So I was watching the deck tech for a block deck called Hallelujah from pro tour AVR and this deck seems very cool but somethin that could get very tiresome very quickly if it's archetype becomes good in block an standard in the long run. The guy running it had won 8 straight rounds with it.
I mean this is a kind of deck where variance and skill collide, I don't think it would be easy to play at least at first, but the variance is off the charts with it much worse I think than Bloodbraid Elf ever could have hoped to be. This is like the Moneymaker Hold Em' deck, go all in and if you run good theres no stopping you.
Again seems cool, but the reality could be grim, also it's loaded with rares and mythics from the new set as 4 ofs, never good for budget. It also seems a bit tough to interact with as you can't really let the game go long against it unless you're playing the same deck since it's inevitability is over the top.

I could see it for bonfire, not so hot on thunderous for this deck type though, not sure what the change in numbers would be, deck seems fairly tight already. 4 clifftop and 4 sulfur seems nice to have access to though. You could cut feeling of dread I suppose.

It also gives you access to Bonfire of the Damned and Thunderous Wrath if you wanted to go that route. Just replace your current draw spells with the looting spells, adjust some of the miracles with the red if you like.

its not my deck its a guys from the PT, and it's a block deck, the thread isn't that long, can't be that hard to read a little more lol.
Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
1. Devastation Tide isn't that great against WRR, nor is terminus. Creatures with solid EtB effects generally aren't in ISD block, yet they dominate standard.
2. Planeswalker threats are REALLY limited in block, but not so much in standard, which makes terminus both too slow and not very effective against the field. Also, SoWaP. 'nuff said.
3. Ratchet bomb is still a card. Entreat the Angels is so goddamned overblown right now.
People have been trying to make esper superfriends work for months in standard, but the reality is that terminus is too shaky to mainboard against a host of decks, and swords really hamper any efforts for control to stabilize the board right now.
With that said, I would definitely keep an eye out for artifact ramp in the core set or RTR, since that's really the missing piece for control/reanimator strats at the moment.
One thing I like about this is that it gets around the "Miracle in your opening hand is bad" thing by accepting it's going to happen and making sure you just draw endless powerful cards for not much mana while you get the land out to cast the ones you started with.
Very clever stuff here and probably the hardest deck to play I've seen in years.

Looting doesn't do jack with Miracle, and Desperate Raving's is complete crap with with Miracles. Draw your Miracle, discard it. Run Think Twice, it's strictly better for this deck.
Since this is Block, you can't use Noxious Revival. Even if you could, it's just card disadvantage regardless of setup. Instead of drawing it, you could have drawn Miracles, or card draw for Miracles on your opponent's turn.

1. Terminus is good against any deck running creatures. Devastation Tide isn't. Terminus (almost) permanently deals with threats, even Prime Time. They can GSZ it again or cast another copy, but you can already inherently deal with that in Control. Just side it out for better removal.
2. SoWaP? What does that do against Terminus? I really don't understand why you think Terminus is so bad. It puts every creature onto the bottom of it's owner's library, regardless of any other factor other than the basic need for it to resolve. Sure, they keep SoWaP, but it should be easy to draw an out, because you have a couple extra turns, because they have nothing to equip it to.
3. Yes, because every time you create an army with one card your opponent will have an answer.

Feeling of Dread was pretty much the MVP of the deck.... and those Thought Scours enable miracles on opponents turn very nicely. This deck doesn't really want counterspells.
The entire Canadian team + Adam Yurchik played this deck, and only one of them posted a record of better than 6-4-0, and that was Hayne who went 6-3-1 including an ID. I guess overall, he went 9-3 with that deck.

I think this is a pretty poor deck for any mediocre player playing this on modo. If you're a solid player who's decent at this game, the deck is very good HOWEVER if you're a weak player, there are many games you can lose where you don't do one turn correctly.
I think it is kind of like seismic swans. The variance is high and if you haven't played the deck a lot you're just jamming cards into a deck.
Not to mention any kind of disruption will own it.
I don't think this is like Jund at all. Cascade is just card advantage if you build your deck right.

This will not translate into a dominant strategy in Standard. There are too many actual good tools to counter this deck that are currently being used. The RWU deck might make a bit of a splash, but nothing too dominant.
I think it was a great choice for block. Haynes did make a few small play errors throughout the top 8 series, but overall played well.
The deck's not too difficult to play, however sideboarding does seem difficult. I was surprised to see him take out the Devastation Tides and keep in the Feeling of Dreads. I would think with Stalker being such a threat that you would want to keep the Tides in, but it looks like it became a non-issue. I don't even remember seeing Stalker all that much after Game 1 of either match, but it was also in the middle of the night last night.
All in all, an AMAZING pro tour though, the block format was extremely interesting, and I was surprised to see just how many AVR cards made the cut. I may have to hit up GP LA now that I can see how fun the current block format is.
I wonder why he didn't run 1-2 ghost quarter? That RW land seems like it could be quite threatening to this mostly sorcery speed deck. I suppose the blue walker could tap down the land...

Well he not only did win the 8 Rouds Straight, he won the PTQ.
But the Player himself said that he played it for 2 Weeks on a Cruise over to Barcelona and he still lost a game because he didn´t Dissipate an Avacyns Pilgrim who was the 6th Card on the enemys Field.
I just think it is a very good Deck in the Hands of the right player but not made for the wide masses.
He only won because finkel let him win first off (see game 5). And to clarify the player went 8 straight wins after starting 1-3, not the deck. The player made it to the top 8 because he drafted well, not necessarily because his deck busted the format wide open. I actually dont like the deck a whole lot. but as with all things time will tell.

Tarmogoyf costs $50, so he has to be played in your tournament deck. Otherwise everyone will laugh at you. You will be brought to the head judge's table where they will publicly humiliate you over the PA. You will have "LOL...WTF!" stamped on your DCI card in big red letters at the door on your way out.
I can't help but agree with those calling shenanigans on the ability of this deck to "dominate" - even in block. Besides the very un-dominant showing in the swiss it won 3-2 in every round of the top-8 bracket; one or two little things going against it and it wouldn't have even been there to win. Finally, if this deck did become popular then faster, less board-presence oriented aggro would develope to counter it. I mean, solo hasty creatures hitting hard and fast and direct damage seem like obvious weaknesses, so I bet this deck just folds to RDW variants (his SB suggests that he harbored that exact anxiety).

This deck will crumble when people add disruption to their decks. The entire reason this deck even works is because there is no meta game after AVR release. When tempo/control decks know what they are disrupting it will be easy to beat this.
Also another reason this deck does well is because it very creature heavy while having 8 board wipes. Counterspells were not used well because of Caveran of Souls.
