what prison style strategies (or similar) are possible to build in frontier? i can think of
death and taxes, which isn't that competitive since the creature based decks in frontier
pillow fort with starfield of nyx
uw control with tap target creature effects, good in the meta i think
waste not discard deck
I have made a waste not deck, but it isn't quite prison since there isn't many ways of keeping your opponent off of options for long. I don't know there just needs to be cards that can help these strategies.
Prison elements are now printed super sparingly by WotC because it leads to 'unfun gameplay', which is partly why so many people were surprised that Deadlock Trap actually made it into KLD.
With how scarce the resources are, I don't think prison decks can currently exist in Frontier, with the closest being maybe some kind of pillowfort build with Starfield as you mentioned. It's going to take a long time for enough cards to be printed for the archetype to be viable, especially since land destruction and non-basic land hate are also extremely uncommon and/or inefficient...

to Lobo: those are not prison cards, lodestone golem and thorn of amethyst are
to the OP" frontier is a pretty small cardpool that has less deck diversity than most standard formats, I don't think there will ever be a prison deck in this format.
So I was looking around and while there may not be a true prison lock deck like in say legacy or modern, I do believe you can get something close. Brewing and looking around I feel it would work best in a GW list. As someone mentioned above Deadlock Trap can be an icy manipulator essentially with with Greenbelt Rampager (If you lack the appropriate energy. As well along with that there is also Pacification Array Which helps against both vehicles and the creatures that could possibly crew them however 2 mana can be hefty. I imagine you would wanna run a removal set of Cast OutSilkwrap, Suspension Field, Declaration in Stone, and Thopter Arrest .
As for finishers some I think that could work are like Dragonlord Dromoka . She's just a big body that also locks down your opponent on your turn. Hornet Queen also could possibly work with good ramp to back it up. Some planeswalkers could also fit or even Approach of the Second Sun if you wanted to go that route. I think the deck as a concept sounds fun though and entirely possibly, just a little more difficult to brew with.
Can confirm, Next-Level Blue Prison is competitively viable. It gets stronger with [HOU],thanks to Supreme Will, possibly Strategic Planning or Kefnet's Last Word, and Jace's Defeat sideboard.

Some other cards of note I found that fall in the prison line Authority of the Consuls which slows down your opponents haste creatures. Hushwing Gryff seems like it could fit in very well along with Aven Mindcensor. Protection of the Hekma probably won't make the list because of the mana cost and Sandwurm Convergence (unless you have a very slow meta). Thalia, Heretic Cathar also seems nice in a prison strategy.
