Definitely use FRAPS. If you have a slower computer OR have a good computer, but a lot of processes taking up time being processed by the computer while MTGO is running, however, performance may/will take a big hit.
Has anyone else had trouble screencasting the MTGO beta client? I tried a half dozen different screen recorders yesterday before getting Blueberry to actually work and save video in a format I could use within After Effects, only to find out that it doesn't record the beta client when it's in use. It will record whatever layer is beneath the client. Almost as though it is completely invisible.
Just tried the FRAPS demo and am having the same issues, it catches part of the MTGO client, but the recorded video ends up being real flickery, with the underlying window/desktop flashing through constantly. Have yet to find a video recorder that does the job. Is it the beta client?

You could use HyperCam2. People never mind if you don't register it.
Seems, from youtube, that HyperCam leaves a bad taste in people's mouths mainly since a lot of vids in general [as in not specific to MTGO, etc] using it are pure **** - blurry resolution, no audio, horrible quality from mic input being on, etc.
If you want a free option, check out CamStudio. I've used it successfully even on a pretty slow computer.
I had the flicker problem w/ camstudio. It might have been a beta client issue though.

Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
Everything else records beautifully for me in Fraps. Desktop stuff records clearly and at a great frame rate, it's nice and smooth. As soon as I open the MTGO Beta client, everything goes to ****.
Are any of you screencasting the Beta client successfully? I am wondering if it is something to do with the MTGO software itself at this point. I can't see it being my machine, unless it's a driver issue. I have more than enough hardware capability. I've never noticed anyone on Twitch streaming the beta client either.
I downloaded and tried the local version of Screencast-O-Matic and it seems to have solved all my problems. Records MTGO Beta with no issues, and converts video to usable formats VERY efficiently. Bought a one year license for $15, but you can use it for free all you want with a watermark and 15 minute video limits.
I'd recommend Acethinker Free Screen Recorder which I have used for many years. It is a free web-based tool that lets you record your screen right from your browser. It doesn't require you to install any additional plug-ins or add-ons.

I am looking for a way to record a few games on MTGO. I don't want to be able to stream, just record my screen and some comments using my mic.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what program I should use? As always, you help is appreciated!

I am running a very fast desktop right now. I cannot imagine it will have any issues running whatever software I decide on.
Thanks again!
