Has Grixis has taken over Jund's role as the premier BR strategy? Is the BG strategy Abzan better than Jund? Has Jund has merged permanently into DSJ?
Tradional Jund is Tier 2 now, coz it seems it's not the optimal build. No results have been put up lately with the deck.
Yes..I know it has been around for ages, but does it seems pointless to optimise a deck which looks sub-optimal in the first place?
Jund is dead, long live the King?
Since when is tier 2 considered a "dead" deck? More importantly, if that's the way you feel, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Honestly... I could be highly biased... but I feel like the only reason Jund is "tier 2" now is a shift in our tiers are being calculated.
I mean... it just won a major event weeks before being demoted ._. Jund is still 3% of the meta if you exclude MTGO.
I think Jund is closer to tier 1 than Nightfall is... but eh what do I know

Jeeeez.....someone doesn't know how to handle a bit of push-back (insecurity issues Chaos21?).....just wanted to reflect on the deck in the meta and have an open discussion.....no critic on beloved Jund tho
This comment seems dimmer than your first. Chaos021 doesn't own the Jund archetype so what's it going to do chaos021? What's the point of this "conversation"? You have people trying to talk about how a tier 2 deck isn't a "dead" deck. Who cares and what's the point?
Seriously, at least 3% of the metagame. Either you don't understand what that means and it's a dumb conversation; or you do and you're a troll.

Surely there's no need to resort to childish insults and hostility here - the guy simply asked a valid question about Jund's current position in the metagame.
Any player who has invested (or is about to invest) 2 grand in a deck has to be at least somewhat concerned about the current developments in Modern and the viability of their favorite deck going forward.
My two cents on the matter are the same as most people's: if you want to play the 'best' deck in Modern and take down GPs, yes, you're probably better off switching to DSJ or Abzan.
Jund will never be a dead deck though, keep playing it if that's what you enjoy, mastering a weaker deck is more important than just picking up a new one, etc... It's all been said before.
DSJ is top dog right now. Good thing Jund is a 50/50 deck and we can beat them.
Hello guys, new to this forum.
I'm brewing a Bob'n Flayer list.
Trying to be faster to solve problems against a control/aggro meta ...
I'll try something like this today in my lgs: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/grim-jund-4/

I could be wrong... but I feel like it's either Bob or flayer... not both.
I'm a little bumbed I ended up 2-4 at the 1k. 100% my fault. (misplayed game 1 and it went all down hill after that)

Agreed. Jund is a 50/50 deck, except for the Big Mana matchups, wish they all were 50/50
You can run both Bob and Flayer, if you want. There is basically no restriction regarding that. However, basically no Jund deck has been successful with Flayers (regardless of Bob being included or not) so its up to everyone to decide. I personally don't like him and have the opinion FLayer belongs to Junk and Bob to Jund.

I don't know, I feel like we're OK vs certain big mana matchups (like scapeshift and Bant Eldrazi).
Eldrazi Tron isn't "terrible" either. The only Big Mana deck I feel we don't want to face ever is straight up tron.
Bant Eldrazi is not considered a Big Mana deck, its more a midrange deck. And against Scapeshift we definitely are unfavoured, although it not being that bad like vs. Tron. Eldrazi Tron is just a pile of cr***, but veery annoying to deal with. Ofc its not as bad as Tron, but still quite bad.
I agree that Tron is the worst of the worst but all those other decks are still unfavoured.

I'm more interested to see how Glorybringer is performing right now rather than any of the Gods. I always told myself I would totally play Falmetongue Kavu if it were modern legal.

Honestly.. as someone who has been on Jeskai Flash or Grixis Control since twin got banned...
I don't feel like out big mana matchup is "that" abysmal.
With x4 Lilianas and x3 terminates (plus damnation SB) I really don't have an issue with Eldrazi Tron or Scapeshift.
It could very well be personal bias though since I've only been on Jund a month... but I would say Eldrazi Tron and Scapeshift are no worse than 60-40.
Although I lost vs Eldrazi Tron over the weekend. It was partially my fault. I didn't bring in any artifact hate and he chaliced me for three game three 0_o
Well, play some more Jund and you'll see how miserable things can get.
Been playing and testing the matchup.
In fact Jund beat Eldrazi Trom in the last GP.
Yeah, cool, I also beat Eldrazi Tron 2-0 at FNM the other day after sticking Bob, topdecking removal like a maniac and causing my opponent to tilt and misplay. So?
Nobody's saying it's an impossible matchup - it's just completely miserable and very far from 50/50.

I don't know... I feel like if you know the matchup well you can navigate it to 60-40 at the worst. (closer to 50/50 post sideboarding)
It just doesn't seem "completely miserable" to me. Like I said... I played Jeskai Flash prior to Jund.
Flash vs Eldrazi Tron... that was an abysmal matchup.
The only match up which feels absolutely awful is Tron.
Part of my bias could be that I used to play Jeskai Flash. Flash also had bad big mana matchups. Titan Shift, Tron, and Eldrazi Tron all bad matchups.
Jund vs Eldrazi Tron feels leagues better than Flash vs Eldrazi Tron (though regular tron is worse).
Maybe that assessment is incorrect.
EDIT: Basically what I am saying... it can't possibly be worse then other tier 2 decks
Even Suicide Jund has a bad big mana matchup.
So you're saying a super fast, disruptive, aggressive deck like DSJ has a bad Tron matchup, yet a slow mid-range deck like Jund is 60/40 'if you know the matchup well'?
I find it hard to believe you've actually played any meaningful matches with this deck.
I'm both a Titanshift and Jund Player. FWIW, and from my own games, I've never once lost against Jund when I played Titanshift. You have baloth to discard into Lotv, and around 10 live topdecks in the late game. You play Titan into terminate, but you don't give a rat's ass because you just fetched valakuts and start doming for 6 with every land / ramp spell. From Jund's POV, you either have to blow out the deck with Fulminator into extraction, or resolve goyfs and beat him down before you inevitably lose 2-3 turns later
Connect with flyer, knows what Bob will reveal and draw is such an awesome combination!
Played with this list yesterday at my lgs, won 3 tied 1
First: tron - g1 Bob hiring him until he draws a removal ( I drew some good disrupts with Bob) followed by a goyf 4/5 when died and my opponent concedes to g2.
G2 he Mulligan to 5, no lands and concede the matchup.
Second-Merfolks:g1 easily solved with a tons of removals, the combination of Flayer, Bob and no damage or less damage each turn.g2 he draws 4 spreading seas and gg.
G2 while I was trying to keep my abrupt decays to solve the spreading seas problem he can't have any Lord or big creature in the field,so I we draw the game.
Third - tokens bw: Liliana tlh on bitterblossom tokens and damnation solved the problem.
Fourth-Titan Shift:
G1 Bob and Flayer had made a duet very well in this game too, beating the opponent before he could find the pieces of the combo and when he did I had the disrupts and Liliana otv to solve that.
G2 was more about controlling the board with fulminators and a Flayer leaving no time (or lands) to my opponent.
What I saw with that is we could more aggressive with big mana decks (flayer followed by goyf) and more control against aggro or creature heavy(flayer and Bob drawing the right answers).
