I know it is vs Storm but I have atm 4x Leylines, 4x Collective, 3 Thoughtseize, 4x Inquistion and 4x K-Kommand to fight Storm... shouldnt that be enough? (luckily I dodged Storm...hate the deck :D)

Kambal is for the Storm matchup. Can also do work in 8rack and other control matchups, but it's mainly there for Storm.
Kambal is also great vs burn, right? I think if it's great in just those two matchups (and has some side action vs 8-rack) it's worth a 1x or 2x slot in the board. I am trying out the deck for the first time tonight. Looking forward to it.
so iv been playing this deck on MTGO all weekend and i cant seem to get a handle on the deck . I own it in real life and i like it alot ,i come from playing jund for over a year along with abzan and other mid range decks and that may be the problem . I have a hard time closeing games out before other decks do the modern thing . i guess im saying the deck feels real slow compared to other decks .

Hi guys! New to the forums and just started building this deck and testing online. Really loving the deck and agree with minimizing the white in the deck. Looking for some feedback on my list to see if I should make any changes. Thanks in advance!
I went 3-1 with the deck last night.it felt pretty good. The Tron matchup felt basically unwinnable though, even with a total of 2 Blood Moons and 3 Molten Rains in the 75. I'm sure Swiftspear helps a bit in this matchup. I cut them from the list. Overall, it felt a bit like Jund but with more value, and less of a clock. My matchups were:
Last week I took something similar to the list I posted at the top of page 158, dropping the plains and the paths for some more Fatal pushes and a Burst Lightning.
I ended up going 1-3 in four rounds.
RG Ponza 1-2
Game one I got Blood Moon'd on turn two. This was a wonderful experience to come back to Modern to.
I ended up reaching critical mass on board several times, but in the end their topdecks brutalized mine, especially post sweepers and the like.
GW Tron 2-1
This was the matchup I was most paranoid about, because my sb options were not very tuned or prepared for it.
I ended up siding in 3 Phyrexian Revokers because I didn't have needles, and in spite of not having the tech necessary for the MU, the maindeck was able to come through just fine. Game 3 he cast Rule of Law, and I was able to leverage it against him with Pyro value for the win.
I completely expected to lose to this matchup.
SaffronOlive Siege Rhino 0-2
This matchup felt terrible, I'm unsure how you've all fared against grindy midrange decks?
The lifegain and the toughness made the burn feel really muddy, and in game 2 I misplayed by surgically extracting the rhinos themselves instead of the Unburial Rites, and it cost me the match.
Jeskai Control 1-2
This matchup felt great, black disruption lines up against most of what they're playing pretty well, especially post game 1.
They won game 1, I won game 2 feeling pretty confident, and I conceded the third game for personal reasons.
What I learned:
- I'm playing in a value based metagame.
- Collective Brutality, which I had as a 3 of, 1 main 2 side, felt terrible every single time, and rarely gave any value.
- An undealt with Kambal is really brutal
- I rarely drew either of my 2 K Commands, but I always wanted them.
The SB is more what I'm working towards than what I already have. I'm missing two Moons, a thoughtseize, and a wear/tear.
Which brings up the question: How often do you find yourselves casting both sides of wear/tear, and in what matchups does this happen?
The macabres may end up being spellbombs in the future as well. Just kinda testing everything out.
IME the problem with needing to bolt ourselves to cast Helix was so true all throughout that tournament. If I didn't need to spend the life for helix, then I could have potentially won out against the Rhino deck. Because of my curve, and because I think 3 Helix really helps out in a lot of ways, I added the basic plains back. In the near future I'm planning on switching out the Godless Shrine in favor of either another Blood Crypt or a basic Swamp, and the Wooded Foothills for another Mesa or Marsh Flats. I also like 20 lands because it helps me cast K commands more often, and have more potential for double 2CMC spell turns for the mid-late game.
TL;dr:
- awesome deck, had a lot of fun games and it's mostly favoured in the actual meta
- Collective Brutality - I'm somehow not pleased with this.
- Monastery Swiftspear - I don't understand how it would improve the deck... I never played it that aggressive to support Taylor
- Kambal, Consul of Allocation did actually nothing. Gonna have to replace it I think.
- Had problems with Going-Wide Decks -> what about Damnation in the Sideboard?
In the end I went to prices, 13.
Thx for the report. I have a few observations:
1) Fatal Push should be main deck. 3 at least IMO.
2) Lili's are sweet but she's double black on a spot that is already crowdy-ish. 4Kcomm, 4 Lingering Souls, Blood Moons...
3) Collective can help you against burn, storm and synergize with Souls and Bedlam.
4) Against Go-Wide: more pushes and perhaps Anger of The Gods SB?
I've seen good arguments for both Blood Moon (pre-emptively neutralizes Valakut, randomly hoses other greedy manabases) and Molten Rain (Sorcey spell type is more synergistic with Pyro & Reveler, less constraints on our own manabase), however it seems like Blood Moon has been vastly preferred by recent players. Is this mostly due to a prevalence of Titanshift players or are there other factors pushing Blood Moon over Molten Rain?
However, I will try Molten Raind instead, it works way better with Blood Moon in combination, which is my goal.
I don't understand why there are Dragon Claw's and the Kambal in the SB. Burn and Storm are definitely good matchups anyway. I think its wasted space which you need to handle attrition based matchups.

Burn and Storm are definitely not one of our good matchups. Our clock is too slow against Storm when they threaten to go off at any moment without sufficient pressure, which this deck lacks at times, and we are often on the backfoot against Burn. Kambal is a must have in the sideboard, even as a two of. I'm interested in your opinion on how those are good matchups.
IMO Burn and Storm are definitely not miserable matchups. Tron has a miserable matchup against those decks. But not this deck.
Mardu has tons of discard and removal, which are both good against Storm/Burn. You are running CB maindeck, the best card against Burn. You can have a decent amount of GY hate in your SB to make Storm stumble. You are taking far less dmg from your own manabase compared to GBx.
The clock is indeed missing sometimes, agreed, but compared to GBx (which has good Burn/Storm matchups) the missing of a Clock certainly doesnt make the matchups miserable. They might be 50/50 or slightly unfavourable if you want, but its definitely not autoloose imo.

It isn't an auto-lose matchup, but it's an uphill battle for sure. Storm beats us out of the board with Empty the Warrens if you don't pack any sweepers (which I recommend). Brutality in the main is a rather new maindeck addition that fights Burn and Storm, but it's still tough for us. Kambal is a really good check to Storm, as it means they cannot go off without risking losing the match, and he is really good against Burn as well; blocks all their creatures and they have to waste a Burn spell to take him out, netting us five life (two from the drain, three from the burn spell). Kambal is a must have, especially over Dragon's Claw, and it's just really good against our worst matchups overall.

Absolutely not. Tron is essentially auto-lose, especially if we don't draw our hate against them and don't present a good clock. Burn is probably a 60-40 matchup, storm is winnable but we need a good clock and to draw lots of burn to face and ensure their creatures don't stick for long. We've got game against them but they're tough to win. Any creature deck is great for us, and I think other mid-range battles are 50-50. But Tron is definitely our worst matchup followed by Burn, in my opinion.
Considering we don't have a good clock in a lot of our combo matchups, has anyone considered running a threat in the board as a one of that isn't weak to grave hate? Maybe a Rabblemaster or Hazoret in the board?
