But the biggest problem in Grixis is those cantrips cost mana, so you can't do anything else with your turn. Manamorphose is free! Turn 2 morphose into discard + removal, or into goyf, or discard + traverse are very real plays the deck can make. No time lost there.
I get the appeal of Manamorphose, but its not simply better and always free. Its sometimes a little bit tricky and there is more to it. Just imagine a case where we want to turn 2 discard and hold up Push. You have to decide between Push and Manamorphose then basically. Unless you give up casting the discard spell.
Jammed about 15 games tonight. Didn’t even try manamorphose and architects. Decided on more interaction and less threats. Upped to 4 StubD. 2 Lili (I ran 1) 2 Dismember, dropped Grims, went 11 fetches and added a forest. I playtested against Bant Coco with a friend and it was amazing how much control the TDS deck had in the game. Loved dismember and extra Stubs MD. I have 9 different modern decks in my rotation and plan on having this deck run the gauntlet. So far, my favorite matchup is burn hands down. So fun
I've been playing this deck for a while online and finally got the paper cards. Can someone explain to me the appeal of Temur-Battle-Rage? I always had 1 in my main and 2 dismembers but the pros and people here prefer 2. Am I evaluating this card wrong? Is it really insane?
Picked up the rest of the cards I needed to build the deck except for 4 Bauble, can’t find these anywhere locally. Slightly frustrating so I guess I’ll have to order them online.
We’re playing a list almost identical to the list with 9 wins from the Pro Tour, except 1 Snap MB instead of in SB. Thoughts on both swamp and forest? I feel like we get GQ/Field of Ruin pretty often and early, it’s color screwed me a few times in testing.

TBR is nuts and the main reason to play red in this deck. It allows you to race against big mana and break through chump blockers in problematic go-wide matchups. Its surprise effect will catch many opponents off guard.

TBR is our primary win con against certain strategies. There are so many lines of play that can close out the game utilizing Dismember, Wraith, Fetchlands, Thoughtsieze, with Shadow or Goyf that TBR is scary. I have had a few games where TBR closed out the game T3 and T4 when the opponent was gassed post Stub. So, don’t underestimate that card. It is really powerful in this deck and some opt for a third in the side it is such a good card.
Agreed, TBR is an incredible card for closing out a game quickly or pushing through lethal damage across chump blockers. I'd never go below 2 and sometimes play 1 in the side.
Currently on 4C with White splash, but I'd like to try 5C with Basic Forest, has anyone had success with this and if so, what did you cut for the Forest? I was thinking of cutting Delta or Mire depending on Stomping Ground/Breeding Pool in the list. Is Lavamancer a viable option against prison decks postboard? Last night I dodged those but played 2 Living End decks, and without Blue for Stubs and any Nihil Spellbombs in the side, it was rough going sideboarding. What could you sideboard in to help with these matchups as 4C White besides spellbombs? Surgical Extraction maybe?

This is what I've been running in my 5c list. There's a lot of blood moon / ponza / path type decks in my meta so the extra basic is nice. Haven't had too many issues resulting from its inclusion
I've been testing Surgical recently as a hedge against Dredge, Living End, Lingering / Snap decks etc... It's worth a shot if those decks are giving you trouble. Not sure it's what we want generally though.

I cut Bloodstained Mire for the 7th land (Forest). Because I run 2 Dismember/1 Abrupt Decay I can sacrifice the 3 life from that fetch to gain percentage points against Field of Ruin and Blood Moon. Also, I think the 5th color should remain White.
Last night during tests, I wanted to toy with the idea of running manamorphose but, opted for Stubborn Denial instead. I found that all I wanted was a better way to get Delirium on for Traverse. I think 3 Traverse is better than the 4th because when it is a dead card, 1 mana fetch a basic is not where I want to be in modern. So, considering these I increased my interaction with the opponents hand and decreased my threat pool. However, the interaction with the opponents is so high they do not get to do much till t4 without me dictating the lines of play. By t4 TDS (Traverse Death's Shadow) usually has the opponent staring at lethal. So, I opted for more interaction. I dropped my Radiant Flames for Engineered Explosives and do not regret that move. EE is so strong and it just ends certain decks as soon as it hits; I like it more than pulse as well because it dictates future lines of play, tempo, and responses from the opponent.
As for Surgical, I don't really care for Graveyard interaction. The decks that use the graveyard (Dredge, LE, Hollow One) have to be conscious of our life total. Unless it is an Alpha Swing our crack back could be lethal with TBR. So, considering the field and the raw power of TBR and those decks don't scare us as much as other decks that can't "step over" those strategies. The one card I can say SE would be awesome for is Lingering Souls... but, we have TBR.

Ah, I was replying from my phone and missed the context. I agree - I'm not interested in Architects of Will at all.

Other people have given similar answers, but I think about this slightly differently. Basically, Traverse Shadow is a Splinter Twin variant - like Temur Twin or Grixis Twin from back in the day. It's a combo deck where plan A is to assemble combo creature + combo spell, and plan B is to play a fair game, beating down with the combo creatures, and any other creatures, with some disruptive elements to protect it. The combo is creature is a large Shadow/Goyf, while the combo spell is TBR.
There are some differences of course. Because the combo takes some additional setup, including possibly getting a couple attacks in before the combo turn, it's more of a plan B than a plan A. Also, the combo creatures are the best creatures in the format instead of some dinky 1 and 2 power 3 drops, so the fair plan is much much stronger. Plus the interaction is different, but that's largely because of the colors we're forced to play compared to the colors that Twin was forced to play. But it is notable that we get to play the best interaction in the format in Thoughtseize, and have better removal than Twin ever did.
But the nutshell is: this is a combo deck with a strong fair game plan, or maybe a fair deck with a strong combo plan, depending on how you want to look at it. Or the matchup. Without TBR, you lose the combo half of the deck.
It's also worth noting that TBR is at its best game 1 in most matchups before your opponents can SB against you. So if you play it at all, it should probably be in the MD.
Can you guys help me out with my Sideboard ?
I am not sure on how to build it for this weekend. My meta is pretty wild but i'm likely to see decks like GDS, affinity, big mana decks like Titan Shift or Eldrazi Tron, Burn and Value-based company decks. Might appear some taxes decks as well.

I don't think you want white vs. CoCo decks. If they're grindy, you want to get under them and TBR them because they're probably grindier than you are. If they're more combo focused, you still want to TBR them because you want to close the game before they assemble their combo. Use Stubs and Brutalities and Thoughtseize to stop CoCo from ever resolving. Grindy _removal_ is good because you mostly want to try to keep their board clear, but Lingering Souls is not what you want.

Thanks for the tips everybody, I'm going to make some manabase tweaks and hopefully test out 5C with different things in the SB this weekend! Would love to play 2 basics and still feel like I can filter for lands the same way. I need to pick up an EE for sure to test over Radiant Flames, sounds like it's super versatile.
I will include the articles in the primer, thanks for sharing them!
Also, I am currently quite busy with other primers, but this one will get a little bit of polish and updated SB guides as soon as I am finished with my other work.
Golgari Charm - I was looking for the last card for my sideboard and found this to be quite useful: Regenerating my guys after a Supreme Verdict (there's a UW player here), saccing Blood Moon (there's this guy who plays a RW prison deck with main deck Moons), and -1/-1 tokens (storm, abzan, affinity and Goblin Rabblemaster from the RW player);
Kolaghan's Command - We have 3 Tron Players around here, so I think it's useful to have K. Command to return Fulminator Mages and destroy O. Stones. Also, the RW prison guy also plays Ensnaring Bridge and Challice of The Void;
1/1 Liliana Split - I simply do not have my second LotV yet =(
The decks I listed above are also the reason I'm playing 4C instead of 5C: not being dead to field of ruin/spreading seas/blood moon.
R1: Gb Tron - 2x1
G1: 7/6/5 cards hands sucked. I kept 4 on the draw just to be sure the guy was playing Tron as I suspected. I scooped up after seeing mine + Map, and had the advantage of the opponent not knowing my deck for sideboarding. I boarded in 2 Fulminator Mages, 2 Ancient Grudges, 1 Maelstrom Pulse and 1 Surgical Extraction (just in case, right?).
G2: T1 IoK, Turn 2 Flayer, Turn 3 Shadow + Shadow. He played Wurmcoil Engine on his T3, but I had ancient Grudge on the graveyard + TBR to win.
G3: I played Iok + TS on first two turns, stripping a Karn + Fatal Push, leaving him with Push + O stone. Played Goyf into push, and had Fulminator Mage the turn after to stop him from assembling Tron. Then I traverse for shadow + shadow from hand, opponent plays O. Stone. K Command. to blow stone and return Fulminator was enough for him to concede.
R2: UR Gifts Storm - 2x0
Not much to say. I did my thing and stripped his hand combined with a fast clock both games.
R3: RW Sun and Moonish Prison with Ensnaring Bridge - 2x1
This guy plays mostly a Sun and Moon list, but does not have Nahiris or Emrakul. Instead, he plays Ensnaring Bridge for an even harder lock, has some utility low power creatures like Goblin Rabblemaster and Pia and Kiran Nalaar and some walkers (Chandra ToD, Ajani Vengeant and Koth of The Hammer).
G1: I started quite fast on losing life and playing creatures. He was able to kill a Shadow and lock a goyf with Ajani Vengeant. Then he played Bridge and helixed me with ajani, bringing me to 3 life. My goyf finally untapped and I topdecked abrupt decay to blow bridge and ajani and win on the following Turn.
G2: I fast rabblemaster dealt some damage. When I managed to stabilize the board with some bigger creatures, he played wrath of god and Ajani finished the game.
G3: I had all the answers for bridges and planeswalkers with abrupt decay, k. command, discard spells and goyf + shadow on the battlefield to finish the game quickly.
R4: Affinity - 1x2
G1: I took some damage from Vault Skirge + Signal Pest, but was able to kill both and start attacking. Opponent played Hazoret, which prevented me from attacking on the ground with my 4/5 goyf and 5/5 shadow. Died to an Inkmoth Nexus with 2 TBR + Terminate in hand and no red mana.
G2: Once again, Vault Skirge + Signal Pest on opponent's first turns. Fortunatelly I drew lingering souls the turn after to make things even. After that, my beefy ground creatures took the game over.
G3: I opened a 7 card hand with ancient grudge + golgari charm + goyf + 2 fetches + 2 cards i cant remember. Opponent starts with Inkmoth, Signal Pest, Memnite, Mox, Vault Skirge. All I could think was "so happy I have this G. Charm". I drew Street Wraith and cycled it looking for an IoK or Push, found bauble. Bauble revealed a fetch on top of my deck, and I thought that could be useful to play goyf on T3 and hold grudge from grave or push from hand. On his second turn, opponent floats mana with mox, plays a second one and plays the one card I did not wanna see: Master of Etherium. Change of plans, my T2 would not be Golgari Charm but Grudge instead to kill this guy, and wait to charm on the following turn. Opponent played Cranial Plating and I did not survive to have a 3rd turn.
Overall, I really liked the deck. I have to play some grindier matches to see how it behaves, but until now it felt great!
Any tips or advices? 4C with 2 basics and fulminators vs 5c with 1 basic and counterspells? K. Command: understandable or total crap?

Here's an article Immanuel wrote on his list for the recent tour:
http://www.mtgmintcard.com/articles/writers/immanuel-gerschenson/traversing-at-pro-tour-rix
I've also found all of Magnus Lantto's articles on Traverse Shadow to be extremely useful, although most comprehensive ones are from mid-2017 they are still great for outlining general sideboarding plans etc:
http://www.mtgmintcard.com/articles/writers/magnus-lantto/the-ultimate-deaths-shadow-matchup-guide
Reid Duke wrote on the deck in his CFB article series "Thoughtseizes and Fatal Pushes," it's part 4 of that series and features him playing on MTGO and his overview/opinions on the deck:
https://www.channelfireball.com/articles/thoughtseizes-and-fatal-pushes-part-iv-traverse-shadow/
Last but not least, there's the DeadOnBoard "Ultimate Death's Shadow Primer and Tournament Report" which is the most sizable guide/report I've found. It especially helps to examine lines the author took during the tournament:

I've written a couple more articles about Traverse Shadow at DeadOnBoard since then, but that one is definitely the best.
