Hello guys, in my play group we decided to shake things a bit and we raffled the colors we would play next week. I ended up with White and I need some ideas how to build a mono White deck. White is by far the color I have least experience with, so any help is welcome!
Is there any idea besides white weenie?
To help everyone the tournament has the Magic Onlie ban list and every player will play only mono color decks with mono color cards, just like commander. I am not the only player playing White. We are about 10 to 12 players.
The three most dominant choices would be White Weenie, Soul Sisters and Soldiers. Exalted it very blah in my opinion and tribal Knights is horrible in Pauper. You can check my Soldier primer if you would like some very solid ideas for that tribe.
If you eventually decided to go with White Weenie, the one in my signature is very solid and setup to handle almost every situation so that is always a good choice.
I also have a Pauper Soul Sisters deck in my signature if you would like to take ideas from that. It may need some sideboard work depending on what people are bringing to your tournament and some minor tweaks to the main board.
You could try auras, though in my own playgroup they get blasted like nobodies business lol. I don't really run into a lot of people who play with Empyrial Armor all that often because of the inherent hand emptying that a mono white deck usually experiences. By turn three-ish my soldier decks hand is usually empty for instance.
I'm just partial to the three things that I listed because I have had personal success with those.
The nice thing if you play with something like Turbo-Soldiers is that most of the time people don't expect you to have 3-4 creatures with first strike and or shadow by turn 2, so you can have one hell of an advantage if you can keep up the attack.
The big question is though, what tickles your fancy the most? Would you have fun playing with a soldier tribe? Maybe you would have fun with auras but it just needs some tweaking, or perhaps a more aggressive Soul Sisters. Lots of options but what do you think you would have the most fun with?
Well this is a good question. I don't often play white because I fell it is the play stile I like the least.
I like to play with the GY, I am a big fan of Threshold, Dredge and mechanics alike. I usually play Green. I like heavy creatures. Sometimes I go tribal too. Elves are by far the tribe I have most played with in pauper.
The problem with your Soul Sister is that I fells a bit more likely to be a defensive deck.

It is very defensive, the bottom line being that you gain so much life your opponent really has no answer so all you need to do is wear them down. You could tweak it a bit to be more offensive pretty easily by using some more equipment or some different creatures.
I think soldiers would be the safest and cheapest bet.
If you want to run something like that, I would suggest gettinga full compliment of Lotus Petal from the the Tempest set. It will speed up your deck a lot so you can potentially hit a turn 1 infect creature.
Instead of Floating Shield what about Flickering Ward? It is cheaper and also movable, if someone dares to try and destroy that enchantment you can activate the mana ability to return it to your hand rendering the card and mana they just used to destroy it useless.

How about auras? Both Ethereal Armor and Empyrial Armor are playable auras...

So how to best use this advantage? It is a kind of evasion, and (duh) protection. So how about a Mono white infect? It can be very scary, right?
Of course it will lack the pumps green has, but I think we can over come that with equipment or an aura or 2...
I will put an example of deck I though:
4 Lost Leonin
4 Ichorclaw Myr
4 Priests of Norn
2 Corpse Cur
4 Bonesplitter
4 Ethereal Armor
4 Bone Saw
Removal (8)
4 Jorney to Nowhere
4 Oblivon Ring
4 Apostle's Blessing
4 Floating Shield
Lands (18)
14 Plains
4 Land that comes tap and gives pro color to target creature
So it will be a rouge deck for sure
