So as Control decks I imagine you've been stuck losing to a player that knows how to properly use mutavault to run you down before you can ever really get going.
Or perhaps your an aggro deck that once they drop a Jace can't seem to beat the card advantage and -1 power.
Even further you're tired of running into a turn 2 Domri that starts spitting out creeps.
Then what about mono black being able to find a removal spell or pack rat while they sit back on underworld dreams and gain card advantage.

Pithing Needle.
Standard is overrun with cards that Pithing Needle has an answer to main board. I believe the card can easily be used as a 1 and in most cases 2 of.
Ask yourself would a 1 of needle in hand have prevented this?
I believe in standard especially that you will have more matches than not that Needle will net you potential 4 for 1's occasional 1 for 1's and tempo and the rare match up where its a dead card.
No. It would not have. Pithing Needle belongs where it has always been:in the sideboard. You shouldn't compromise a mainboard for fear of something that might not be. It's a bad, terrible idea to have a swiss army knife prepared when you should be walking in with a bayonet.

Or perhaps you're an aggro player that doesn't know how to fundamentally fight some of the basic things you should know how to fight.
Are you tired some having something happen that's not that high a chance to the point that you're willing to play a card that's pretty bad for the matchup just to shut down a planeswalker instead of dealing with it like an aggro deck that punches it out or a control deck that gets rid of it?
Then what about that card in mono black that I can't even name correctly that they could technically just place on a temple or mutavault if I call it before they play one?
