Jayemdae Tome is just awful, really...
If ur thinking about using that, i'd rather use the new card from SOI Tamiyo's Journal.
Haha I know it's terrible, but throwing it out there starts a discussion. The journal doesn't seem terrible. It's slower than eye, but it gets the inevitable back.

So i am currently also about to build a backup plan.
I will take out 1 Wurmcoil, 1 Warping Wail, 1 Relic in exchange for: 1 Sanctum, 2 Conduit of Ruin, 1 Thought-Knot Seer.
That should provide some earlier threats, more even distribution of "bombs" while still having the tutorability with Sanctum/Conduits.
Also: How do you guys feel about World Breaker? It's a small Karn on a stick that doesn't deal with creatures but comes in as 7 drop with G as the only restriction. I feel this may be well able to find a spot in future lists as a 1-of.
can be answered by path and dismember, not a good choice me thinks.
99% of the creatures in the format can be answered w/ path or dismember
While I'm typically not on board with the dies to doomblade response, in this case I'll go with it. The point of trying out Sea Gate Wreckage/Kozilek/Tamiyo's Journal is to attack on a different axis. I'm looking for something to help Tron keep digging for a game ender if we lack Eye to simply tutor up Emrakul/Ulamog. Sea Gate Wreckage is nice because it can be found with all of the tron staples, plus its a land so not as many decks will be prepared to attack you on that angle. Kozilek is nice, because while he can be pathed or countered his ability triggers on casting so you're guaranteed the card draw, and if he sticks, he will probably end the game. The journal is actually something I over looked, and while it may be slow, it will give you inevitability. Even if you don't make it to 3 clues to search for whatever you want, you'll at least get a couple cards out of it.

his ability triggers on casting
true, but so does Conduit of Ruin's. I just like the fact that (even though it's not repeatable like Eye of Ugin) you get the ability upon casting, and you also get a 5/5 body on the field, which, yes, dies to Path to Exile and Dismember, but if they don't have a specific answer for him at the time, he's still a 5/5 beater that they have to deal w/ and that's nothing to shake a stick at. also, if they want to deal w/ conduit AND the other threat you conjure up, they'll have to have 2 removal spells ready. if they don't have the answer they need at the time, you may find yourself casting a turn 4 Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre.

Been lurking awhile, but first post here. I am happy to say I took 3rd last night even though there was only 11 people, it has been my best finish yet in modern.
Running pretty much the standard list with two newlamog and a bane of gala GED instead of a fourth O-stone.
4 rounds.
Round 1 vs UW Control
Gm1 - Natural tron game one with two ancient stirrings.....pretty much game over.
Gm2 - he mulls to 5 and stuck on two lands for quite awhile, still able to hold me off until I draw newlamog. By this time he has four lands, I still don't have tron, but enough lands and an eye to cast newlamog, he tries to counter and I remind him of the cast trigger. Rage scoop
Round 2 vs mardu junk?
I was able to pull this one off in three. The game I lost he got Bob early and m. Swiftspear with a few lightning bolts ended me pretty quick.
Round 3 vs Storm
Lost in two. First time playing against storm, I hate that deck. I had no real answers in my SB for it as I watched him play with his deck until he double blasted be for 15 to the face.
Round 4 vs mirror
I actually liked his build. However, he wasn't running Karn and I was! I got the round in two games. Game 1 I beat him by getting Karn out and keeping him off tron.
Game 2 he had me down to 3 life with a spells kite out and two wormcoil tokens out and a new wormcoil. I play thragtusk and go up to 8 life and GQ one of his tron lands and I am also able to cast nature's claim. I target his WC and he forgets to use his spellskite! He was pretty much done after that......he was also sitting on 30+ life at this point. He pretty much does nothing next turn. I cast and activate O-stone, then bane of gala GED. Next, he has nothing as he has no cards in hand. I attack, he pitches two groves. He top decks a sphere and draws nothing. I attach with bane again and two tron lands gone...and then the handshake!
5th round for the top four.
I lose in two to burn. Darn eidolon.... I hate that card too!
You experienced two of Tron's weaknesses in combo and burn. There isn't much you can do about Storm except hope you don't play it. Nature's Claim and Relic of Progenitus are about the only tools we have to fight their Pyromancer's Ascension and Past in Flames. Burn is just too fast for us most of the time. You could try playing GW tron which will give you access to Timely Reinforcements. Also consider boarding in nature's claim against burn. It can be used to shoot one of your own mana rocks to gain 4 life.
this is what I'll be running for FNM tonight. hopefully I get to play all 4 rounds, got a bye last week. hate byes. (also, still trying to figure out this posting a deck thing, so sorry it doesn't look great)

World Breaker is a awesome card as 1 off, since you can sac lands and get it back, and also trigger Sanctum.
burn is a horrible matchup agreed. been years since I've played against storm, just nobody runs it at my lgs.
and wtf. guy's running tron w/o Karn...didn't know you could even do that. or why you would want to....
Possibly money, but it's also worth remembering that Karn is at his most powerful against midrange decks, control decks, and the mirror. He's subpar against aggro decks (too many threats for him to take care of), tempo decks (he's expensive and inefficient removal that just runs into Remand), and most combo decks (they can usually ignore him).
You'll notice that the format currently has very few of the decks in the first category and a whole lot of decks in the latter category (well, not so much tempo, but aggro and combo are around). The format is currently overrun by decks that don't care much about Karn while having not that many of the decks that are hurt by Karn. I wouldn't play zero, but I can understand dropping some as this is probably the weakest Karn's ever been in the format.
I went 6-1-1 today with GW Tron and got bye 2 on GPT Los Angeles.
GW Tron is very well positioned in this meta, beat 2 UW Eldrazi on the way, one 2/0 and the other 2/1, i have never played GW Tron before, only RG, and i liked ALOT, the SB is WAY better. Ghostly Prison gave me 4 games, this card is ALL Tron needs .

I don't understand how people can take out Ugin from any Tron decklist - he's very OP and very good on the board wipes. I actually prob prefer him over Karn any day.
Regarding Ugin: When you are fighting a field of ~50% Eldrazi exiling colored permanents is not really appealing...
I guess I've been pretty lucky then ..because of all the tourneys I've played (i play 3-4 tourneys a week), since Eldrazi got big, I've only played against it once =P

yeah Eldrazi is not big in my area either. I think I've seen maybe 2 people playing it this year.
