ok guys dont laugh at me but I am a 2 month old MTG player. I wanted to try to make this card useful and I want to build a deck around using it(bad idea to build around one card) but what if I made a deck using 3-4 Karametras(the idea is to use her for ramp) along with elvish mystics, burning trees, karametras acolytes and nykthos for ramp. creatures would be the Hero of Leina Tower no one uses, Hero of Iroas, Phalanx Leader, and basically the rest being auras and enchantments(and Nylea the god)? am I trying to do too much with one deck? Primeval Bounty would be a good card that I would run as well. Should I give up on thinking outside the box?
There is already a highly established ramp deck in G/R/x monsters. I mean you could try to ramp into fat stuff like World Spine Wurm and Colossus of Akros. Mistcutter Hydra, Vastwood Hydra sounds solid for this deck. Yeah there's a deck here, maybe....the thing is you need to live long enough to cast these fatties. You could go turbo fog but you need creatures to trigger karametra, which means you needs creatures to cast consistently, which means you need card advantage. So the hydras, primeval bounty, courser of kruphix, deadly recluse, wateland viper. Angel of Serenity could be good, Spear of heliod just to protect yourself. Hero's Reunion, Fog, Riot Control. Basically want a lot of defense and surprisingly difficult creatures like viper and recluse, maybe elvish mystics, sylvan caryatid. There's a deck here. Maybe pro-active cards like celestial flare. Honestly think you need a timely hunter's prowess or you'll just run out of gass. Selesnya charm would be really good here. So some proactivity in the deathtouch creatures, flare. Surprise Fogs, ramp into karametra into big stuff.
Still the glaring problem is that karametra isn't really conducive to ramping, you need the mana to cast the creatures, and you need the creatures to fetch the lands.
Karametra kind of works against herself. Would recommend plummet because Desecration Demon will run you over.
Ok so you want big fat fatties like:
Worldspine Wurm
Archetype of Endurance
Mistcutter Hydra
Vastwood Hydra
Angel of Serenity
Colossus of Akros
Want a combination of proactive and reactive control in:
Fog
Riot Control
Wasteland Viper
Deadly Recluse (I swear this gives mono-black headaches)
Celestial Flare
Time to feed
Selesnya Charm
Courser of Kruphix
Unravel the Aether
Plummet
Rootborn Defenses
Trostani
And of course the mana ramp
Elvish Mystic
Sylvan Caryatid
Karametra God of the Harvest
Not suggesting by any means this deck will be competitive but its start. Sorry about the absence of card tags, they don't seem to be working for me.
Thank you very much! I dont mind if the deck is not competitive, currently I am playing G/R monster/monstrosity in paper on FNM and playing Selesnya aggro(without voices sadly too expensive) on MTGO. I wanted to try something people arent playing much which Selesnya so far isnt played at my FNM or much on MTGO, and Karametra seems worseless when I first saw it and everyone says it is, but I am so new I dont know what half of those core set cards you listed were till I just looked them up. I can try to make it work though. Much appreicated for doing the hardwork I couldnt do +1.
I've tossed the idea around personally about a 'fun' deck in Naya colors with a dozen or more mana dorks, Sporemound, Rubblehulk, and some number of Karametra and Bounties. If only shocks and basics are used, you can use Karametra to pull out the majority of the lands in deck, leading to a growing army of spores or a very large Rubblehulk.
If you were to do rubblehulk, I'd think that you'd be trying to do a fatty bloodrush trick. Blast things. Stay alive. Swing with the saps and bloodrush the unblocked one with boros charm buff/backup. But that's a bit of a stretch.
Thing about ramping is that it works when you don't already have 5 or 6 mana on the board. Karametra only starts ramping once you already don't need to ramp anymore.
If she cost 2-3 mana it might make some sense, but at it stands, Courser of Kruphix does something WAY BETTER than what she does, and costs WAY LESS.
I beleive that to build the deck around one idea to focus with it is a good start,i think that there are some creatures and spells right now in standard that works with the amount of lands you have on play or in the deck. Maybe you can start looking on what you have on naya colors.
