so is it fair to run 2 spirebluff canals over 2 sulfur falls?
I'd say it's just better to play Spirebluff Canal instead of Sulfur Falls. There are some marginal cases where Sulfur Falls might be better, but if you can't make it to turn 3, none of them matter.
I've had a few hands that would have been great if they had any other lands than a sulfur falls, so I might try the fast land instead

I remember having awkward hands with Sulfur Falls (not very often). Since I've switched to the Canals, it solved that issue and allows me to mulligan less often and take less damage!

I'd like to talk a bit about sideboarding against Dredge, mostly about what to take out: Most lists run 2-3 gravehate cards which obviously come in, together with 1-3 extra Wrath effects, so on average you're bringing in 5 cards
The first thing that comes out is any mainboard Vendilion Cliques as it just gives them extra dredges. After that it becomes a little less clear however: it feels natural to go into the "kill all the things" plan and board out counterspells, but I don't think that is correct as spot removal barely slows them down. Counterspells however can slow them down much better as it forces them to rely on just their turn-draw dredge. There's also the option to board out AV, but it should be possible to stall them enough to resolve an AV, and you just want to see as many cards as possible to draw as much gravehate as possible. Because of this, I've been boarding out all four Lightning Bolts; whilst Lightning Helix can both kill an Amalgam and sponge the hit somewhat, bolt basically turns into Healing Salve which is just not worth it
What do you guys think? How do you board against dredge?
You could be drawing anything and it would be devastating with RIP in play If they can't remove the enchantment, it's 1/1 and 2/1 beatdown plan for them.
I don't think that Clique can give any valuable information. Also, the good thing about Clique is that it gives information and deals with their best card while providing a clock, and the faerie will hardly do that in that matchup. I agree on Electrolyze-->Staticaster, and taking out Emrakul may be fine. I like Nahiri there because it exiles, even if it's expensive. What your logic behind the swap between Negate and Remand?
And I agree with Bear, counterspells feel kinda ok in that matchup. Maybe shaving AV is the right move...
I believe WoTC's new policy is to make sure that every color can enjoy the exciting gameplay mechanic of making undercosted dudes and then turning them sideways. Clearly the future of magic.

I'm still a huge Dredgevine advocate. If you can counter the draw spells, i.e. Cathartic Reunion, it really hinders their plan for a few turns. Negate is a hard counter

I really like Clique against Dredge post board. That's going to be a clock for me and I can target myself to dig deeper for a relevant hate card. I take out AV, and Remand first.
Remand seems really good to me though. Stalls them, digs you deeper, and interacts favourably with Conflagrate and Faithless Looting flashbacks.
What do you think about cutting some amount of spot removal?
Lightning Bolt is expendable but I think it's usually better than AV or Remand. Often I am faced with doing something productive and leaving up Remand. When I leave up Remand against dredge I've usually regretted it. But YMMV.
I would go for:
out:
-3av
-emrakul
-clique
-1 manaleak
in:
+runed halo
+negate
+static caster
+verdict
+2 grayvehate
I don't understand the idea behind leaving in Remand and taking out Mana Leak. Mana Leak can stop Nature's Claim, Cathartic Reunion, or the creatures they hope to later hardcast. Remand isn't effective enough in that matchup and Clique is easily better than other cards like bolt. Static caster can do a ton of work.
I agree with both of your points.
Clique feels very weak to me, and remand atleast cantripping, as well as hard countering conflagrate, makes it feel better than leak. Depending on the board, id cut both though.
Counterspells stop dredge pretty well; if they just have to rely on their drawstep dredge and you can counter faithless looting and cathartic reunion the deck loses a lot of velocity. Remand might sometimes help them however (remand reunion and they get to discard four cards) and ia awkward against one-drops so although I still keep it in I also think it is the worst of the mainboard counterspells.

Perhaps Negate should be boarded in as well?

I am kind f sad that this deck is getting less popular tournaments. What counters this deck most of all? It definitely shot up in playability for a while but it has gone down. What does everyone think?

I'm actually quite happy. I don't want to face mirror matches. I'd prefer to focus my deck on other things.

Got my butt handed to me by Grixis control, and more people have been playing that lately. Also Geist is making a resurgence in a lot of areas and the Nahiri list does not pair up well with Jeskai Flash unless you are mainboarding a few Verdicts (which I do).
I think an adjustment to more boardwipes and lots of Rest in Peace's will be just fine moving forward.
I have personally been on Grixis Delver the last two weeks because it has better matchups in my local meta.

I ended up beating Grixis Control on the weekend. I mean maybe he just drew bad game 3 and then made a risky play by playing a fulminator mage and I was able to punish him with remand and then tap out into an eslpeth into his one open mana (I was far ahead on lands, he was stuck on 4 and I was able to draw into my 6th for my elspeth off my remand)
who is favoured in the Grixis control matchup?
are we favoured vs abzan coco decks? I played a bunch of games vs it and just couldn't seem to win. are many of the decks running spike feeder archangel combo now?
I don't think I like sideboarding Remand out against Dredge. It's phenomenal value when it counters a Cathartic Reunion or a flashbacked Conflagrate/Faithless Looting. This isn't precisely an apples-to-apples comparison, but as Merfolk, I'm sideboarding it IN against Dredge. Sweepers are obviously your best weapon if you have them, but I wouldn't underestimate the power of Remand against them.
As for who's favored in Grixis vs. Jeskai... honestly, I have no idea. I'll let others weigh in on that.
