The most played spell in the entire format is a "sleeper"?
uhhhh...
You totally missed what I meant. I was saying how it was possible a popular removal spell like Hero's Downfall be so cheap especially since it was $15 at one point. Its price has been falling since then despite being one of the more popular cards in Standard.
It's price hasn't been falling. It dropped ONCE and likely won't recover for awhile because of the event deck that reprinted it.
It spiked to $15 in October and has been declining ever since. You're probably right that the Event deck will keep the price lower. However, wasn't Thragtusk printed in like 2 Event decks and still kept the $10+ price for most of its Standard life?
Thragtusk is also a much better card than hero's downfall. Thragtusk could take a game over in seconds with all of the flicker effects present when it was in standard. hero's downfall is a very good removal spell, but it is still just a removal spell. it doesn't win you games like thragtusk does.
Apparently we think alike. From a MTGO purely financial perspective these are probably the top 3 cards I've identified that are doing well in Block but not yet so much in Standard. I would name one other not really sleeper card in Xenagos, the Reveler as a card that could see a value increase based solely off of Block play.
However, I am still not ready to invest any money into any JOU cards for another few weeks because the prices still look inflated. When I do it will be the 2 cards you mentioned and the lands.
Another thing to keep in mind is how beaten down Green and White have been for the past year because of the absolute mistake of a card, Lifebane Zombie. Everything G and W (with the exception of Azorius and Boros spells) is underplayed right now because of him. The Green shell is ready to rival the Black shell come rotation. White, I am less sure of but cards like Soldier of the Pantheon and friends have to be better without LBZ right?
Edit: I am writing off all of the Gods. If there is no 4 mana sweeper then so be it... I'll just play catchup on the Gods like everyone else.
Eidolon of Blossoms has been on the rise for some time now they started out 1.00-2.00 dollars and now are 3.50-5.00. Eidolon of the great Reveal have slowly been moving up for some time. In the short term a lot of red stuff may move up stuff Like Firedrinker Satyr I've had multiple people asking me for them this past weekend. Soldier Of the Pantheon has a lot of up side down the road with the Rotation of LBZ and other cards that compete for its spot.
Not really a sleeper since it sees mucho play, with that said, I like Gnareld Scarhide should see even more play after rotation since MBA isn't going to loose much and may pickup a few more pieces.
I'm trying to get my hands on any and all foil Eidolon of the great Revels because it's just going to keep rising.
Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx has gotta see more play. Fabled Hero can be a helluva finisher. If there is a Rancor like card, a cheap trampling boost, I see him getting some serious play. Master of Waves is insanely cheap right now, and I am picking up as many copies as I can. Artisan of Forms Ashen Rider is too good not to have some crazy combo. Tymaret, the Murder King is another card I could see in an RWB Athreos/Murder King combo. Fanatic of Xenagos is so good not to see play, and could very well make some waves as one of the hot uncommons. Boon Satyr and Fleecemane Lion don't see enough play.
I have be believe Skybind was printed with a reason other than EDH or block. It pretty much does nothing right now in standard that I've seen. Maybe mixed with Ashen Rider it could be a thing. I will snag any foil copies I can.

I can see Launch the Fleet making it's presence known if 'going wide' is supported enough, especially if some of the convoke cards in M15 are really good. This could also make Ajani's Presence something of an heir to Boros Charm in terms of protecting some of your dudes from removal, unless they drop something better (or I forgot something better in Theros block or the M15 previews).
I think Oracle of Bones is going to be seeing play in Red/Black decks with In Garruk's Wake, forcing them to tribute it for fear of stuff like the Wake and perhaps Worst Fears.
Athereos God of Passage looks better on paper than it really is that is what I have been told. Whip Of Erebos would see more play if it didn't have 2 black in its casting cost and activation cost. Another reason whip doesn't see as much play is there are not very many creatures with good come into play abilitys.
Prognostic Sphinx seems good but we don't know what blue will get in the new block. The blue Avatar seems decent.
Koira will be quite good once there is no more Jace, Architect of Thought assuming he doesn't get reprinted in M15. need card draw some how. Its decent with Courser and Sylvan to block and power it out faster. I just like esper better with Downfall and Thoughtseize.
Silence the Believers I been running as a one of in my Esper Control list since it does exile gods and is value late game. I like it but wouldn't really play more then 1 right now with Verdict still around. Silence the Believers might be more popular when the Avatars come out in M15 if they get played since it exiles so the flashback doesn't happen.
Silence the Believers is a great card but it's not a 4 of in a deck. I could see some decks start running 2. Price wise it may rise a little but it will not likely go past 5.00 dollars.

Still vulnerable to Doom Blade.
I think Reaper of the Wilds is another one of those pushed creatures that just doesn't really have a home.
4CMC is just such a sweet spot for creatures. Without Desecration Demon it's not like people are going to start playing Eater of Hope and Abhorrent Overlord. DD is played because he is 4CMC.

Turn 2 Frostburn Weird turn 3 Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, Burning-Tree Emissary, Twinflame the BTE, and drop Stormbreath Dragon. That's a helluva turn 3, and if I have a land drop turn 4 I can monstrous the dragon.
I'm trying to get my hands on any and all foil Eidolon of the great Revels because it's just going to keep rising.

Artisan of Forms
Ashen Rider is too good not to have some crazy combo.
Tymaret, the Murder King is another card I could see in an RWB Athreos/Murder King combo.
Fanatic of Xenagos is so good not to see play, and could very well make some waves as one of the hot uncommons.
Boon Satyr and Fleecemane Lion don't see enough play.
Once rotation hits, I see mono color strategies being even stronger. That's why I could see Nykthos on the rise.
Satyr Firedancer
Spiteful Returned
Vaporkin
Hero of Iroas
Dawnbringer Charioteers with the Hero, and Eidolon of Countless Battles seem very capable of doing things.

King Macar, the Gold Cursed could see some utility especially as the format begins to slow down.
Pheres-Band Warcheif with Courser of Kruphix and Fanatic of Xenagos and Fated Intervention... there has gotta be a thing there somewhere...
And there has to be a deck there to fit Mogis, God of Slaughter in there somewhere. A 7/5 for 4 is just too good not to see play.
I think Oracle of Bones is going to be seeing play in Red/Black decks with In Garruk's Wake, forcing them to tribute it for fear of stuff like the Wake and perhaps Worst Fears.
Thoughtrender Lamia could become an end-piece to a Waste Not deck, perhaps as a 1 or 2 of.
I have trouble imagining that people won't find really good uses for Triton Shorestalker or Hypnotic Siren.
