(Not sure if this is the right section of the Standard forum for this, apologize and wish for it to be moved to the correct area if wrong)
So, we all know the 5 color mythic desires for a spot in Standard. It's unlikely they'll actually be competitive, but is there a spot for Chromanticore in some portion of Standard?
The "Reaping Rainbow" list that peeked up a little bit was a more GR Monster Shell. But is that the right shell? G/W(and potentially Junk) seem like a potential base with Ajani, Mentor of Heroes and potentially the Constellation abilities of Eidolon of Blossoms. The shell effectively has to be Green-based, but what shell seems the best for success?
It's not a particularly strong creature so I doubt a deck would ever succeed with chromanticore as the trump card. Should really have haste and hexproof then we might actually see semi-viable chromanticore decks
it doesn't have haste or hexproof, so you really have to bestow it for it to be effective. With so many instant speed dis-enchants even then it's not likely to hit. I think market festival might be the best way to get a turn 5 bestowed chromanticore, but that probably won't be effective until after rotation.
My friend had an idea where he wanted to bestow it on a basara tree archer or a witch hunter. So he had slyvan carathid gatekeepervine for the mana. I guess market festival works as well. I guess it will never truly work really well, but god, isn't it fun?
I ran into a deck on MTGO the other day. The guy had all the planeswalkers wrecking havoc, and a pair of chromanticores. Of course, I had a really dumb deck I was using (this was for fun), and had no way to deal with anything. Still, he crushed me and it looked competitive.
This deck looked incredibly expensive -- had elspeth, jace, kiora, and so on.

A variation of Conley Woods's 5-color control maybe?

Making it indestructible with Fated Return is no good because of Deicide and Revoke Existence.
I think it's a massive design fail not making it 5/5.
Being below the curve just makes it bad.
Revived through Fated Return, enchanted with Chromanticore?
Sounds pretty janky!
