I'm a bit confused as to how someone could answer the question "what are the most powerful cards in standard right now" with a list of cards only used in legacy. Deathrite Shaman is HORRIBLE in standard. Literally zero decks, even at tier 2, play any copies whatsoever. Ibid for the rest of that list.
As for actual Standard, a partial list would be:

Elvish Mystic / Sylvan Caryatid (depending on the week)
Detention sphere

The two biggest ones there are Gary and Mutavault. Those cards are just plain insane.

Thoughtseize, elspeth, detention sphere, and maybe the baron in at tenth?
Isn't the point of the game to identify cards that are independently powerful?
How on earth is Frostburn Weird one of the most independently powerful cards in Standard? He doesn't do anything. Even things like Master of Waves and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx shouldn't be in the conversation. Without devotion, Master of Waves is two 2/1s for 4 mana and Nykthos is just a land that produces one colourless mana.
Weird is rubbish without its synergies, but Master of Waves is the real deal and would be at least worth considering in pretty much any Standard. Under easily sculpted game states, the card just puts so much power on the board for four mana that it is one of the best threats printed.
Contrast this to a card like Pestermite in Modern, which also can produce a game-ending game state, but only does so under quite specific circumstances.
Agreed. I think a lot of people underestimate the strength of Master of Waves, thinking that you have to make 6 or 7 tokens to be powerful. Even if you are only making 3 tokens, it is still putting a bunch of pressure on the board.

I mean compare him to Huntmaster of the Fells which was a heavily played card last season. Sure the have their differences but there was quite the possibility that you just paid for 4 mana for 2 2/2s and 2 life and never got to see the flipside of him.
Dont know where the thinking comes from that you need like 6 tokens to make Master of Waves worth it. I mean he is somewhat game-ending against many Green and Red decks and even against the other colors they need to have the removal right now or they just die. That is quite an upside in my opinion.
I like the list, but I think an Honorable mention to Sylvan Caryatid and Courser of Kruphix. These two cards do so much work for the green based decks.
