Couple of questions
1. I currently run 4 - 2 in main and 2 in side.
I've seen some people run 2 sweltering suns main board and 2 angers in the side etc.
Is this for the cycling against match ups where anger would be a 100% dead card?
How relevant is the cycling in a dead match up vs the G1 exile against match ups where exiling the opponents dudes matter?
Not to mention that post board you would likely only have 2 exile board wipes over 4 exile board wipes am I right?
2. I currently run the Prismatic Omen list, I cut Chandra's because she felt weak in the few times I cast her. Can anyone tell me a situation where she is really good in the deck? I feel I'd prefer more ramp (2 more explores or +1 explore and +1 farseek) or a couple of relics or engineered explosives just seem better or am I missing something?
Cheers

Yes, the Cycling on Sweltering Suns is for matchups where Anger would be dead. Sweltering Suns in often good enough vs. creature decks. It is just a minor speed bump against Dredge though. As for me, I have yet to play against Dredge since the GP where I faced it once (Platinum Pro Ben Weitz on Day 2). So, Sweltering Suns is nearly just as good as Anger of the Gods, but you have the ability to cycle and it is much easier with a ramp deck. Anger is in the SB when you need to side it in. Anyway, Sweltering Suns + Relic of Progenitus can get those Dredge players anyway. If you expect to face Dredge a lot, I'd do Anger instead.
Chandra, Torch of Defiance is good against Control, when you run out of land plays when you're on 4 mana on turn 3 (can RR ramp into Prime Time), and when you need another win-con (often against Control) because Prime Time and Valakut are not enough. If it resolves vs. Control, it can help you play your Prime Time around Mana Leak by using the RR mode. I have cut them completely, despite being high on her for a while, and have not missed them at all. I don't think you play her in the Prismatic Omen lists anyway.
@Titanshift players - I had a hand in the top 4 in game 1 with 6 cards where I had Summoner's Pact, but only 1 ramp spell in Search for Tomorrow. On turn 2, I did Summoner's Pact for Sakura Tribe-Elder so I could double ramp and hope/pray to draw Prime Time/Scapeshift/Hour of Promise/last Pact. It failed, I didn't find anything, and he did a turn 4 Prime Time on the play to eventually kill me. My question is this. Would you use your Pact on turn 2 to try to ramp harder against the mirror when you're on the draw with 6 cards and hope to draw something? Or would you save it for playing a turn later for a guaranteed Titan? I took the more risky, but high reward route and was not rewarded, although the other route didn't beat him either.

I probably would have as well. The mirror is a pure race. You have enough win-cons in the deck that I'd cross my fingers and hope to find another. Holding it doesn't do much if you die before it's relevant.

Agreed. Being on 6 on the draw is already a very tough spot to win from. You probably need to kill him on your turn 4, which requires:
4 lands from hand
3 ramp spells
1 Scapeshift
That's 8 cards. If you mull to 5, you would have exactly 9 cards on turn 4, so they would have to be almost the exact perfect cards to win. Very unlikely, so you really can't mull to 5.
These were my thoughts as well. Out of 3 players who ran Titanshift, all 3 made the top 8. The last player made it in the 7th seed at 3-2 after being paired up in the last round. The player who I played was the #1 seed, so I have to assume he's going to draw pretty well. It is purely a race, even regardless of these external factors.
I have a few turns to find Scapeshift, Prime Time, or my last Summoner's Pact. If I keep the Summoner's Pact, I need to draw a ramp spell on turn 3. It is possible, but I felt less likely. It's just that I had never done a turn 2 Pact at tournaments before and only once during testing. I also considered that he tries to rules lawyer me about casting the Search before the Pact trigger resolves. I trust your sentiments, but I want to hear how others would have done it as well. It sucks losing the 1st and 3 games on the draw because my hand is not as good as his, but having an amazing hand in game 2 when he mulliganed to 5 that do nothing. It always sucks losing.

The danger of turn 2 pact is you will have exactly 4 lands on your next upkeep. If you suspect your opponent is running Mwonvuli Acid-Moss it's another risk to consider. My meta is extremely Tron leaning at the top tables lately (making Modern PPTQs an awful experience this season IMO), so I've been running 2 in the main and 2 in the side. It also helps win the mirror match by setting them back a land and ramping us out one.
It was game 1, so I knew he didn't have that. Also, regular Tron is nearly nonexistent in our area. I even don't see E Tron enough (I'd LOVE to see it more when I'm playing this deck).

Yeah Eldrazi Tron seems like an incredibly easy matchup for us, although I've only played it once. Must be nice to be in your meta though. All the Tron forces folks to either play non-interactive combo/aggro decks or play Tron. It's been pretty miserable. I've been off and on different midrange decks and just hoping to dodge the big mana decks but it's gotten polarized to the point where it's impossible. 6/8 decks this last weekend ran tron lands. Only 1 Eldrazi-Tron.
Hey guys, I'm an MTGO grinder, been on Eldrazi Tron for the past 6 months or so. This deck is doing really well lately and I'm considering picking it up. I'm quite sick of losing to it at this point I have a history of playing it from the Standard days, but not yet in Modern.
Can anyone give me a quick rundown of the good and bad matchups for the deck? Would appreciate it, thanks.
I linked an article a few days ago that has a nice brief rundown for you. The Primer post at the very beginning of this thread has a nice write up on most of the meta.
In very broad strokes though, we beat midrange and control, are evenish with the fast matchups like burnand some Aggro decks, tend to beat the creature swarm deck especially post board, have a tough time with grixis shadow and storm, and lost hard to infect when it was a thing.
Round 1 vs. Mono Green Infect. I was lucky enough to get the only "new" player. He hadn't played for a while. When I see a turn 1 Glistener Elf, I'm like, Oh No! He does Rancor and Giant Growth next turn to put me at 6 poison. I have nothing, so I cast a Sakura Tribe-Elder. I block and it trades with the Glistener Elf next turn. I ramp and he doesn't play anything else. Prismatic Omen and Hour of Promise kill him. In the next game, I Bolt a creature right away, but he plays another. I do Anger of the Gods. He does another. I Beast Within. He pumps it to put me to 10 life. I kill it the next turn with a Valakut trigger and then finish him the following turn. 2-0.
Round 2 vs. Abzan Traverse. He strips my hand and lands Goyf. He eventually gets another so he has double lethal. I hope and pray to draw Relic of Progenitus. I don't and die. In the next game, he strips some of my hand and it comes down to me with just Scapeshift. I need to draw a ramp spell to win. I draw Prismatic Omen. I forgot that was an out too. In the last game, double Relic of Progenitus just absolutely plague him and buy me so much time. I got my hand stripped only twice and I had gas, so eventually I get have Search for Tomorrow into Scapeshift to win when I top deck the Search for Tomorrow. I misplayed horribly and cast the Obstinate Baloth instead, leaving the Search in my hand as well. He draws and does IoK to remove the Search from my hand, but I top deck a land to Scapeshift for lethal. 2-1.
Round 3 vs. 4 Color Humans. I keep an awkward 6 and miss my 2nd land drop with a Search suspended. I do a Sweltering Suns on time because he had mana issues, having to cast multiple dorks. The 4/4 Anafenza gets there, but I Hour of Promise to kill it. He top decks Mayor of Avabruck for exact lethal. In the next game, I keep a hand with no Green mana, but Lightning Bolt and no other spells that can be taken by Sin Collector. I Bolt the Noble Hierarch after drawing another Bolt. I eventually get there with a Prismatic Omen and Scapeshift. In the final game, it is super close, but I draw Kitchen Finks into Obstinate Baloth into Anger of the Gods to barely survive and kill him with Scapeshift. 2-1.
Round 4 vs. Eldrazi Aggro. We ID 0-0-3, but play for fun. I Bolt a Mimic right away, but double Smasher puts me to 10. I Valakut trigger to kill 1 and he swings to put me to 5. I Scapeshift for the win. In the next game, it is a race again like this, but I need to get a ramp spell with only Scapeshift in hand. I get there with Scapeshift + Prismatic Omen for 54 damage (showing off) after drawing the Prismatic Omen. I just realized that Prismatic Omen was the MVP this tournament (for once)! I win 2-0.
I finish 3-0-1, but could have been 4-0 possibly.
***Sidenote - The Sunday PPTQ where I played was super hot. It was an indoor swap meet and they didn't even have fans for a little bit. I made a comment to my Burn opponent (who was my loss in the Swiss) when I played him again in the top 8 that it is really hot in here. I hope I don't get "Burned" this match. He laughed a little, but not after I told him that I was going to start using Snow-Covered basics. I have done so now and I feel much more confident vs. Burn.

Hey everyone, nookularboy has a lot of stuff coming up in his life. Because of that, he asked me to take control of the Primer for around a year. In the next few days I want to make an initial edit to clean up some formatting and fix the grammar if I find any mistakes. After that I want to expand on the videos and articles section. If any of you know of any good videos, the deck being featured on coverage, someone giving an intro and playing the deck, or a streamer jamming a match or two, please either post the links here or send me a link to them in a private message. The same goes for articles, if any of you know of any articles or particularly good tournament reports posted as a blog or on Reddit or if you want me to highlight a post here on the thread that was a good tournament report let me know please. I want this Primer to be the best it can be and make it a nice collaborative effort.
I'll try to help as I can, but I don't have the most time of all people.
It's actually tough to find information on the deck. I have a friend who has communicated with Thien Nyugen in the past and skyped/played against him. I talked with him very briefly at GP Vegas too, but not enough to get a huge grasp on the deck. He did tell me a line that I didn't consider in the game he watched me play (which I feel was the #1 game decided by play skill in my tournament). So, he definitely knows how to play this deck.

I agree and it seems like its because Scapeshift doesn't outright beat Shadow. Decks like Tron and Storm get videos regularly because they have good match-ups against DS. Or maybe its because there are a lot of RUG Shift videos out there?
I think some of the reason is that the deck is relatively new in regards to decks like affinity and jund and burn that have a lot of info out there, didn't come onto the scene and immediately become one of the top decks in the format like Shadow and ETron, and also isn't a long time fan favorite that's finally doing well like Storm. The decks that have been doing well for a very extended period of time have a lot of info out there just because of how long they have been top tier decks. And the decks that come in hot and shake everything up are exciting and get a lot of attention in the form of articles and videos. And finally, storm will always get a ton of love and hate. Our deck had an interesting few finishes that put it on the map, got a few misplay riddled videos from LSV and another pro or two, and then settled in as a relatively unexciting tier two deck for a long time. And content creators aren't going to want to write about random tier two decks when they get more clicks from tier one decks that have been around forever or the spicy new flavor of the week.
There are some videos out there, and some articles. But not a ton.

Norin the Wary, Grimgrin, Adun Oakenshield (taking forever to build)(dead format for me)I agree and it seems like its because Scapeshift doesn't outright beat Shadow. Decks like Tron and Storm get videos regularly because they have good match-ups against DS. Or maybe its because there are a lot of RUG Shift videos out there?
There are some videos out there, and some articles. But not a ton.
