Chalice isn't the card holding elves back. We main 4 cavern of souls. Chalice isn't really all that widely played anyway. The amount of people that play elves probably wouldn't change significantly one way or another if it went away. Is Chalice even a card that is up for consideration of being banned?
I think so. It's the only card I can think of other than Ballista that could be banned and would affect the deck. If Ballista gets banned, we're right back where we were before.

Can we please stop the ban talk before a moderator infracts everyone? It's not allowed in deck threads.

I'm gonna pick up the elf gauntlet again for a while after I "got the bug" at GP Birmingham.
Can't promise how long I'll be on the elf train, but as one of the first adopters of the modern incarnation of the deck when collected company was initially spoiled, it feels good to be back.

Modern: G Tron, Vannifar, Jund, Druid/Vizier combo, Humans, Eldrazi Stompy (Serum Powder), Amulet, Grishoalbrand, Breach Titan, Turns, Eternal Command, As Foretold Living End, Elves, Cheerios, RUG Scapeshift
Having a hard time against BG Tron. What's the best game plan for it? I ran an Abzan build before but I'm going back to GB Elves since I'm more comfortable with it.
Nevermind - I realized I have a 1 month premium subscription from an event a couple years ago I've been holding on to.
Merriam basically summarized the deck and explained his card choices. He gave a nod to the BG variants with Shaman + Thoughtsize SB (which I prefer), but said W has the edge with the combo and SB cards.
Said he would tweak his deck to the following. Personally I prefer Westvale Abbey over Nykthos, but then again I'm not playing in the semi finals of major events.

I watched the coverage of him playing that deck but I was so confused by only running one Vizier of Remedies if you are attempting to run the infinite mana combo in the deck... With such easy removal in the format right now, you would want a second at least, right?

I think 1 is definitely the correct number of vizier in the elves build. The combo is just a different way to win other than the overrun. 4 cocos and 4 chords also help assemble the combo, and you can use the stack and priority to your advantage if they cast removal to still generate infinite mana. Finally, Ezuri + 2 Devited Druids + 1 open mana also gives infinite mana to use Ezuris overrun infinite times.

Ross also mentioned that devoted druid is an excellent mana dork that helps when your oponent kills your turn 1 creature because by itself represent 2 llanowar elves per turn (at least once). Sometimes you will play devoted druid turn 2 and vizier turn 3 for a quick victory but most of the time that's not possible thanks to fatal push, paths and bolts.
what do you guys think about the mana base?? nykthos over westvale abbey??

I think I still want the ETernal Witness instead of the one off Elvish Visionary. Not sure about Abbey vs. Nykthis. I think when you have enough mana/devotion for nykthos you're already winning ,aren't you? Whil Westvale saves you from each deck with boardwipes/massburn but no PTE. Might be wrong tho^^
In the sideboard he is playing 2 Lead the Stampede which I would have considered 2 Nissa, Vital Force. In which matchups do you want which card? I think the Leads might have the edge due to costing only 3 mana while Nissa at 5 can be hard at some heavy disruptive matchups.

Modern: GW Hatebears | Death and Taxes | Eldrazi and Taxes | Abzan Liege | Abzan Company

Tiny Leaders: Too many decks to keep track of
Pauper: RIP UR Drake | Mono B | GBx Goodstuff | Jund "Melira"

Thank you everyone! I didn't even spot the whole regenerating Devoted Druid as an additional infinite mana source also! That's pretty awesome!
As for the Lead the Stampede, I run them in the mainboard and they are definitely better than Nissa because they save you from Thoughtseize and IoQ which are staples in a lot of the decks that run black. It's a card that allows you to keep tempo even if they are able to wrath.

It's not the regenerating ability from Ezuri, it's Ezuri's +3/+3 that allows 2xDevoted Druids to continue growing in size and continue generating infinite mana in the process.
The combo has nothing to do with regenerate ability. Regenerate doesn't save a creature that's put into graveyard beacuse it has 0 thougness.
The combo works this way:
-You have 2 devoted druid without summoning sickness in play, 1 more source of mana and an ezuri.
-You tap those devoted druids for 2 mana, use its ability to untap itself, tap again for a total of 4 mana, using the other mana source, activate ezuri's +3+3 ability.
-Now your devoted druids are both 2/4, which you can untap 3 times and tap for a total of 6 mana, repeat the +3+3 process and every time you do this you get 1 extra mana. Once you have 10000000000000000 mana on your pool.
-Activate ezuri a bunch of times until those devoted druids are lethal attackers.
Worth noting that you also need an Elvish Archdruid or Champion in this setup. The Devoted Druids need to be 1/3s or else they will die during step 2. So you have two Devoted Druids, one Archdruid, one Ezuri, and at least one open land. The Devoted Druids are 1/3 because of Archdruid. You can tap them twice for four mana, making them -1/+1, tap the land, pump with Ezuri making them 2/4, tap them 3 times for a total of 6 mana, repeat.

Street wraith would go the route of probe in that it's a free draw spell for 2 life with upside in decks that use it
