The modification was the output of 2x Hangarback, to enter 2x Blight Herder. I believe he thought of the Grixis Death Shadow. And there are several advantages of Blight Herder in place of Hangar.
1. It can not be generally countered (Cavern of Souls for eldrazi)
2. 3x Blockers in cast
3. Generates 3x wastes
4. Come early with the Eldrazi Temple
5. Blight Herder does not die for fatal Push, it is not artifact (kolaghan), and is a block for Tasigur
The exile of the skill is no problem, we have relic and they exile much with the Delve. I have been testing and I am quite surprised with the result! The only points that I see advantage in Hangarback is that the tokens have flying, and in the late game, you with 1218372813 lands, he is a monster. But in practice the hangarback is either canceled or dies easy for fatal push, kolaghan's ..
How do you guys feel about Dismember lately? I'm liking it less, or at least it feels bad in the online meta now.
I'm testing Spatial Contortion instead and actually runnning 4 main for my test. I like that I can always use it. If my health is low or it's a fast aggro matchup, it's a actually a great draw. And if the opponent is playing a creatureless deck, it can be used for +3 damage to speed up to clock. And you can still use it to trade with bigger creatures.
It looks like everyone is still running Dismember, guess I'm in the minority.
mog was amazing, I cast him in probably 25% of my games almost
you'll notice I'm on 0 seagate 1 sanctum, Seagate is pretty bad lately, it's too slow and punishes you for having a lot of top end or a lot reactive cards, I love dismember and aids and do not want to just fire them off so I can "loot" with Seagate. I lost to 2 eldrazi decks that had stony silence, a jund with 4 fulminator, and then went 4-1 vs death shadow decks on the weekend.
my matchups are below:
day 1:
gds 2-0
5 color shadow 2-1
uw control 2-0
gds 2-0
geist control 2-0
bant drazi 1-2
gds 2-1
living end 2-0
day 2:
affinity 2-0
classic jund w 4 fulminator 0-2 (the jund in the t8)
dredge 2-1
geist control 2-0 (harlan)
drazi taxes 1-2
5 color shadow 1-2
I really believe that Ulamog needs to be run somewhere in the 75 and leaving him out is a mistake. The cost is high but the return nearly always wins you the game.

Wail was amazing game 1 and 2, Ballista + collar ---> X=4 Ballista to trigger sanctum and get Ulamog won game 2.
Affinity 1-2
Get rolled Game 1 by a 9/1 skirge, I assemble T4 tron for 8 mana but only have 2 reshapers and a map in hand to play so I die. Game 2 is won by Chalice on zero on T1, Wail, t4 tron for smasher, and T6 Ulamog. Game 3 he lands 1 threat, a 1/2 Pest. He gets plating on it on T3 and beats me down over 2 turns.
GB Tron 2-0
GQ, Wail on scrying, Chalice on 1 on T2 followed up by Endbringer and smasher beats off 2 temples won game 1. Game 2 I counter a T3 scrying that would assemble tron, had natty tron to TKS away his o-stone, topdecked T4 Karn to win.
UR Storm 2-1
Game 1 I T2 dismember his electromancer, T3 Tron TKS his Baral away. T4 TKS away ritual, win. Game 2 he storms off with warrens T4 for 16 tokens and wins, didn't see ratchet. I could have surgical'd his pyretic ritual to start the turn but was waiting for Past in Flames or Gifts. Game 3 He T2 electromancer, I natty tron and play chalice on 2 and also had a T1 relic. T4 I play ballista on 4 and kill electromancer, T5 Play ballista on 4 again and beat down, leaving relic mana open. Record: 4-1

Abzan 1-2
Game 1 I crushed them with All is Dust on T6. Game 2 I was fine after a Lili ult until I drew zero lands in 4 turns when I needed 1. Drew 1 land total in 8 draws and died on turn 8 with 3 lands in play, 1 mana short of all is dust.
Thopter + KCI 2-1
Game 1 I smashed face, game 2 he comboed with KCI + thopter foundry T4, Game 3 I had 2x Surg to stop the combo and won.
Ad Nauseam 0-2
Game 1 T2 Tks T3 smasher, exiled AD Naus, still lost. Game 2 I drew badly after keeping strong start of chalice on 0 and 3 by turn 3. I missed lethal by 1 point and he recalled my chalices and won.
Burn 2-1
Game 1 he topdecked one of few outs on last possible turn. Game 2 I T2 reshaper, T3 TKS, T4 TKS for win. Game 3 was won because I saved my only chalice for X=2 on T4 (I was on the play). Record: 3-2
League 4
U Tron 1-2
Game 1 they got very lucky to win. Game 2 I winn off TKS and smasher pressure with a cavern on construct in hand to make ballista resolve for last 2 dmg in pings. Game 3 they assembled tron through GQ and slaver locked while I drew nontron lands.
Storm 2-0
Game 1 won on a Wail on Baral on T2, and chalice on X=2 T4. Game 2 I had chalice on 2, relic, and Cage early and crushed.
Vengevine 1-2
Game 1 won off chalice on 1 and double reshaper ramp into T6 hardcast Karn. Game 2 I stumble on mana and he gets an early Hallowed One. Punted game 3 by using my wastes on chalice unecessarily when moon was on battlefield, I couldn't use a wail token to block and then win on crackback.
Abzan. 2-1
Game 1 they won off better draws and more gas. I won game 2 with more gas, and plusing Karn. I win game 3 off of a ***** load of mana with tron, smasher and ballista.
Non Druid CoCo 2-1
Game 1 I beat them down with TKS and smasher, they drew dorks and lands. Game 2 he flooded board with creatures. Game 3 I won due to collar attached to ballista and his magus of the moon taking himself off of white. Record: 3-2
League 5
UW Control 1-2
Game 1 he drew zero lands and zero white sources, easy win. Game 2 I mull to 5 and stumble just short of Ulamog mana. Game 3 they get a big Rev off for X=5, fell 1 mana short of Ulamog for second game in a row, many live draws to turn him on both games, just unlucky.
Random Brew 2-0
Game 1: T# TKS + reshaper, T4 Karn + reshaper trigger into map + use map into cavern, T5 Cast Ulamog with cavern = gg. Game 2: T2 reashper, T3 Tks, they flooding, they forfeit.
Amulet TItan 1-2
Game 1 I got maan screwed when I had 2 smashers in hand, they went off with a blue enchantment making me copy and cast summoners pact and lose. Game 2 was crazy long and opponent said they punted. Game 3 I was 1 mana short of taking over the game with TKS, bringer, and ballista with collar attached.
Bant Spirits 2-1
Game 1 I had 16 mana and 2 ballistas, nuff said. Game 2 I had 4+ draws where had I drawn any land I could resolve All is Dust, but I alos forgot about my chalice on 1 on the battlefield when deciding what to exile with TKS. Game 3 I pinged 10 spirits with endbringer to win.
UR Storm 2-0
Game 1 I had natty tron and on the play, and I cast chalice on 2 on turn 3 and they conceded. Game 2 I kept a hand with relic and they kept a hand with blood moon, their own blood moon cut them off of blue so free win Kappa, Record: 3-2

Eldrazi n Taxes 0-2
Game 1 they cast 2 TKS, displacer, and had path fo my TKS. Game 2 they had T2 TKS to my T3 TKS, also had T3 displacer and by T4 had the mana to blink twice a turn. Did not see dismembers.
UR Storm 2-1
Chalice on X = 2 wins both games. T3 tron was involved at least once.
GW Trash Brew 1-2
Missed 4 land drops game 3. Mulled to 6, kept a 2 lander, scry nonland to bottom, first 5 draws were nonland.
Grixis Shadow 2-0
Game 1 I sandbagged a smasher until I could swing in for exactsies. Game 2 I had T4 tron (only 3 mana tho) and 2 chalices on 1, the first them using K-com to kill and bring back a shadow to their hand. Record; 2-3
League 7
Mono W Humans 2-1
Game 1 they went too wide and I didn't ramp at all. Game 2 I had 10 mana T4 and 12 mana T5, casting big hangarbacks to stabilize and an all is dust on T5 to win. Natural tron + collar on ballista and bringer won game 3.
UR Storm 2-0
Game 1 was won on natural tron and chalice on x=2 on T3 on the play. Game 2 They stumbled and I played chal on 2 on T4.
Druid CoCo 2-0
Game 1 I won due to T2 TKS, and early yron + ballistas to keep his combo never close to assembled. Game 2 I extracted vizier on T3 and won on mana and board presence.
BW E & T 2-0
Game 1 I cast T2 chalice on 1, T3 smasher, T4 smasher, dismembered his displacer. Game 2 went really long and tron and sea gate were the MVP's.
Esper Breach Brew1-2
Game 1 they T5 breach, Game 2 I cast TKS and exiled emrakul from hand, beat down plan won. Game 3 they T5 breach after remanding my TKS twice. I couldn't map for cavern to force it to resolve because I had to map for wastes due to blood moon. Record: 4-1
Overall record of 22-13, but what I think is even more important is that I cashed in 6 of the 7 leagues. Once again I will point out that these were friendlies and not competitive leagues. The only matchup I was unsatisfied with the results was abzan (1-2), but both of those losses were due to mana screw. I went 5-0 against storm, that has to be attributed to 2 maindeck wails as well as me ALWAYS holding my chalice for x=2. I used to drop it on 1 if I was worried I wouldn't make it another turn, but it's better to make them have it and if we live long enough to drop it on 2 we win 90% of the time.
Personally I feel like ulamog is great right now, but I can also imagine a local meta that is too fast/aggreaive to allow for it. I really really like that aside from inevitibilty ulamog also gives free wins when we get 10 eldrazi mana incredibly fast.
My worry about the deck's success is more based around other players gaining a familiarity with the matchup, being more prepared more for us in SB.
Without a return to E-Winter, I'm not too fearful of the ban hammer. But, fast mana is always on the public's "chopping block."
Basing my statement on the deck's recent results on seeing it consistently top 8. The day two conversion rates. And the grumbling I hear locally. 8D
Sup guys, I haven't been playing much over the past month or so. Just getting back into it a bit. Seeing some spicy lists out there - Musser's from this past weekend in particular caught my eye. You don't need to ask me twice to try Blight Herder. Loved that card in Mono B Eldrazi in BFZ modern. 3 Wastes is interesting as well. Definitely gave my opponent an edge last night when I GQ'd his Temple when he had 2 Wastes in play, thinking it would be a Strip Mine, and he grabs the 3rd. Still not sold on MD Wurmcoil but I'll give it a shot.
Like your list as well Thursdayisgod. You seem very prepared for the mirror post-board, and I always like to have access to 3 All is Dust.
Blight Herder is definitely interesting, I used to play with the card in the early iterations of BW Eldrazi Processors just before oath came out (bringing TKS and smasher).
I do feel that hangarback and herder compete for SB spots, since they are used in quite similar ways. Some matchups hangar is strictly better, such as against infect, zoo, smallpox, affinity, sun & moon, etc. Because it is either a much earlier drop, costs less, or produces flyers which our deck can tend to have a rough time dealing with. Also in control matchups having thopters stick around after a board wipe is extemely relevant. Herder is strictly better in matchups that are midrange and where we are also bringing in relics from the side (note: casting a herder without the 2 cards in exile to process is probably the worst thing you can do in modern for 5 mana), such as grixis shadow and control, jund, and the mirror due to the better board presence it provides.
Here's what I've come up with:
Matchups where hangar is better: burn, UW control, zoo, D & T, living end, sun & moon, infect, dredge, spirits, smallpox, affinity, bogles, faeries, ponza
Matchups where herder is better: blue moon, jund shadow, grixis shadow and control, Bant eldrazi, BW eldrazi, jund, skred, the mirror
Matchups where it's a wash: grixis driver, abzan
Personally, I feel like hangarback gets the edge because it is consistently played earlier in the game to help against aggro by blocking for multiple turns, it gives us a way to potentially create flyers, and it is very resilient to board wipes a la UW control. Sun & moon, and living end. There are some matchups where herder is simply amazing (grixis shadow), but overall I do feel like the card is a midrange card and that is a stage of the game where this deck already dominates. Hangarback is much more flexible.
Thanks for the thoughts. I do think that Hangarback is probably better overall, but I'm gonna keep testing Herder for a bit here for the funzies and see how it goes. I had it against Abzan this evening and it was hilariously good. I do like the fact that it's Path-proof, as opposed to Walker (and every other creature in our deck :p).
Another thing I like a lot about Musser's list is the 25 land in the 75. Gives you a lot more room for optimization in your matchups.
So I've played against Colorless Eldrazi Tron with Burn and Abzan Coco, and I've witnessed my friends play against E Tron with UW Control, Affinity, and Elves. It seems no matter which deck is played, no one can beat Eldrazi Tron (barring bad luck from the E Tron player). My LGS is filled to the brim with this stupid deck.
Can anyone tell me how to beat E Tron? It's getting quite ridiculous at this point, and judging from some matchup postings in the last 2 pages, it seems like the deck has a 60% favourable matchup against every deck in the format. Not to mention it's the most played deck in terms of meta-share according to MTGGoldfish.

Beating Affinity is darn near impossible with Eldrazi Tron, it's at least 70/30 if not better. Elves also have a pretty great ET matchup, probably 70/30. Counters/Abzan Company is favored probably 60/40. So no idea what you are talking about there. UW Control is probably close to 50/50, especially now with the Gideons. I just lost to U/W, they might be a little favored now with the rule change. We generally can beat Burn, but it's maybe 60/40. Taxes decks are a bad matchup. TitanShift is a bad matchup.

People don't post about the tournaments where they went 0-5, 1-4, 2-3 or even 3-2. That's not the nature of showing off on an internet forum. In my last two MTGO tournaments I'm 2-3 and 3-2, and I'm sitting at 1-2 after 3 games in my current one having just lost to TitanShift and U/W Control.
If you know your local meta is loaded with ET, it should be easy for you to pick a deck to go in there and get a good win rate.

Thoughts?
Elves and Affinity are both really bad matchups for Eldrazi Tron. Either your sample size isn't large enough or there's a big discrepancy in player skill in the matches you've seen. Burn is great for E-Tron. Company decks vary based on how all-in on the combo they are. If it's a 4 Druid/4 Vizier version, it's unfavorable. UW Control is favorable for E-Tron about 60/40 in my experience, but it's not an easy one to pilot. Win rates in this matchup will vary with play skill more than others.
Titan Shift, Hatebears, and Humans are a few other bad matchups in addition to the aforementioned. So if you really wanna beat E-Tron, take your pick.
This question may be a bit off from traditional E-Tron questions, but I'll ask anyway.
I really wish Sire of Stagnation was full on colorless to cast. Yes I know if you'd like to fool around with a different 6 drop Oblivion Sower or Wurmcoil Engine would be the avenue to approach.
Are there any low-impact mana-filtering artifacts/colorless creatures out there that could facilitate the UB casting cost or is it as it seems that you would have to rework the mana base to such an extent that it would basically change the deck. The thought of punishing an opponent using fetches and shocks by giving you card draw seems so appealing and the 5/7 body could block most anything relevant out there.
Yes I know this is an off the wall question. I've probably already answered my own question but I thought I'd throw it out there. Thoughts?

So I've now played 12 leagues with the Blight Herders and I'm pretty underwhelmed TBH. It's great against decks that are delving, but that's mainly just Grixis Shadow at the moment, where Hangarback is quite good as well. Banking on drawing both Herder and Relic in the same game in other matchups to turn it on isn't reliable enough. Back in the hangar for me.
I think it is perfectly balanced and answers many threats pre sideboard
The 2/2 split with walking ballista and hangarback i think is very very effective and i suggest others at least try it.
I dont run4 chalice simply bc i dont like drawing more than i need. It is literally a dead draw and not to mention tends to shut off my own spells like map and mind stone.
I like mind stone bc of the mid-late game draw which i think the deck really really needs at least 50% of the time.
2 wurmcoil bc he is simply a monster in my opinion and he should be played more.
2 basilisk collar bc I really despise having my only collar destroyed and i love gaining life with this deck. It makes it just seem unfair to play.

If we're willing to give up our Affinity match entirely, we could trade out Quarters for the new tribal land from Ixalan. That and Cavern should let you cast World Breakers, Drowners, heck even emerge a Deep-Fiend hehehe. Might be x-mas land... might be the next evolution between BANT and Colorless...
This is a Mono Green Eldrazi Tron Deck that i just created, what do you guys think about it? It can work better than the regular version? Any feedback is appriciated
There was some discussion of this a while back, maybe 2 months ago. I didn't test it in real games, but I did fishbowl it quite a bit. My feeling was that either regular Tron or Eldrazi Tron are better. With so many blue decks in the meta, not having access to Cavern of Souls hurts; there is simply no room for utility lands with a splash. But I still have some interest in this idea. Let us know if you test it.
Here is the list I came up with. I'd think you would definitely want 4x Ancient Stirrings, since that card is the reason to do it. Also, you might as well use a green/black land like Llanowar Wastes or similar to help pay for Dismember and Surgical Extraction. I felt like tossing in a World Breaker is kind of a no brainer with G splash.
Check it out guys! Just finished foiling the deck yesterday, grinded local paper tournaments all summer and this is where the store credit went. Here it is.
I think Bant Eldrazi is the best thing you can do with stirrings + the eldrazi creature package, if you want stirrings and tron then GB tron is pretty solid right now, I think underrated and if I wasn't on Eldrazi Tron I would be on that. If there ever was a temple ban (which I do not think will happen at all), I would imagine tron players would migrate back to GB tron and it would be high tier 2 at worst, possibly low Tier 1.
This question may be a bit off from traditional E-Tron questions, but I'll ask anyway.

I totaly agree with you, if cheated in play early Sire of Stagnation can basically win on it's own, the problem is that if you want to play him you need to pack up cards like Talisman of Dominance or Dimir signet, expecially the latter can help you a lot without changing the manabase too much. Anyway my real question is can he improve our worst matchup? I'm gonna attend to a pptq in a few days and i'm trying to find a way to improve the deck, but every card that comes into my mind lead me to adding a color, which isn't very exciting. Can he be the missing piece that I'm looking for?
Thanks for the reply. I'm just daydreaming mostly. I'm not even sure what I would drop to fit in a package of 2 SoS and at least 6 more sources of UB mana as well in the form of lands/talismans. I should probably just fool around with Oblivion Sower to scratch my oddball extra Eldrazi itch. If you do run Sire of Stagnation let us know what you did and your results.

Without a return to E-Winter, I'm not too fearful of the ban hammer. But, fast mana is always on the public's "chopping block."
Basing my statement on the deck's recent results on seeing it consistently top 8. The day two conversion rates. And the grumbling I hear locally. 8D
Like your list as well Thursdayisgod. You seem very prepared for the mirror post-board, and I always like to have access to 3 All is Dust.

Another thing I like a lot about Musser's list is the 25 land in the 75. Gives you a lot more room for optimization in your matchups.
Thoughts?
RWG Burn
GW Abzan Company
Thoughts?

4x Eldrazi Temple
2x Forest
4x Llanowar Wastes
4x Urza's Mine
4x Urza's Power Plant
4x Urza's Tower
2x Wastes
Artifact (6)
4x Expedition Map
2x Oblivion Stone
Instant (2)
2x Dismember
2x Endbringer
4x Matter Reshaper
4x Reality Smasher
4x Thought-Knot Seer
4x Walking Ballista
1x World Breaker
Sorcery (6)
2x All Is Dust
4x Ancient Stirrings
Planeswalker (3)
2x Karn Liberated
1x Ugin, the Spirit Dragon
4x Chalice of the Void
1x Dismember
1x Hangarback Walker
2x Relic of Progenitus
2x Spatial Contortion
2x Surgical Extraction
2x Warping Wail
1x Wurmcoil Engine
I like this list and think it would be fun to play in a control-light meta, maybe a FNM. But not MTGO, at least not now.
Also, I think you probably have to move Chalice to the side ... with this list, I'd just swap it for Ancient Stirrings if I needed it.
