Black and Blue have always been the top 2 colors in Magic. Sometimes White gets a break and red is the color of eternal hope. Wizards loves creatures but they don't want Green to win.
Know your place! LBZ is 4 of main deck now, so if you're playing GW the black decks are already pre-sideboarded against you. It's a big hint by Wotc, don't play GW!
When's the last time GW won anything? I'm going to say around 1998? (Ernageddon?) Yet at FNM's, GP's, people are still trying to bash their heads with something that basically can't win. Why?? Play the cards Wotc wants you to play and be happy!
-Standard is more balanced now than I ever remember it being. Things like LBZ generally do not cripple any decks completely. LBZ is a good hate card; it's obviously not ruining the format.
Well, I've been seeing a slow and steady increase in mono-black players, and that deck is starting to dominate. I can't see anything in the new set that will change that--in fact, mono black or black control decks seem to get the strongest cards in the set so it should, on paper, only be a stronger choice. We'll see if it gets to that Caw-blade level of dominance or not.
Not even close. They'd have to print something actually oppressive for that to happen.
Lifebane wouldn't be such a problem if Thoughtseize weren't in the format. Currently, Standard is pretty miserable to play if you are a green or white creature deck when every game against the most dominant deck is Thoughtseize > Bile Blight/Doom Blade/Devour Flesh > Lifebane > Pack Rat. By the time you've recvored from that, your opponent is attacking you with 3 4/4 Pack Rat Tokens. It doesn't help that B aggro is becoming more popular and jams 4 copies in the main deck.
Standard is pretty unfun right now if your deck doesn't run Detention Sphere, Supreme Verdict or Cyclonic Rift. Or, you know, jam a bunch of red and green mythics.
You mean like that GWx hex deck that Black kinda groans when they see because as long as the deck isn't being super greedy with a dismal creature count they're not such happy campers? Or that White splash black weenie that mono black doesn't particularly care to see either which can thoughtseize back and play 4 times as many threats as black has removal. MBD typically only has about 2-3 DIS in the side anyway.
Discard is just a big theme in Black right now. Thoughtseize + duress + lifebane Zombie can be tough for some decks. The best countermeasure is to just make sure you don't have a deck with a 1-of critical card. Discard can be frustrating to play against, I get it.
I can relate, Wizards of the Coast constant need to print cards like Kor Firewalker and Burrenton Forge-Tender has made me hate Magic enough to almost get mad enough to complain about it on an internet forum.

Well red deserves the hate. Its the color of the lawless and underdogs. They shall work to be among the big dogs.

I think that's a bit different. When Kor Fiewalker was a card, you still had access to Leyline of Punishment and Unstable Footing, in order to get around it. You actually had an answer for an answer, which was alright if you decided to go that way.
The general M14 Hate Cycle, was very skewed towards blue and black. Both of their cards ended up 2 for 1-ing your opponent while the other three... Uhh what do they do again?
Seriously doesn't even have protection from black or red (I would kill to have or even in standard). It doesn't stand up to or even Gray Merchant of Asphodel. Witch Stalker is easily played around or met with Devout Flesh. As for Mindspark Don't even know of any Blue or White Instant/Sorcery spells that are played that doesn't flat out win the game for the control decks.
When it comes to and these two do a much better job at hating the colors they're supposed to. I think that's why when you play a Green or White based creature deck it's so frustrating. The only solution there is ATM for those decks is to simply run more threats, which really isn't a solution when the black deck is drawing more answers than you thanks to , the Blue deck is also drawing answers and more threats with .
It's wrong to draw any conclusions based off of the fact that black and blue has the best cards in a particular cycle. Overall, Standard is pretty healthy as a format. You have 3-4 decks that stand a reasonable chance at winning any given week. A good argument can be made that it's boring to play, but that's very subjective as we all tend to like different types of decks.

When's the last time GW won anything? Well, it certainly was far later than 1998... try "last year" when it won an SCG Standard Open.
Incidentally, GW Maverick was one of the best decks in Legacy for a while, until Deathrite Shaman came along and pushed it down.
GW also won Pro Tour Dragon's Maze, though admittedly that was Block Constructed.
Also, I keep hearing people saying that Tidebinder Mage 2-for-1s the opponent, much like Lifebane Zombie does. How? I get how the Zombie does it (strips one from their hand, then trades with a second on the field), but how does the Tidebinder?
It's not a 2-for-1, unless you would otherwise be willing to play 2/2's for 2 mana in your deck. Banisher Priest, when played in WW is more of a 2-for-1 because then you can usually afford to attack with her on top exiling a creature. When she gets killed, though, it's no longer a 2-for-1.

/tldr; some jokes, mostly serious. Don't play GW.
