed, a lot of the cheap removal, along with other cheap counters like syncopate, are soon rotating. this leaves burn as one of the only early-turn answers to creatures.
This combined with cards like keranos and the fact that anger of the gods may soon be one of the best sweepers in the format suggests to me that wizards is going to push izzet as the colors for control decks post rotation. that may just be wishful thinking, but a man can dream, right?
OMG they didn't reprint Wrath of God. It's been a while since we had that card, right? With Supreme Verdict going out soon, I figured a generic sweeper like that would come in the core set, partly to show new players how boardwipes work. I mean, why not? Planar Cleansing is one thing, but I get the impression that the whole Khans of Tarkir block will be creature-heavy and emphasize armies and aggro. Honestly, I wonder if the "nerf control" trend will accelerate in that block, or if I'm just getting the wrong impression from the preview images (like Sarkhan and the warlord guys with the banners). What's control going to do unless it gets a card like ***?

They wouldn't print Wrath of God either way. They don't like the anti-regeneration clause anymore which is why the introduced Day of Judgment.
Im sure that Khans will have a sweeper just like RTR had one. Printing it in M15 means there would be 8 4-mana sweepers in Standard at once and look at all the people that already cry about Supreme Verdict.
I was so deadset on the idea that they were going to reprint Mutilate again, I bought a playset of the Torment edition. I was fairly sad when I saw the full spoils.
Omg they didn't reprint Tarmogoyf. It's a future-shifted card, that means it has to be reprinted in a Standard set. And besides, it's a New World Order staple.

I don't recall it needing to be printed in a "standard set". It was already reprinted once in Modern Masters, so it needing to be printed in a future set has already been accomplished.
And on another subject...
OMG they didn't reprint Xathrid Necromancer! 'Twas a fun card to play in Standard, and I was hoping it would stay for another year. Oh well...

They did print a few one sided board wipes though, like mass calcify, in garruk's wake. They also printed some "psuedo" board wipe like Ætherspouts and Polymorphist's jest. Could it be that wizards wants everyone to run creature strategies and that they will only allow one sided board wipes as a way to enable control decks to run more creatures?
Oh, right. Well... maybe DoJ in Khans? That sounds fair. I mean, it can be countered and everything, but doesn't require blue and white, just white.
4 mana unconditional board wipes are not a thing of the past. WotC already said they won't be doing them any more. 6+ mana seems to be where they are trying to push them.

All right then. Just as well, because I'm mostly playing Naya Monsters and it will be nearly intact after rotation!

You say that, but for the purpose of balance, you don't want Standard Burn to have access to Searing Spear.
