Not so much a should i run mana confluence thread but more of a "Modern is too damn expensive and standard is reasonbly cheap but i dont know how it works"
Anyways ive been playing naya hexproof auras for a little while and been doing 12 temples 10 shocks and im curious what a recommended mana base would be. i have a red splash and ive been thinking of either going to 12 shocks 10 temples or even 10 shocks 9 temples and 2 utiity lands/basic lands. The deck is definitley better with scry im just not sure exactly how fast standard is for me to run shocks or have more than half my lands enter tapped and still want to be in the realm of being an aggro deck.
For a better idea of what im looking for here is my list should it help
With your list, you're going to want the full 4 of Mana Confluence. You have a lot of permanents that require actual colored mana, and the mana requirements are pretty strict. I think 12 scry lands is too many for any deck that is not control, as you lose a lot of tempo when half your lands come into play tapped, and only control has the D-Spheres or Supreme Verdicts to help them catch up.
I would try a mana base like this, and see how it performs:
This should allow you to increase your speed and cast your spells on time. The format is slow, but not that slow, and from the spoilers, it looks like Journey to Nyx is going to make aggro decks much better (B/W Humans, Mono-Black Aggro, White weenie, spalsh R Aggro, etc), which will increase the speed of Standard.
Ukraine Dane explained it pretty well. Think of the loss of advantage playing your 12 temples and while the scry is some upside to playing a generally worse land I hardly find it worth it. Stick with a set of the GW. You have both GG and WW casting costs (a lot more WW) take that into account when building you mana base.
While I kind of dislike even playing the full 12 shock lands too. To each their own. There are just some match ups where I've looked back over a close one. "If I just didn't take that 4 dmg turn 3 and 4...." They are really necessary in a 3 color deck though.
Plus lifelink from Fiendslayer and Unflinching will always help. Maybe add Selesneya(sp?) charms too and/or Ghor-Clan Rampagers for the trample! They complement very well with Boros Charm and are ridiculously cheap in casting cost and price.

With 9 lifelinking cards, you should be able to run shocklands and mana confluence better than any other deck. I'd go 12 shock, 4 mana confluence, 4 GW temples, and then a couple basics.
