Djinn of Infinite Deceits might be the only non 8+ worth discussing. Certainly a massive blowout in the making. Considering it can be done every turn, do you make 8 drops knowing your opponent can trade them for junk creatures every turn.
Baleful Force is like a mini Grisselbrand w/out lifelink. I'll be happy most of the time to get him.
Naya Soulbeast is a dud Cognivore style. It pains me they put this at 8 and not 7.
Both Nekusar and Oloro are solid 5/6 drops respectively.

Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
Yea some of those little guys are fine. (True Name Nemesis is an 8 turn clock) but they are just removal/guys w/ evasion. Plus there are over 1500 3 drops.

Serene Master is great as a two-drop, but he won't show up too often. Djinn of Infinite Deceits looks amazing. I'll trade my 3 for your 6, then trade my 4 for your 7. Tidal Force seems pretty good, Baleful Force as well, although I'd still prefer Magmatic Force. True-Name Nemesis is a great three-drop. Fell Shepherd isn't bad, it can make combat tough for your opponent at times, but it sucks having to leave up mana. Still, an 8/6 for 7 is OK. Hooded Horror could be decent if you're on the play, or if you wait until postcombat to make your creature. Ophiomancer looks great. It makes non-flying attacks miserable for your opponent. Great value at 3. Terra Ravager isn't terrible. A 4/4 or 5/4 on its first attack is OK, and an 8/4 late game attacker isn't horrible. Bane of Progress and Naya Soulbeast suck, the Soulbeast being a big kick-in-the-pants. Derevi isn't that great. Gahiji is pretty good. Jeleva sucks, but at least it can block flyers. Marath is a 0/0. Nekusar will certainly end the game eventually, one way or the other. Oloro is interesting. You lose a turn's worth of CMC advancement, but it seems worth it for life and a card each turn. I think he's very good. Prossh is a 5/5 flyer for 6. Solid right there even without his sac ability. Roon will win you the game if he doesn't die. Wow. Plus he's a solid beater! Shattegang Brothers most likely isn't that great, neither is Sydri.
Sucks that we're still 2 months away from playing with them!

A bit late to the discussion, but seeing as these are recently added it seems still relevant.
As for the Djinn, I would think you would still want to go to 8's. If you didn't you'd just make crappy creatures while your opponent makes 7s or 8s. You'd have to hope for something to kill or bounce it. It is interesting to note that 10s have an inordinately high percentage of legendary creatures which would be immune. Too bad most 10s are bad...

I don't mind putting mana into 10. Dragon Tyrant, Kozilak, Jin-Gix, Progenitus and Spawnsire.
Of course you might get Broodstar or Stratadon. The problem with 10 is there isn't any way to get rid of it. You'd be better off going for 11 for Ulamog if you wanted to take that kind of risk.

I don't always post about Rafiq of the Many, but when I do, I cardlink to the original artwork, and not the supplementary product version.
"I trust myself to do my duty, even unto death. It's what comes after that I'm afraid of."
"Just fight without fear. Your soul is protected by the hand of Avacyn and will never submit to evil."
