Against a deck with Lightning Bolt, I most certainly wait until turn 3 to Umbra Gaddock Teeg. I don't put it against Burn or else there, I wouldn't wait since 3 damage to him would be 3 damage less to me (but this shouldn't apply since I would never side it here). Against a deck with Path to Exile, I run it out turn 2 usually. Sorry, I just realized that you said "against Twin." It really depends. We have to watch out for Lightning Bolt. They occasionally side out Lightning Bolt, especially if they lost to a huge Bogle. Some players know that their best plan against us is just to Combo and that means taking out Bolt. Others know the importance of Bolt in those occasions, like a Gaddock Teeg being cast. The other thing to worry about is Spell Snare. Many Twin players don't know how good this card is against us. It should never be sided out because it hits Daybreak Coronet, Suppression Field after side, and Gaddock Teeg after side. All in all, I cast Gaddock Teeg just hoping that it will be a speed bump that gets me there. I only go all in when it seems appropriate or we have no other choice.
I don't do that against Burn. I just try to keep a hand that can beat them. Sometimes it means Bogle and Spirit Mantle. Those can hold the fort since they cast an average of 2 creatures per game - it is a Burn deck, but with 12 creatures just like us (not counting Dryad Arbor). Sometimes it means just having Bogle and Auras. I usually mull very infrequently, so it usually takes not enough mana or too much. On Friday in game 1, I mulled a hand that had just Kor Spiritdancer, Auras, and 2 lands on the draw. I figured that 1 Searing Blaze means I lose. I still ended up losing, but only because a late Eidolon of the Great Revel and Skullcrack finished me off. I haven't really had too many poor starters against Burn (probably because I've rarely played against it) other than obvious mulligans. I do realize however, that Bogle and Aura + Spirit Link is probably nearly game over on turn 2 of the play. I played Bogle into Rancor/Spirit Link on the play at a PPTQ and it basically was game over at that point (just by having a single Umbra in hand).
I know it was long, but it was thorough. Today I played at an SCG Invitational Qualifier; 49 players and 6 rounds.
Round 1 vs. Infect. I told you it was a poor matchup. Pendelhaven into Noble Hierarch, just like both games on FNM. I Path to Exile a guy, but he doesn't lose a beat. Another Infecter and Become Immense. Turn 4 it's over. The next game is worse. I mulligan to 6 and he kills me with on turn 4 again. Slow hand for myself, although I landed Gaddock Teeg (only for Become Immense) and Nature's Claim on a Spellskite. 0-2.
Round 2 vs. BUG Midrange. Gerard Fabiano's deck. In the first game, he has all of the answers. Unfortunately for him, he shows a single Cryptic Command while at 3 life from Dark Confidant before 2 Tarmogoyf could kill me. I chumped and won a 1 life the turn before. Honestly he could have won this game, but concentrated too much on my stuff and his Bob killed him. His graveyard had fetch, Inquisition turn 1, Disfigure, Abrupt Decay X 2, and Golgari Charm all in his graveyard early in the game. I nearly wanted to quit, but I drew my way out of it and he failed to kill his Bob, while revealing a lethal Cryptic Command. In the next game, it was my turn to have all of the plays. A good draw and backup creatures for Liliana of the Veil make it easy. Rancor makes it easy. 2-0.
Round 3 vs. UR Twin. In the first game, I just have a bunch of pressure. I have 2 lands and a Path to Exile, so I'm safe, although 1 turn I thought he may have Twin and Remand. In the next game, he has Mana Leak and Negate to slow me down. But I have all 3 Nature's Claim. I destroy 3 Twin. Eventually I don't have enough blockers and when I get a lifelink Aura to suit up, he has the 4th Twin (me at 6 life). In the final game, it is more of the same. I put pressure on in the midgame with some Auras. He did a Cryptic Command on my Suppression Field (after 2 early Remand, but I put it back in play), then Vendilion Clique to ship it. He finally loses to trample from a topdecked Rancor. He told me that he punted because he could have done Pestermite into Vendilion Clique and then Twinned the next turn. Two Twin were already in the graveyard and I had no Path or Claim in hand. 2-1.
Round 4 vs. Jund Reanimator. In the first game, he does a turn 4 Worldspine Wurm with Through the Breach. He has 3 5/5 Wurms. I missed a land drop, but if I draw land, I cast Coronet and beat him in a few turns (since I have first strike, lifelink blocker, and attacker with Rancor too). I draw another Bogle, which I think buys me time. But I forgot that the Wurms had trample and I'm at 5 from a Worldspine Wurm. In the next game, I play turn 2 Rest in Peace and it seems that he's all-in on Goryo's Vengeance. I also have 2 Path to Exile I hand. I do one on a Through the Breach/Worldspine Wurm and he has nothing after that. I have multiple Daybreak Coronet after other Auras. In the last game, he mulled to 5 cards and played nothing. He got stuck on 1 land for a few turns. I had Bogles and Gaddock Teeg (for Through the Breach). I kept just attacking with those since I kept a hand with no Auras, but 2 Spiritdancer and failed to draw them for a while. When I did and drew cards, it ended quickly after that. I had a single Suppression Field that I sided only for Griselbrand and any other potential card that it could hurt. He forgot to fetch, but drew the 3rd land to make it easier. 2-1.
Round 5 vs. Junk Midrange. I honestly just drew the nuts on this guy. Bogle after he turn 1 Stirring Wildwood. Multiple Rancor and Ethereal Armor ended it with a Bogle and Dryad Arbor in case. Game 2 was more of the same. My hand wasn't quite as quick, but it had a lot of resiliency. Since he was 4-0, he could still draw into the top 8. 2-0.
Round 6 vs. Burn. ID into top 8. He said that he didn't want to go to the Invitational and since I split, it's good. I don't mind playing it out, but a free win is a free win. 2-0.
Top 8 vs. UR Twin. I have the nut hand. Bogle/Rancor/double Ethereal Armor. I have a Path to Exile too, but it doesn't come down to that because of lethal. I didn't even have to Path his blocker to let lethal. It was already lethal. The next game is just really good for me. I have 2 Umbras on a Bogle, but don't want to put Daybreak Coronet because I would only have 1 Forest up with Nature's Claim and Path to Exile in hand. Eventually I do a Path to Exile and 2 Nature's Claim on his 3 Splinter Twin over many turns. He draws too many land, but I needed a single land to have the guts to play Daybreak Coronet and have Path or Nature's Claim up. I finally draw it many turns later and he does Spell Snare. Next turn, I have the other Coronet. It's game soon after that. His next 2 cards were 2 Cryptic Command. 2-0.
Top 4 vs. Burn. He scooped to me since I decided to split. The split prize was the same as 2nd place, so only 1st place would get more. I get the Invitation to the SCG Invitational for top 2 anyway. 2-0.
Finals vs. Junk Midrange. This guy is our LGS best player, but I have done well against him when I played decent decks (lost with Bloom and Breach). He has never won against my Bogles in 4 tries. Well, he got it this time. I get my hand picked apart because his seed was 1 higher than mine, so he was on the play. On the draw for him would have won me the game, but he has multiple Bobs and all of the answers. The next game is similar, but he gets low on life. Back to Nature blows me out, Engineered Explosives was rough, and drawing 6 Bogles and no Auras (after my opener of Hyena Umbra and Daybreak Coronet were Back to Nature'd). It was nice to see him finally beat my Bogles, but I would have loved to win 1st place, get my picture taken, and get the ETurtle Witness pin for 1st place. 0-2.
I started the tournament the same way I ended it, 0-2. I finished 2nd place at 6-2-1. I finally stopped the "4-2 curse."

Congrats! It's nice to here bogles doing well. How big is the invitational you got an invite to?
It's the SCG Invitational series, which the qualification lasts for a year. Since it is an East Coast company, there are 3 tournaments on the East Coast and I won't attend those. But there is one in Seattle, I heard. The SCG Invitational is actually my favorite tournament. Day 1 is 4 rounds of Standard and 4 rounds of Legacy. Day 2 is the same. Top 8 is usually Standard. I don't like it because of the format, although I love Legacy, but because the competition is very tough. You get to play the best players in the world and doing this makes you a better player. When you play players that beat you, that's how you get better. No one gets better playing somebody that you can always outplay.
I just love the competition at these tournaments and one of the years qualified, I got top 16, which was $1000 cash. $1000 for basically having 10-15 players outdo you is pretty good, I'd say. It was the most money I've won in a single tournament since 2nd place at an Open.
Oh, I forgot to say. First place is $15,000. That's serious money to me. And I didn't answer your question - usually Invitationals are 100+ players, maybe 150.

Could you post your decklist? I'm still pondering if Suppression Field is a necessary MB or SB.
I just want to point out that a game in the round vs. BUG was punted by the opponent. Now I don't know who would have won game 3, but it would have eliminated me from top 8 contention if I lost game 3. Also the first Twin player did an obvious punt by not doing Pestermite/Vendilion Clique on 5 mana instead just Vendilion Clique (to take my Suppression Field, which had been EoT Cryptic Commanded). Sorry, that was wrong. I forgot that I had another Aura to put on that would not leave him at 1 life, but I didn't play it because I saved mana for Path to Exile.
*I was thinking about what got me started on Hexproof type decks. Although I've played for a long time, I never tried anything like it until Standard Uw Delver, equipping Swords on Delver or Geist of Saint Traft. Then I did several Hexproof decks, Bant Hexproof, then RTR/Theros Naya Hexproof. When I saw Modern Bogles, I liked the idea okay. But it wasn't until I read an article by Harry Corvese called, "So you think you can Bogle?" This got me started and I even then played Hexproof in Pauper to a lot of success (previously had been doing mediocre with Pauper Control decks).

I don't know if I already mentioned this, but I too went to an event over the weekend, a local PPTQ. Wasn't too sure what to expect, but ended up going 4-3, which isn't too shabby I suppose. I wasn't too far away from top 8-ing.
Round 1: GR Tron 0-2
Whew, this was a nightmare. We already have a pretty awful matchup against tron, but I had no chance in this one. Game one I kept a sub optimal hand, and the tron player got a great one. I got obliterated hard. Game 2, attempting to avoid what happened game 1, I pitched my first hand, which wasn't great. Sadly, I had to pitch every hand after that, until I was down to 3. At least I likely would have lost this anyways.
Round 2: Naya Zoo 1-2
Now this was a round I should have won. We have a great matchup against zoo, and yet I couldn't quite bring it home. Game 1 was a fairly easy win, he played some threats, and then I got my bogle stupidly big and won. Game two, it looked like I would win too. I swung at my opponent for 15, which would have been lethal, only to have it Deflecting Palmed back at me. I was speechless for a good 5 seconds, before the only words I could muster were cussing at my opponent (luckily my opponent was cool, though this did get me a warning from the judge). Game three a turn 3 Blood Moon screwed me over. At the time I had 2 shocks so yeah...wasn't much I could do.
Round 3: ??? 2-0
This was...bizarre. The first thing I noticed when I sat down for this match is that my opponent smelled like he had smoked some drug very recently. He also seemed a little out of it, so he may have been slightly high? Anyways, this was easy. Game 1, he got stuck on one land. I had no idea what he was running, but his land was a B/W shock so I boarded for B/W Tokens. Game 2, I had a god hand, and got him down to 2 on turn 3. He imprinted a Raise the Alarm on an Isocern Scepter, so it appeared to be some B/W token build? It appeared very sub-optimal though.
Round 4: B/W Tokens 2-0
This WAS actual B/W tokens. That being said, bogles has a stupidly good matchup against even optimized B/W token builds. There's not much to say besides that I won without much trouble. After the game, he commented that he wasn't expecting to win, as bogles and R/G Tron are his two worst matchups.
Round 5: Affinity 0-2
I am led to believe this matchup should be about 50-50, but it definitely doesn't feel this way. Game 1, he equipped a Cranial Plating to his Vault Skirge early to gain a bunch of life, before eventually killing me. Game 2, I boarded in all my affinity hate, but I didn't mull into it, and didn't draw any, leading to another early loss.
Round 6: Merfolk 2-1
This was against one of my friends. I have played against his deck many times, so I know that the difference between winning is often whether you stick a Daybreak Coronet or not. I don't really remember too much about this besides that I won the first round pretty easily (think I stuck a Coronet), lost the second because all his creatures had Islandwalk and he had made one of my lands a mountain, and I won the third round barely. I wasn't expecting to win, as Merfolk is not a great matchup.
Round 7: N/A
My opponent didn't show up. Free win, I guess.
I'm kicking myself for not winning that zoo round, as then I could have likely gone X-2 which is usually good enough to go Top 16. Oh well. Had fun, wets my appetite for more events like that.
Foodchaingoblins: Is there a reason you don't run Razorverge Thicket? It's nuts in this deck, having pretty much now drawbacks, besides not being fetch-able. I guess that's probably why though.

Wow, nice list. Do you mind if I copy it? And could you list down your sideboard call against the prevailing tier 1 and 2 decks? Thanks
By the way, I counted your MB, it is only 58. I'm guessing the missing cards are 2x Razorverge Thicket?
Yes, the other 2 cards are 2 Razorverge Thicket. Razorverge Thicket is truly an amazing card, but it doesn't fetch or sacrifice to Liliana of the Veil. So it prevents me from playing more than 2. I am usually very happy to have 1 in my hand early in the game though. In the midgame, surprisingly the come into play tapped because I have 3 lands in play already hurts sometimes.
You can copy it if you like. Here is what I do against some of the top decks.
Twin - In - 3 Nature's Claim, 2 Gaddock Teeg, an 3 Suppression Field, Out - 3 Spirit Mantle, 1 Spirit Link, 2 Kor Spiritdancer, 1 Unflinching Courage, and 1 Spider Umbra.
Junk Midrange - In - 2 Rest in Peace, 4 Leyline of Sanctity, Out - 1 Unflinching Courage, 1 Spirit Link, 1 Spider Umbra, 1 Hyena Umbra, and 2 Spirit Mantle.
Burn - In - 4 Leyline of Sanctity, 2 Nature's Claim, Out - 2-3 Spirit Mantle, 1 Kor Spiritdancer, 1 Spider Umbra, 0-1 Unflinching Courage, and a fetchland or something else. I feel like Unflinching Courage is not good enough on the draw and Nature's Claim is good against potential hate or to use on your own Rancor to survive a turn.
Infect - Now I've played against it twice with nothing or it in the SB. I side in 2 Gaddock Teeg for Become Immense and take out 2 Spirit Mantle.
Affinity - In - 3 Nature's Claim, 1 Krosan Grip, Out - 3 Spirit Mantle, 1 Unflinching Courage or a fetchland.
This is probably pretty close to what I sideboard on the fly vs. decks. I side in Rest in Peace for the occasional graveyard deck (like Dredge, Storm, or Reanimator, not Snapcaster Mage decks). Occasionally I put 1 in vs. SCM decks. I put in Gaddock Teeg against Cryptic Command, Empty the Warrens, Through the Breach, Scapeshift, and even against Spectral Procession. I have played against Mono Green Devotion and put in 3 Nature's Claim against Utopia Sprawl and other random SB cards, and Suppression Field just against Arbor Elf. I know; it's pretty sad just like the matchup. I have put in Suppression Field against Zoo on the play, but not on the draw. I just think about what the cards in the other deck are and try to slow them down in time for us to win.

Thanks for the insight. So you don't put in Suppression Field for Affinity, I found it very useful against it but it MB for me. Hard to think what else to remove MB for SB Suppression Field against Affinity
I have sided it in the past and it is in fact decent, especially against a low mana deck when they draw their Spellskite. I think some amount can be put in and I don't actually know what's better. I've drawn 1 before and smashed, but I've also drawn all 3 and it's been poor. It's infinitely better on the play, but this matchup to me is all about speed and usually determined by the dice roll. It is the most dice roll dependent matchup in all of Magic as far as I know. Basically, I hope to play a Kor Spiritdancer and put Spider Umbra and Daybreak Coronet on it, playing somewhat carefully around Galvanic Blast. Or else, my Bogle and Auras is usually a step slower than their pressure. Lifelink goes back and forth with Vault Skirge and Cranial Plating vs. your creature + Daybreak Coronet, but if you happen to "double lifelink" (Coronet and Spirit Link), then only Poison can really kill you.
It's also hard for me to side Suppression Field against Affinity because I used to have 2 Stony Silence instead. Obviously it doesn't compare. When I put the 4 Leyline of Sanctity in the SB, I had to make cuts and 2 Stony Silence, 1 Rest in Peace, and 1 flex slot got cut.

I play against infect all the time and overall it's a very bad matchup for us. I've found that Spirit Mantle is actually one of the better weapons we have for stabilizing since it prevents all damage and we can chump block all day. It's not that great if they have unblockable but I find it way more useful than the lifelink cards. If you come across playing it again I would side out Spirit Link and U.C. instead of two Spirit Mantles. Just my two cents. Spellskite is also like an automatic win against it, similar to mirror matches.
Nature's Claim is worth bringing in against Infect. It kills Inkmoth Nexus and you can expect them to have ~3 Spellskites after sideboard. It's still a below average matchup but it helps a bit. They're simply faster and our Hexproof/lifegain mechanics are almost completely useless. Blighted Agent is a huge problem, so we need to try to avoid using Path to Exile on Inkmoth/Spellskite/Glistener if possible.
Yes, sorry guys. You are right. I tried to put together those SB options from what I can remember in about a 1 minute post. It was probably not the best option.
I do side out Spirit Link, Unflinching Courage, and some Umbras. I do side in 3 Nature's Claim and my lone Krosan Grip. They have a total of 4 Spellskite in their 75. How do I know? I put the deck together for a friend who played at the IQ.
(I guess the way that I "remembered" siding made me look pretty badly.) I think I should just try to answer 1 question at a time rather than giving an extensive SB list vs. many decks. Also I realized in the past few months that I've been making mistakes siding out too many Spirit Mantle instead of some Umbras. Umbras are weaker against decks where we probably won't use Totem Armor or don' need the quicker speed or could possibly have Chalice of the Void. I have been trying to correct this.

I don't know honestly. Someone asked me how good an Aura would have to be to make the cut. Umbras probably won't be reprinted again, so those are out. I can't imagine any Aura being as good as Rancor, Ethereal Armor, or Daybreak Coronet. So that doesn't leave much.
Out of the 3, I would say that #3 seems pretty cool to me.

I think having another 1cc creature to make our creature count around 14-16 wouldn't be bad. It makes our opening hand easier. And yes, I like the 3rd option too. Hopefully they print something for us in the next standard expansion or atleast a new art of Kor Spiritdancer. Haha
So what do you think we need to make us a more consistent deck?
Another 1cc hexproof creature?
Another 2cc lifelink with +x/+x
A 2cc draw aura with +x/+x
Thoughts?
I think it has to be some kind of removal/disruption for the faster decks like twin/infect/affinity. That's why many of the 'flex spots' are cards like Path and Spellskite, just helps Bogles last one or two more turns.
I would argue for a 1 CMC aura with no buff, but a 1 colorless mana + sacrifice aura activated ability to counter target spell unless controller pays 2.
So I have a quick question - what is the benefit of Unflinching Courage over Gift of Orzhova? I understand its an additional +1/+1 buff, but I feel like as long as it has lifelink, the +1 won't matter that much. I think what WILL matter though is the flying vs trample, especially for inkmoth nexus and other affinity weapons (signal pest, vault skirge, etc). Flying is also a better evasion option (wurmcoil, gofy, etc.)

Well, that would probably benefit other decks too, in a way. I'm asking for cards that sticks with the game plan of the Bogle more.

I tried playing Gift of Orzhova, wasn't able to cast it since I didn't need it but I reverted back to Unflinching Courage because of a great match I watched that was won by the Bogles player due to the extra +1/+1 and Trample of Unflinching Courage. I would suggest try playing it both, see what you like more. Not really helped that much with my comment but meh.

Ok, thanks for the input.
Round 1 vs.

3 Suppression Field
I just want to point out that a game in the round vs. BUG was punted by the opponent. Now I don't know who would have won game 3, but it would have eliminated me from top 8 contention if I lost game 3.
Also the first Twin player did an obvious punt by not doing Pestermite/Vendilion Clique on 5 mana instead just Vendilion Clique (to take my Suppression Field, which had been EoT Cryptic Commanded).Sorry, that was wrong. I forgot that I had another Aura to put on that would not leave him at 1 life, but I didn't play it because I saved mana for Path to Exile.*I was thinking about what got me started on Hexproof type decks.

Norin the Wary, Grimgrin, Adun Oakenshield (taking forever to build)(dead format for me)Round 1: GR Tron 0-2

Wow, nice list. Do you mind if I copy it? And could you list down your sideboard call against the prevailing tier 1 and 2 decks? Thanks
By the way, I counted your MB, it is only 58. I'm guessing the missing cards are 2x Razorverge Thicket?
