Guys how do we beat uw control which is pupping up latly.
They have a ton of countermagic and bosejou dont work because auf 4 spreading seas and 4 ghost quarter.
About the cutting fog and adding spotremoval, i like lingering souls aswell for blocking shadows all day long.
This is what I've been playing. They don't have a ton of countermagic...and they're super slow.
Plan to beat some countermagic and maybe bring in something to blow a stony silence and you basically can't lose. Deck runs 2/3 remand or mana leak and cryptic (which is the easiest counterspell ever to beat). Post-board you need more counters and it might be wise to try and bring in echoing truth to take spreading seas off a boseiju--but they usually only have an extra three or four counters for you in the board (two or negate and a dispel).
Hi guys
Today i tested the junk matchup with a friend : just get destroyed by him (1-2 pre-sb / 0-6 after-sb)
Grave titan just do nothing vs an army of lingering souls. Leyline just retard my death 'cause he destroy all my mana rock (decay or drop a stony silence) and i can't go for the combo (+lili clock).
I can just do nothing
Any tips from players experienced with the MU?
I side in :
4 leyline
2 grave titan
2 thoughtseize
1 echoing truth
Out :
Some mana rocks, 1 unlife, 1 spoils, 3 blue pact

Have any of you guys considered shifting some number of pacts and other bits to the sideboard to maindeck the leylines?
I've generally had a really awful time of it lately with discard decks, particularly Shadow -- feels like game 1 vs. death's shadow variants is essentially unwinnable. Their clock is much faster than Jund and the extra discard spells virtually guarantee 1-2 of them hitting before you're ready to go off.
Made a run at the Spring tournament losing in the finals. Deck is always great : I'm glad there's a lot of hate out there, the deck isn't overly powerful so no SSG talks. Anyways, here's the list and a short summary.
Match 1 : Affinity.
Result : 2-1.
Notes : Won game 1 on turn 4, lost game 2 on turn 3 with an Inkmoth Nexus dealing 10 counters (thanks Arcbound Ravager / Steel Overseer for that) and won game 3 on turn 4 again. No crazy stuff, plain straight combo. But I'm so glad to have won against that deck!
Match 2 : Loam.
Result : 2-1.
Notes : weird match. Won game 1 with a turn 5 combo through 2 Thoughtseize! Game 2, kept a greedy hand with 2 Leyline of Sanctity, but didn't have enough cantrips to find the missing piece of the combo. Won game 3 easily.
Match 3 : RG Tron.
Result : 1-1-1.
Notes : lost game 1, Karn Liberated striped my lands on turn 3 (I was on the draw) and couldn't recover from an exiled Pentad Prism. Won game 2 easily. Game 3, turn 3 Karn Liberated, but with 2 lands, I tapped them and exiled 2 Simian Spirit Guide to cast Mystical Teachings fetching Pact of Negation. That's pretty much the highlight of the night. So no contest through triple Karn Liberated... I mean, he drew nothing at all and I had no lands for like 7 turns. Painful, but no contest nevertheless. So it's a great matchup, but if they land Karn, then it's almost over in my book.
Match 4 : Deathcloud.
Result : 2-0.
Notes : turn 4 game 1 and 2. Nothing to say.
Match Quarters : RG Tron.
Result : 2-0.
Notes : game 1 was a bit sketchy because I had to use Pact of Negation on turn 3 to prevent Karn. I couldn't combo on turn 4 (wasted Angel's Grace to prevent to pact's cost) and another Karn landed on turn 5. I had Phyrexian Unlife and Ad Nauseam on turn 6 with Pentad Prism. Game 2 was a turn 4 combo kill.
Semi-finals : Living End.
Result : 2-1.
Notes : same matchup, pretty much same result. The only thing I remember from this was that I lost game 1, won game 2 and on game 3, he let the combo resolve but asked me to do the whole thing. I comboed on my turn, but didn't had a land drop, so I had my deck in hand and I landed a Swamp to use Thoughtseize because I knew the only card the could have would be Ricochet Trap. It was Ricochet Trap and I took it.
Finals : Lantern Control.
Result : 0-2.
Notes : awful matchup... He milled me during game 1 and I was stuck on 3 lands, one mana shy of comboing. He used Inquisition of Kozilek to see my hand and put every land he saw in my yard knowing that's what I needed. Game 2 was just as painful, my SSG beatdown plan didn't work.
Overall, this decklist is insanely good. I had a blast having such a good run. Horizon Canopy and Creeping Tar Pit could be in my next decklist. And by the way, 8th edition City of Brass rules so much.
It need a perfect 8 with specific cards = it's nearly impossible lol
We already can kill t3 with the classic ad nauseam
T1 land (+ cantrip)
T2 prism
T3 land + ssg -> cast grace + AN
In the unlikely chance something gets banned tomorrow, bloom or ssg, what do we do? Alternatively, if ponder or preordain gets unbanned, what do we cut?

With Ponder, cut 4 Sleight. Without SSG...
- The best that comes to my mind is this :
So, Angel's Grace + Ad Nauseam, draw the whole deck, then
1) Play 3 Everflowing Chalice
2) Play 1 Mox Opal and tap it for red
3) Play Infernal Plunge and Sacrifice Memnite
4) Cast Lightning Storm or Conflagrate
Could a five color build be used to abuse bring to light as extra ad nauseums? I love the added utility of fetching some midrangy 1 of bombs out of the side. Sure it lacks the power of flash but combo decks generally like to have extra pieces of their combo. Deck already uses gemstone mines and pentad prisms, getting five colors doesn't seem too hard. This deck has come a long way and is super tight so I doubt it's worth it, but I love what bring to light does for decks that rely on key 4-5 cost spells.
That godhead tech is amazing. makes me want to build ad nauseum right away.

Beautiful. Thank you. Those Crovax. Too strong. I would run it with a one of those godheads to lock even more creature decks out after they side out their removal, seems too fun not to try. Lingering souls is another really interesting sideboard tech for this deck. Card is just a great sideboard card in general, but I love combo decks that sideboard dorks in to punish boarding in hate for dead removal. Definitely helps that it is great on defense too and can act like a super-charged moment's peace when trying to buy time to assemble the combo. How does it fair in comparison to the stock esper lists?

Also, I've been testing Noxious Revival in the sideboard to serve as a 1-off Snapcaster Mage. It's been great against discard. Horizon Canopy and Creeping Tar Pit are also good for my meta.
