It's already hard enough for D&T players to know if they're posting their lists in the right section. Between hatebears and E&T, it's getting really hard to know where people should be discussing their decks. And if E&T didn't need its own primer before, "Death & Staxes" doesn't need one now. The only thing that's different between your list and typical E&T is that you've traded in your Vials for SSG and your Paths for Chalice of the Void.
I like your list, but I think that creating a new primer for it is ridiculous.
Playing millions of cards every turn... Slowly and systematically obliterating any chance my opponent has of winning... Clicking the multitude of locking mechanisms into place... Not even trying to win myself until turn 10+ once I have nigh absolute control... Watching my opponent desperately trying to navigate the labyrinthine prison that I've constructed... Seeing the light of hope fade and ultimately extinguished in an excruciatingly slow manner... THAT'S fun Magic.

Near Mint: The same as Slightly Played, but we threw some Altoids in the box we stored it in to cover up the scent of dead mice. Slightly Played: The base condition for all MTG cards. I'm very happy with this list so far. I'll go through some of the cards.
Aven Mindcensor is basically always boarded out for games 2 and 3. Maybe this means I don't play against enough decks that are tutoring, but this card is first up to cut if I want to cut anything. Serra Avenger has outperformed my expectations by a lot! Can't imagine playing the deck without her now Thalia, Heretic Cathar is so good when she's good. And when she isn't particularly good, she's still useful. She feels good in matchups that I feel weak in (like hyper aggressive strategies). Sword of Fire and Ice stays in. It just wins games. Makes me dream of the glory of Stoneforge Mystic.
Fatal Push has been moved to the sideboard, on account of not having reliable enablers for revolt in the 1-4 turns (where it should be most powerful). Still great to come out of the board when I need more removal.
For the record, this list was built using a list Darktutor posted over in the Deadguy Ale thread as a starting point. Keep up the good B/W work Darktutor!

I agree that they are really similar but honestly this thread is already messy enough. Someone just posted a facebook group for an alternative discussion platform to specifically speak about one variant of DnT and as Mr_Bote said it is really hard to have an organized discussion here. So already on this one page of the thread there are two people unhappy with the many different lists and discussions flying around. With all the different splash variants the discussion in this thread is all over the place. As you said yourself you didn't want to post your list as it is quite different from the "original" ones here. So is this one but I still want to discuss it - therefore I opened up a new thread.
Flickerwisp is missing too btw, the typical EnT is black white, my list runs a playset of Smashers - you see where I'm going?
(Eldrazi Tron and Eldrazi Aggro have different threads too as do Abzan and Jund...)
There really is no gain in jamming every deck that contains Thalia into one thread.
the benefit is they aren't printing a better card than Bob, so is it worth it? You always be able to move the card and if its not printed in MM17 then it might spike up in price after.
Well, yeah, I can definitely sell them again. Although, thinking of either only buying 2 or a set.
@Mr_bote, I'd forego the dark confidants in favor of something cheaper if I were just starting out and didn't know the deck all that well. The confidant slots are flexible and many things could fit. I think blade splicer is good at the moment.
It would make the curve better and a good combo for displacer. Will try it out after testing if Smasher is for me. In my playtest recently of the deck, it was mostly stuck in my hand and was usually able to cast it more freely when it I was already winning. Although, it's still a nice top deck during the late game. If ever I buy Bob, should I buy the minimum of 2x or whole playset.
Well the card is played in jund literally always so I think having a set is just good for the future, however for us im not sure if money is the issue or not but having access to all 4 is certainly something to look towards

A bunch of different lists are consolidated into this one thread because there are a bunch of different ways to fill out flex slots in this deck. If we all started a new thread every time we came up with something new, you'd see different threads for mono-white, every two-color combination (including two WB and WG variants for D&T and E&T), plus Bant and Abzan D&T.

I know that aven mindcensor has fallen out of favor for the past year but I think it may be in a better position at the moment. Tron is resurgent and valakut decks with prime titan and scapeshift are more popular than ever. I also think that flyers are more important now than they were even last minute month.

Your success in playing dnt/hatebears is determined largely by your ability to read and prepare for the meta that you will be playing in. Furthermore, it has an absolutely brutal learning curve. Expect to lose; a lot.

Mindcensor wins me a lot of games because my opponents can't pay 2 to get around it. It's currently the only search tax in my deck; I run two in the maindeck and a third one in the sideboard.

I don't claim to have reinvented the wheel or to have created an entirely new deck. I said that it was a mixture between a DnT variant and Eldrazi Stompy. As I mentioned in the other thread it is actually a Legacy deck that I try to port into Modern (by the way it is in different threads there as well). If you want to call it "just another EnT variant" so be it - I don't mind. The thing is that it is missing some of the core cards of regular DnT, namely Wisp and Vial besides other differences, that all the other variants of DnT you mentioned are playing. And it plays chalice which is not seen in any kind of "traditional" DnT list. Therefore it does not belong in this thread. Simple as that.
Honestly I think it is good that Hatebears has its own thread. This way things are way more clean and organized. The aim should be to have a good discussion about competitive lists which works better if things are not extremely messy and torn in different directions. Why would you try to force it all into one thread?
Both, this thread and "Eldrazi and Staxes", will profit more and develop better if we try to keep things separated. I fail to see why creating one enormous thread where we jam every color combination and different approach is beneficial in any way.
(I already gave you examples before but here have some more: Uwr Nahiri and Uwr Midrange, Cruel Ultimatum and Grixis Control, Eldrazi Processor and BW EnT etc.)
So with this in mind why not talk about actual DnT lists now instead of arguing about this. If you want to continue the discussion - pm me.
I personally think the ideal platform for D&T-related discussion would be a middle ground, a sort of D&T forum of its own (note: ideal). I do feel that browsing through this thread feels very scattered-brained at times, with concurrent conversations about different colours and concepts. But I also I feel that starting independent discussion groups separates everyone and prevents cross-pollination of ideas, which has helped us get to where we are today.
Having said that, allow me to quickly interject this ongoing discussion to make some comments about BW E&T and give a report about SCG Regionals (@Kirwan's Game Store).
I played in SCG Regionals at Kirwan's Game Store this past weekend, and chose to play BW Eldrazi & Taxes. I wasn't sure what deck I wanted prior to the event, but decided on E&T since it has strong matchups against unfair decks as well as better matchups against Affinity (and incidentally Elves, Tokens, etc). I took it to FNM the night before, and comfortably went 5-0 with it against Abzan, Affinity, Eldrazi Tron, Abzan Company and Living End, which made me feel pretty confident in the deck.
I went 6-3 and placed 25th out of 244 players. I went 2-0, 2-1, 6-1 and ultimately lost two potential win-and-in's to fall to 6-3. The deck felt very strong, and showed that it could handle a wide range of matchups. You can find a much more thorough writeup of the event on my blog (which includes the decklist). But for brevity, I'll list my matchups here:
The final two matchups were a bit unfortunate for me, since I felt like I was ready for just about anything else. But I can't quite complain, since a lot of things went my way throughout the day.
What do people sideboard in against Bant Eldrazi? It feels like a bad matchup for E&T, and I realized my sideboard doesn't have anything to deal with it.
I think that E&T is heavily favoured against Bant Eldrazi. I've played against it a few times in GPT's and always won. We use our Eldrazi Displacer much better than they do, and are able to manipulate the board really well. I generally save my removal for their Displacers, and play towards a board state where I have Eldrazi Displacer, Flickerwisp, and open mana. That makes it very difficult for them to attack into us (which is the only way they can win), and anything else like Wasteland Strangler or TKS and they're very unlikely to win.
So, to those using Bob in EnT, how does it feel removing Reality Smasher for Bob? Better?
I've never liked Reality Smasher much, even though it was popular when the deck was first coming up. The main reasons are 1) it costs so much, and 2) it's a dumb beater that doesn't synergize as well with the rest of the deck, even though there are mid-to-late game scenarios where Reality Smasher will win you games. Dark Confidant is very strong. In a vacuum, it's a much stronger card than both Blade Splicer and Reality Smasher. It's a 2-drop, which is huge, since in my opinion the true core of the deck are its 3-drops. It allows you to play an early creature that can net you more cards while offering your opponent difficult decisions as to what to kill. Take that for what it's worth, I've liked it very much so far.
Many of the people in this forum remember me, newer people may not but I will be back and posting more frequently. I had to sell my collection awhile back including death and taxes deck. Now that I have the money I am rebuilding what I once had starting with the mono-white death and taxes and the mono white eldrazi taxes. Below are my starting points for each.
I have been testing thraben inspector in varying numbers these last few weeks, and my biggest takeaway has been that they require something to give them more power through synergy. This could be any number of cards. I have tested them with Sky hussar, Smuggler's Copter and Honor of the Pure. The latter 2 have tested better, but all three require specific deck construction to make them worth the slots. If you don't run cards along those lines your overall power level will drop and you'd be better off with other one drops like Kytheon. Thraben inspector also has the added benefit of making Kor Skyfisher a whole lot more playable by giving you more lines that lead to Skyfisher not being a burden upon the deck and letting his ability to re-buy your grindy effects to shine.
As for Copter and Heart, I think Copter is good while Heart is not. Not many of our low cmc creatures can pilot heart on their own and the creatures that can are the same creatures we want to be getting aggressive with. Piloting with multiple creatures is a thing, but that requires a much stronger board presence which will be troublesome against the decks where the vehicles actually shine. I will say that copter has been great though, and I have added cards like Sword of light and Shadow and crucible of worlds to the maindeck to support the copter which has made the copters ability much better in long games.
...it is quite different from the "original" ones here.
I often feel this way with the various directions I run with the D&T core. I've drawn criticism for lists I've posted here in the past when I do things like shave a Flickerwisp or Æther Vial. The response I'd get to what I've been doing with the core of this deck lately would make posting here pointless, and also confuse new players about how they should be starting out with the deck.
...it plays chalice which is not seen in any kind of "traditional" DnT list. Therefore it does not belong in this thread. Simple as that.
I've played Chalice of the Void in this deck for a long time now, so that's nothing new. The only reason I don't now is that it doesn't mesh well with the 12 1-drops I have in the deck.

“Modern has provided us a non-rotating format that is far more accessible than Legacy or Vintage, but still retains many of the qualities that people enjoy in those formats—such as a more stable metagame, the ability to play and tweak the same deck week after week, and simply a much more powerful card pool than Standard.”

Is 4 Horizon canopy the right number in mono W D&T ?
I was asking myself the same thing. I had not seen it as a four of before.
The Wescoe list seems quite aggressive / tempo to me, so I guess it works in his build.
Ideally you can exchange land for gas in case of a flood and the opponent should be dead before the lifeloss matters.
I imagine four to be a little painful in the more controlling variants.
Wescoe plays 4 canopy in pretty much every variation of DnT/hatebears he plays, if that tells you something... I'm not sure what is RIGHT, but i believe that at least 2 are a must, and you can play the full playset if you have confidence in your burn/aggro matchup...
Well I'm slowly losing my mind going 2/3 3 times in a row in the online leagues. Apparently everyone is playing merfolk, elves, or eldrazi.
I've just got Wesco's list but with 4 Selfless spirits some times instead of the avengers & anthems.
Soon I will have no hair left to pull out.
I think this is what happens when you take a list created by someone to target a specific metagame and play in a completely different metagame. Mono-W D&T has a naturally horrendous matchup against those decks. If that's what everyone seems to be playing, maybe you just gotta put the deck away for a short while until it's favourable to play it again.
Even if wesco uses inspector I'm so not a huge fan. I have used most of the one drops available at one Rome or another depending on meta, and many times just forgo the slot entirely. Thraben inspector without a way to pump will usually just chump block and give you a clue, if you're blinking it for more clues you are probably in trouble in more ways, the the I use the most are judges familiar in delver and control metas, dryad militant in goyf and storm metas, and icatian javelineers in infect affinity and other small creature metas (also hierarch in gw is an auto include). However in an open meta most times I will just drop the 1 drop slot all together for more impactful 2 and 3 drops.

Wescoe plays 4 canopy in pretty much every variation of DnT/hatebears he plays, if that tells you something... I'm not sure what is RIGHT, but i believe that at least 2 are a must, and you can play the full playset if you have confidence in your burn/aggro matchup...
