I encountered a random situation where I wondered if I could target my own Obzedat in the end step with my Rapid Hybridization and then in response blink him to basically get a free token. The reason I ask is because 1. I've only been playing for about 5 months so I am not entirely familiar with the mechanics of the game yet to figure it out myself and 2. Since you can add his effect to the stack in the end step after Whip of Erebos, I thought maybe you can do that with anything as long as it's in the end step.
If you target an Obzedat, ghost council with a Rapid Hybridization, then blink him with something like cloudshift, you wont get a token, because Rapid Hybridization no longer has any legal targets, so the whole spell is countered.
If you try to respond to his effect of blinking with Rapid Hybridization, the rapid will resolve first and destroy your ghost council before he blinks away.
(This combo works well with indestructible creatures. The effect says destroy, so when it targets an indestructible, the spell gets to resolve and do as much as it can, since it still has a legal target. That is the only real way to get a free token out of it.)
The reason it works with Whip of Erebos is because he would get exiled during the end step, but he isn't around to be exiled, so he can't be. Also, when he blinks, he becomes a new object that isn't tied with the whip. Since he leaves the field, the whip says he would be exiled, and he would be anyway. Since the zone is public, Obzedat's ability can find him and pull him back.
For future reference, this type of thing goes in the magic rulings section, and don't forget card tags. It makes everyone's life a little easier.
