Saw this deck take first place, a more proactive approach instead of waiting for Leyline and Suppression Field, he's on a more classical aggressive build of Bogles.

Looks really similar to my list, at least mainboard-wise. I don't know how comfortable I feel without the Leylines in the sideboard, but I could see taking out the Suppression Fields. These days, they're barely coming in for anything.

I haven't been using my Bogles lately for tournaments but when I play test, i'm not liking Suppression Field too. Slows me down I think especially since they are MB for me. Comments on Suppression Field, anyone?

I only have one suppression field in my side. What is everyone's thoughts on a single marrow shards in sideboard? seems like it could be ok vs infect or affinity..?
I don't like it that much. Against infect it might not work if they use Might of Old Krosa during their main phase. And against affinity it doesn't work against Ornithopter and other things with toughness 2.
I personally like Suppression Field, it works pretty well against a good number of major threats: it prevets a turn 2/3 Liliana, stops Twin's infinite combo, can save us from Spellskites, slows down Inkmoth Nexus, messes with opponent fetchlands and other manlands like Celestial Colonnade
I guess it is more of a meta call, but since it work against the current dominant decks, I believe it is worth having them.
The list seems pretty good. The SB seems slanted more toward RDW. I would say that his deck is similar to mine, but he has more hate for Affinity and RDW, whereas I am concentrated on Twin and Junk Midrange.
I am curious as to what he sides against Junk Midrange. I side 4 Leyline of Sanctity (I can't argue with it and have been drawing it lately :woot!: and 2 Rest in Peace). I guess he would put in 2 Relic of Progenitus, which works better in conjunction with Rancor, but doesn't really appeal as much as an Abrupt Decay target and Path to Exile.
Also, I side in 3 Suppression Field vs. Twin. Granted, I have not drawn then much recently, but when I can stick one, it takes a lot of pressure off. Knowing that my opponent has to Cryptic Command the Field, play or have a Deceiver Exarch on the Field, and then Twin the next turn, dodging Path to Exile and Nature's Claim, puts me a bit at ease. I guess this player relied on just Path and Nature's Claim, which is fine. Those cards are infinitely better against Remand than Suppression Field is though.
I can't argue with results though, especially since he won States and I was 4-2. I have to admit that Suppression Field is not too useful other than Twin, unless you face the occasional Zoo or Ad Nauseum deck. I have often considered taking them out too and have played 3 instead of 4 for the past 2 months, but I am so scared of Twin. But maybe the approach is not overdoing it. If we don't draw Path or Nature's Claim, then we can live with our loss.

I've been saved by Suppression Field lots of times, but there are also times when I wished it was an Aura that did something damage wise (other than increasing Ethereal Armor's damage). I've always felt it made me lose tempo.

I've always run 2 Dryad Arbor and never found it to be a problem. (It was a problem for the first time this past weekend during States when I drew both of them in 3 consecutive games, of which two were mulls to 5 and 6. So it hurt me for the first time in playing the deck for at least 6 months. But it happened in a match in which I won and another match against Twin where he drew well enough that not much would have beaten him anyway.) Gaddock Teeg is another one that is pretty weak, but it slows decks down. In theory if you can stick it against Twin with an Umbra, you're looking pretty good, but I have yet to do that for at least the past 6 matches.
I was even thinking about doing a test of Gitaxian Probe this Friday. I would take out 2 lands, probably a Temple Garden and a fetch, Unflinching Courage, and Spirit Link. I think the chances, at least for me, of facing RDW, is nearly 0%. Same goes for Delver, so the lifelink cards and the life loss from Probe hardly matter. It's probably a dumb idea, but we'll see.
The only cards that I'm really sure of in the SB are...
4 Leyline of Sanctity
3 Nature's Claim
1 Krosan Grip (or another Nature's Claim)
The other 5 cards are really up for grabs.

I side out Kor Spiritdancer. I always try to have the same creature count because I am so paranoid of not drawing creatures or not drawing Auras, etc. If I put in 2 Gaddock Teeg, I take out 2 Kor Spiritdancer. I still have 2 in the deck and sometimes Kor Spiritdancer is not really at its best.

I see. Thanks.
Saw this deck place second, I like the idea of having 15 creatures in the deck. Although, I'll change 2x Unflinching Courage to 1x Spirit Link and 1x Spider Umbra to keep the curve low. SB wise, I'll just switch Spellskite with Gaddock Teeg. Opinions?
I think Spellskite is totally worth it. Some even use it in the Main Deck.
He's good against Abrupt Decay and other potentially annoying removals. He's good against Twin, Infect, mirror vs Bogles and even against other spellskite (which is funny cause it basically becomes a life auction)
I played this at my 29 player FNM. It was 5 rounds.
Round 1 vs. Abzan Liege. This guy has a really good list with no mana dorks, but more disruption. It actually does as well in the matchups that it already does and beats Twin with 3 Path to Exile, good pressure, and 4 Abrupt Decay. I overrun him with Ethereal Armors on a Bogle and then I show him Spirit Mantle. He gets me in the next game with 2 Engineered Explosives and a slow hand for each of us. In the final game, he keeps a 1 land hand with Engineered Explosives. He gets my creature, but I had the nuts with Bogle with Umbra, Unflinching Courage, and Daybreak Coronet, so the Umbra only falls off on EE for 1. He has another Engineered Explosives, but his 3rd land (on turn 4) came into play tapped. Stirring Wildwood. Now it turns out that I would have still won because I had a backup Bogle and had 2 Ethereal Armor for my next 2 draws, but who would have known? 2-1.
Round 2 vs. Grixis Delver. He beats me in the first game with Gurmag Angler on turn 3 after turn 1 Delver is racing my Bogle. No lifelink means game. In the next game, he draws 3 Gitaxian Probe and he can't overcome the race because I get a 2 turn clock. In the final game, I just overcome a flipped Delver and Gurmag Angler and get a big Bogle, chump block with Kor Spiritdancer in case, and survive at 2 life. This should be an easy matchup, but I drew exactly 0 lifelink cards. But luckily for me, I drew Spirit Mantles and Rancors. 2-1.
Round 3 vs. Storm. Honestly this matchup seems terrible. In the first game, he got out 2 Pyromancer Ascension with 1 counter on each, but honestly didn't have much else. I overran him with a big Kor Spiritdancer that had a quick clock. I side in Gaddock Teeg for Empty the Warrens and Past in Flames. I side in 3 Nature's Claim for Pyromancer Ascension. I side in 2 Rest in Peace for Past in Flames. I mull to a weak Dryad Arbor hand, but topdeck Gaddock Teeg. I stuff 2 Umbras on Teeg and ride him and Dryad Arbor to a pretty quick clock. He had an Electromancer, which I Path to Exiled on my turn. I was scared about something odd like Negate into Ritual, Ritual, Ritual on his turn, so I didn't try to make the land come into play tapped. He doesn't have much and scoops. He may have been able to do something. I don't know. He was borrowing the deck, but he did pretty good because he was at least 2-0 for a while. 2-0.
Round 4 vs. Infect. I honestly don't have anything for them and this was the first time that I ever played against Infect with Bogles. In the first game, he gets me with Inkmoth Nexus and double Vines of Vastwood, the 2nd of which he played in case I wouldn't die to 1. He put some Infect on me and Path to Exile would have won it, but he survived a turn short of lethal. I think it was turn 4 on the play for him. In the next game, he blocks my Bogle with his Glistener Elf and did Mutagenic Growth. This was odd, but after I Path to Exile the Elf, he drops Blighted Agent. He gets there with the Blighted Agents. Pendelhaven into Noble Hierarch in both games put me in a slight disadvantage. I was 2 life short of killing him in the last game and he asked me if he used Spellskite's ability to "steal" Daybreak Coronet, what would happen? I told him that he could pay the 2 life, but he wouldn't end up getting the Coronet on his Skite. He would have asked the Judge anyway and it was not Competitive REL, so I didn't mind telling him. I just wish he made the mistake because he was at 2 life when he swung for lethal. I even sided in Gaddock Teeg; why you ask? For Become Immense, which someone told me he JUST lost to in the previous round. I don't have anything for this matchup specifically and I don't mind with the percentage of it being so low. 0-2.
Round 5 vs. Burn. It's been a long time since I played vs. Burn. My opening hand only had Kor Spiritdancer, so 1 Searing Blaze beats me. I keep a 1 land hand and keep putting Spider Umbra on Bogle to block multiple Goblin Guides. He does lethal when I suit up Daybreak Coronet at 4 life with Eidolon of the Great Revel out. I knew he had something, but I didn't really have a choice. Game 2, I do turn 0 Leyline of Sanctity. He did a Deflecting Palm on my 5/5 Bogle to keep me from gaining life, but the next turn, I swung again and he scooped. In the final game, I suit up a Bogle quickly and he does Destructive Revelry on my Ethereal Armor. I draw a bunch of Rancor and some Umbras and suit up while he just does Lightning Bolts. He draws Monastery Swiftspear and Goblin Guide late, but he knocks me to 4 life when I am about to take combat damage. Before damage, I do Nature's Claim on my own Rancor after chumping the Swiftspear with Kor Spiritdancer. I am at 1 life after he does Skullcrack, but I show him the Daybreak Coronet. He scoops, but something odd happened. It turned out that I would knock him to 1 life with me at 11 life. His next card was Deflecting Palm and he would have won with that and burn for lethal. Crazy game. 2-1.
I finish 4-1 at 3rd place since the top 2 split at 4-0-1.

Thanks for the results. Infect is always a rough matchup. Electromancer is definitely dangerous, but you can always path it on his upkeep phase to prevent the land usage.
Yeah I actually tanked for a little bit on whether I should Path it now or Path it on his upkeep. The thing that scared me is that this player is not a regular Storm pilot and the deck belongs to a guy known for playing odd cards, so I thought that the odd Negate into Desperate Ritual etc. later on in his turn, would end up potentially killing me. I considered myself to be safe from those shenanigans because of a double Umbra'd Gaddock Teeg, but I figured, "why take the chance?"

Just a quick summary, I tried copying the deck that took first place. All I can say was, he probably had a lot lucky hands/draws that night. Especially against burn players. Will be going back to my old deck. lol
Quick questions:
Do you wait for turn 3 before casting Gaddock Teeg and attaching him an umbra against Twin?
Do you mulligan until you have a Daybreak or Unflinching Courage in your hand (pre-SB)for Burn opponents?
Against a deck with Lightning Bolt, I most certainly wait until turn 3 to Umbra Gaddock Teeg. I don't put it against Burn or else there, I wouldn't wait since 3 damage to him would be 3 damage less to me (but this shouldn't apply since I would never side it here). Against a deck with Path to Exile, I run it out turn 2 usually. Sorry, I just realized that you said "against Twin." It really depends. We have to watch out for Lightning Bolt. They occasionally side out Lightning Bolt, especially if they lost to a huge Bogle. Some players know that their best plan against us is just to Combo and that means taking out Bolt. Others know the importance of Bolt in those occasions, like a Gaddock Teeg being cast. The other thing to worry about is Spell Snare. Many Twin players don't know how good this card is against us. It should never be sided out because it hits Daybreak Coronet, Suppression Field after side, and Gaddock Teeg after side. All in all, I cast Gaddock Teeg just hoping that it will be a speed bump that gets me there. I only go all in when it seems appropriate or we have no other choice.
I don't do that against Burn. I just try to keep a hand that can beat them. Sometimes it means Bogle and Spirit Mantle. Those can hold the fort since they cast an average of 2 creatures per game - it is a Burn deck, but with 12 creatures just like us (not counting Dryad Arbor). Sometimes it means just having Bogle and Auras. I usually mull very infrequently, so it usually takes not enough mana or too much. On Friday in game 1, I mulled a hand that had just Kor Spiritdancer, Auras, and 2 lands on the draw. I figured that 1 Searing Blaze means I lose. I still ended up losing, but only because a late Eidolon of the Great Revel and Skullcrack finished me off. I haven't really had too many poor starters against Burn (probably because I've rarely played against it) other than obvious mulligans. I do realize however, that Bogle and Aura + Spirit Link is probably nearly game over on turn 2 of the play. I played Bogle into Rancor/Spirit Link on the play at a PPTQ and it basically was game over at that point (just by having a single Umbra in hand).

I just feel naked without Leyline on our SB.
Looks really similar to my list, at least mainboard-wise. I don't know how comfortable I feel without the Leylines in the sideboard, but I could see taking out the Suppression Fields. These days, they're barely coming in for anything.

I only have one suppression field in my side. What is everyone's thoughts on a single marrow shards in sideboard? seems like it could be ok vs infect or affinity..?
I personally like Suppression Field, it works pretty well against a good number of major threats: it prevets a turn 2/3 Liliana, stops Twin's infinite combo, can save us from Spellskites, slows down Inkmoth Nexus, messes with opponent fetchlands and other manlands like Celestial Colonnade

I've always felt it made me lose tempo.
I'll try his list and give back results, I just need to get that second Dryad Arbor and Gaddock Teeg. Although i'll be changing one of the Nature's Claim into Krosan Grip

Norin the Wary, Grimgrin, Adun Oakenshield (taking forever to build)(dead format for me)I see.
Opinions?

He's good against Abrupt Decay and other potentially annoying removals. He's good against Twin, Infect, mirror vs Bogles and even against other spellskite (which is funny cause it basically becomes a life auction)

Norin the Wary, Grimgrin, Adun Oakenshield (taking forever to build)(dead format for me)Thanks for the results. Infect is always a rough matchup. Electromancer is definitely dangerous, but you can always path it on his upkeep phase to prevent the land usage.

Norin the Wary, Grimgrin, Adun Oakenshield (taking forever to build)(dead format for me)Quick questions:
Do you wait for turn 3 before casting Gaddock Teeg and attaching him an umbra against Twin?
Do you mulligan until you have a Daybreak or Unflinching Courage in your hand (pre-SB)for Burn opponents?
