I did a draft on the new client today. Things went great until I submitted my deck. It told me there was an error and I needed to restart the client. So I restarted the client. It made me build my deck from scratch, which would have been a problem if I had taken more time to build the deck initially. I submitted the deck again, and it worked this time.
But then I noticed something curious. One of the last cards I had cut from the original deck was missing. I double and triple checked the main deck, sideboard and hidden zones but it just wasn't there.
If this kind of problem is happening after all the time they've spent on the beta, the beta may be beyond saving. They should cut their losses and start work on V5.
I just hope they never make the full switch to the new client. I cashed out of mtgo for some quick cash a month ago, and I probably just won't try to get back into it.

Some facts of magic:
-Terror is an emotion which, when experienced, results in death.
-The pox was a disease notorious for having killed one-third, rounded up, of Europe’s population. Smallpox, on the other hand, killed only a single person.
-A person riding a horse cannot be stopped by foot soldiers, large animals, walls, archers, or even catapults.
It's come out a few times that Hasbro aren't willing to commit much money to developing a new client. Which is daft given the huge percentage of their revenue it provides.
Any source for that? All indications I have received from Worth and crew is resources are not the problem.

I think the main problem is that some of the initial design decisions that were made were really backwards and they have been trying to twist the rest of the development process around trying to make those stupid ideas work, instead of realising it was the wrong direction and to work on moving in the right direction.
Question for the folk here. I played a few games last night, playing Modern. After I chose my deck, on the list of decks on the left, it had all my Modern decks. However when I wanted to change to Standard, the list on the left wouldn't change. It would only show my Modern decks. Even after clicking "Reset All Filters" or whatever, it would only show my Modern decks. I was still able to join Standard games and choose the right decks, but it made the process a bit slower.
Wizards missed out on +/- 44 tix from me over the last two days (not that I would have had to actually spend any money, but you get my point). I wonder how many other regular mtgo players did the same and just didn't play?
I've been visiting this site for many years, even as Rencored_Elf still be in rumor mill.
and today, I finally done my register . because I want to complain the beta MTGO client.
IT'S SUCKS. It ruined the whole game . I tried to make a deck and play, but what I got is painful experience. Someone stop this disaster PLEASE.

Understand, Dredge is not really a Magic: The Gathering deck. When a card is playable in it, it doesn't mean it's a tournament playable card. It means it's playable in whatever crazy fantasy world that Dredge operates in.
It's like, there are a lot of improvements to play: stacking lands, mulligan/keep, etc... but at the cost of stability. The beta feels like it is very far from release right now. I'm not sure why they're doing these "spotlights."

I'm glad for the updates that they've made in the last month. Specifically the deck building portion of the program is at least bearable, now. The removal of the yellow bars allows me to use it for Constructed deckbuilding, like the old client.
They also shrunk the filters and freed up more space on the screen, which was huge.
But there's 2 things that are just so terrible.
1.) The lag. The client seems to have delays when doing things in game. I thought this was just my opponent tryng to time me out by not hitting F4, but I went into a solitaire game and confirmed it. My computer is running a GTX 460 and can run the newest games fine; it's not graphic performance that's the issue. It looks like someone actually decided that inserting lag between phases was worth it to show a stupid graphic of the phase box shifting!??!? Whoever did that needs to find a new line of work. I can't think of any type of high-use software where that kind of thinking is acceptable. There's a reason why the most advanced software is piled high with a million hot-keys; split seconds add up, and adding 0.5 seconds to the necessary evil of priority passing on MODO is unacceptable, especially not for a stupid animation.
2.) The Life totals and Phase bars are too small, and too far off center. They didn't accentuate the important information, and it hurts awareness when you have to shift your eyes to read the bottom of the screen before each F2. If there was at least a colored icon to help distinguish the phases it could help, but no. I would prefer icons with hover text for phases, honestly. It would still suck, but at least you could pick up the visual cues over time. Color coding the words might help with visual cues, as well. Just plain making the life total larger should be easy and automatic.
3.) The filters that are everywhere are completely ridiculous. They take up ridiculous amounts of screen space and are less functional than the drop-down menu's form the original. The pop-up boxes that came when you did things like create a new game were pre-filled and worked better than actually having to fill out all the stupid little options just to launch a new game of Pauper.
The filters also make it so that you cant launch a new game without adjusting your filters, which means that you constantly have to reset these filters whenever you are joining or creating games. they also do the same thing when you're searching for events. And when you're searching for cards in the collection. They've disabled the ability to click on you collection and just start typing the name of a card to scroll through the giant list. Now you have to type this crap in the filter. And then reset the filter. And then type the next card. If you click on a card in your deck, you can't add another copy, because the collection doesn't scroll to the selected card for you to click more copies in. You have to use the filter...
The filters would be more bearable if they weren't poorly coded and full of micro bugs. Probably the most annoying is how the bottom level options don't reset when you change a root option. Something that theoretically was 2 clicks becomes a complete hassle. All thing considered, it like nothing in this program adds any real value over the old one, except for the "m" hotkey, and the sidebar with the zones. Such a small thing to gain, and such downgrade in ever other sense. Here's for hoping they clean up the mess and at least make this new one as operational as the old one was.
Why are people making up bugs that are not there when dissing the beta client? I've played thousands and games and probably close to 200 drafts/sealed on the beta client and never once had the game pick cards for me in draft. Never once did F6 not work and never once did the game add all my cards to my deck in sealed or draft. Never once did attackers suddenly un-attack, and never once did cards disappear from my drafted pool. Sure there's bugs and maybe even those exact bugs but it seems highly improbable that you run into ALL those bugs at once, in just a few hours of play.
I'll tell you what most freaking annoying issues there are with the beta client:
1) Turning on the draftrecorder makes your draft window (not the client) crash on every pick, UNLESS you write the draftcap to the default folder. You can re-enter it immediately, but it's a pain nonetheless.
2) The wishlist filter in the trade screen used to work, but it broke again. Trading in general seems pretty borked in the last build, while it was fine just a few weeks ago.
3) Filtering, both for games and gametypes as well as for cards is inconsistent. Most of the time it works, sometimes it doesn't and you have to reset all the filters to actually be able to make new filters.
4) The memory leaks. Seriously. Really. Hire a proper programmer because it's TERRIBLE. Worse than in v3 by a long shot. In fact, THE main reason not to use the beta client.
Sure, I've misclicked a few times and did stupid things because I was used to v3. That is not the beta's fault, however.
"Omg the client made me mess up attackers! I ragequit MtGO now!". Clearly the beta's fault you're not using the game's excellent new attack with all feature and instead spamclick all the cards and then hit F2 without actually looking at the screen.
If you don't like it, it's fine. Just don't make **** up to get your point accross, because it ain't working.
I think I've played about five matches with the Beta and I've had attackers unattack and F6 not work.
I used it last night for a game of Commander. I don't have a dual screen set up, so my experience wasn't optimal, but it was fine. My complaints are just with the set up of the play space in Commander games (that's not going to change) and the lag(?).
Was supposed to be a 4 player game, we had 4 and there was a 3 second countdown before the game started. During that 3 seconds, 2 new guys popped in, and it turned into a 6 player game (not what I signed up for). Is this a lag issue? Or is it something else?

I'm not a huge fan of the beta client...it's OK just not trustworthy enough to use when tix are on the line IMHO.
Has anyone done a poll on the support? Just wondering how many people support, don't support, hate, couldn't care less either way about the new client.
i haven't used the beta on a long while on my old laptop and finally it worked fine.
I have a decent internet connection though, at least for my country standards (20 mbps, optic fiber to the square)
the thing is that in my old laptop it lagged as hell, now it was decent and playable. later i played on my wifes laptop and again it was pretty smooth, i still don't even dare to try to build a deck from a scratch or make a trade.

Regarding the filters, I think one of them is also backwards.
If you expand set, it will probably show you owning cards from Modern Masters even though it's not released. Select that and it will show you a bunch of cards with quantity of 0 (the ones you own copies of from other sets). If you select 'Show all versions' under one of the dropdowns, they all go away.
I also hate how you select to show all Mythics (as I do when I am selling stuff) and it shows things like my uncommon Kird Apes, because they were a mythic in a FTV.
This is just an absurd comment. Why would anyone make this up? I did play on the beta today and i couldnt F6 and my picks got autosubmitted. next time you make a comment, please don't assume youre the center of the world and that everyone has the exact same experiences and coomputers like you do.
F6 problem: if you're on a laptop where you have to hold the Shift key, you have to change your hot key settings in your Account to Shift + F6. I had that problem, asked an ORC and he helped me fix my issue

See above. This a keyboard setting problem on your end and not a bug in the beta. Is it convenient? No, obviously not, but it's also not a reason to claim the beta is the worst piece of software ever designed and will cause MtGO to die a thousand horrible deaths.
I can confirm that the hotkeys don't always work as intended. A couple of months ago, I was forced into using the beta since my f2-f4 buttons were broken, and changed the hotkeys to q,w,e,r,t,y as a result. I then changed them back when i got a new keyboard, though i ended up going back to v2 anyway since I couldn't stand the beta.
Started up the beta up yesterday for the spotlight, and none of the F-x keys were doing anything. I went into game settings to check the keyboard settings, they showed the f-x keys as my hotkeys. HOWEVER, the q,w,e,r,t,y that I had once set them too now worked, even though my game settings showed the hotkeys as f2, f3, f4 etc.
TL;DR - Don't dismiss bugs you didn't experience as lies/foolishness. The beta is busted in a myriad of ways, not all of which you may see.
The beta is so bad. So so bad. The collection screen is a joke. I can't believe a team of human beings was paid to create that. Anything to do with your decks is a nightmare. There isn't even a save button. It's just implied that your changes are saved.
I haven't read this thread so I won't go over all the other problems for the hundredth time, but wow. Beta is absurdly bad, and no, this isn't my first time using it.
I actually love the new client...once i figured out how to set it up to look and work just like the old client. I made a tutorial video showing how if anyone is interested.
The new client is superior in every way, once properly configured. Watch the video please!
Here's a sweet beta picture I took during the spot light. For some reason they changed the way tokens looked so they have a white icon in the upper right corner, instead of just having the token frame. This is not an improvement. They just changed this for the sake of change. Also you can't move your momir avatar, it's stuck next to your lands. Again, this is not an improvement, this is a removal of a feature. My momir experience is worse with that change.
You presume that they are capable of fixing these problems.
I did a draft on the new client today. Things went great until I submitted my deck. It told me there was an error and I needed to restart the client. So I restarted the client. It is entirely possible that they just mass fire everyone and work on V5. It's not a likely chance, but it's possible.
