By the time that I would have 10 permanents on the battlefield, it will be easier to just cast Time Warp rather than try to protect a 1/1 for a turn with timestream Navigator.
Admiral’s Orders are interesting, but only really in the tempo build because the upside is only relevant if you’ve attacked, otherwise why not play Disallow or another cancel with upside. It’s also worth noting that outside of control there’s not really a lot of decks that want to be casting spells on your turn, so I’m a little sceptical here.
Indused Amnesia seems to be too much work for too little gain. Currently the only way we have to get it off the field is with Cryptic, and otherwise it’s just card disadvantage. It’s a lot of mana and a lot of cards to invest in something that’s not a guaranteed payout, especially since we need to draw a way to remove it after it enters the battlefield. It doesn’t seem worth the deckslot.
Blood Sun shuts off Colonnade and other utility lands while not preventing Tron from generating a ton of mana. It’s maybe an option vs Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle, but there are better options if you want to improve your game vs Valakut.
Dire Fleet Daredevil is bad. It relies on your opponent playing spells that you are happy to cast on your turn. Not having access to your own spells alone is enough to make it unplayable on its own, and making it not have flash is even worse.
Marauder is fine. It helps Geist of Saint Traft get through, which is relevant, but again not having flash is annoying. It’s also hard to protect, as unlike Snapcaster its a card that actually has to stay around to get value from it. Some builds do play Rattlechains, so I guess it’s a question of whether or not Marauder is a better option than rattlechains.
All in all, 2 maybes, one card that is better against us than for us, and a few cards that just seem bad.
Anyone still playing Jeskai tempo geist?
How are you doing with it and how do you adjust the deck overall to beat trons and eldrazi tron?
I played a fair bit of Tempo, and the truth is that you don't adjust it to beat Eldrazi Tron. That matchup is horrendous. Gx Tron is a better one, but not by a ton. It's favored for them, and you can get in a game and sometimes even a math by racing them with a ageist. The key is to do as much damage to them as possible.
I've said it before that I think jeskai geist is still probably the best deck to take to a large open tournament, as it has the most free wins. Time is also a factor both for your mental exhaustion and draws being almost as bad as losses.
With ten tier 1 decks and twice as many relevant tier 2 decks right now it is impossible to put answers for all matchups in your 75. If you want to make your deck as good as possible for an open field, try the elephant deckbuilding technique out, I personally really like it. Build a list that you feel confident with fighting 8 out out 10 tier 1 decks that at the same time covers the majority of tier 2 decks, and accept some matchups will be in the opponent's favour. With the tempo build you will still steal some games by winning the die roll and steamrolling with a turn 3 geist. With a long-range control list you might cover 9 out of 10 tier 1 lists but the tenth one will be virtually unwinnable, and you have to deal with potential draws and less break time

How are you doing with it and how do you adjust the deck overall to beat trons and eldrazi tron?
I only play locally currently. There are more regular tron variants than eldrazi tron so my TNM's have been doing just fine. I posted a few threads back I went 4-0 at my last one. The deck for me feels great and I love playing it. Even if it was worse than the Ben N Jeskai Control list i would still play it lol
The original tron variants I actually think we are fine on. Geist can race it well, just practice, know when to tap out and when to start clockin with threats. In this matchup I'm not afraid to throw out a snapcaster on the end of turn 2, especially if you have a counterspell and a path to exile. If they waste a karn activation to get rid of it, even better. Colonnade also comes in handy since Oblivion Stone and ugin doesn't hit it.
I am testing Jeskai Tempo and Jeskai Control right now and can't decide what is better in an open meta. I am more experienced with Tempo.
Went 4-1 yesterday in a local event losing match 1 to Jeskai control. While the player was not very experienced with the archetype and did a ton of mistakes, he still won based on a flipped SFA.
I like playing control but I have the feeling that Jeskai Control is just really bad against Burn, Titanshift, Storm and Tron.
How would you overall compare the matchups of the two decks against the field?
I've always preferred the Queller version because it gives you better tools to win your bad matchups. Nickolich must have some insane luck to just never play against Dredge, Tron or Valakut (though Halos help with the latter). I would much rather walk into an Open or GP with Queller than Control.
I am currently running the list below and had had a rather uneventful FNM (beat Affinity, lost to Titanshift, etc), but had an amazing Jeskai Control match. Game 1, I was on the burn-out plan. I knew he was on Azcanta Jeskai and if his only wincons are things like Secure the Wastes and Collonade beats, I'm going to win the burn damage race. He thought I was on Jeskai Control (which is why he sent burn to my face) until right near the end of the first game when I finally Queller his Secure for X=3, at which point his face dropped (I also learned that Queller on Secure is AMAZING). Anyway, I punted game 2 HARD. By turn 6 or so, he was able to resolve a Keranos with only 1 land left up. On my following turn I attempted to Spreading Seas his Colonnade, which gets hit by a Spell Snare. I have Cryptic in hand (hoping to counter the Snare and bounce the Keranos), but look down and I only had 5 lands in play... I hadn't made my land drop for turn. I was able to resolve my own Keranos at the next turn, but that tempo swing just dealt me too much damage over the next 2 turns to have him finish me off. Game 3 was really tight and close in the first several turns, but then I flooded hard. I ended the game with 14 lands in play and two fetches stranded in my hand with no more targets left. I just ran out of resources and never drew a Geist. Either way, it was a really great game where I felt (for the most part) the games were won and lost on my gameplay decisions and not the matchup. Flooding game 3 sucked, but I had opportunities I could have capitalized on if I was more patient (only had about 11 min left for game 3).
I would not recommend Queller-ing a Secure the Wastes that's been cast for 6. Sound like fun games though; that's the type of play that keeps drawing me back to Jeskai.

Typo! Should have been X=3 (4cmc) and edited the post. If I remember, I think he had 5 lands in play, but left one up (for Snare, Dispel, or something that didn't deal with Queller). In game 2, in order to try and get ANY pressure early, he also Secured for X=1 on turn 3 (stuck on lands) and I Quellered that too.
heh cfusion, even our sideboards are close. I like disdainful stroke!
I went back and forth between that, 2 Ceremonious Rejection, and 1 Rejection 4 Seas. I like the 2 Strokes the best since it hits a lot of things in a lot of matchups (even things like Cryptics, Rev, and Secure in Jeskai "mirrors") and Rejection was too narrow and too little of a percent change in bad matchups (tron/eldrazi) that it's just not worth the slots. Plus Stroke basically does the same thing against their big threats.
So does azor, the lawbringer have a place in this deck? I was thinking about running a single elspeth as some top end for the deck but it seems this would be pretty good too as a one of. What do you guys think?

I do not believe Azor, the Lawbringer has a place outside of EDH.
Ajani locking down cavern of souls Vs. E tron was a sweet move TheAller! I can't let go of the helix man in my Control List just because he always has these type of interactions come up! I do play 1x Nahiri as well.

..feel the same about the helix man and i was wondering why not play him main in the bybrid-build (like the one posted by TheAller) since he never felt dead in any matchup. at his worst he`s throwing a helix at the opponent.. so in that case he would take the place of the 4th Lightning Helix.
Regarding the 1-of Nahiri, i don`t like her if we do not play a Gearhulk in the list, so that she is more than just a looter (and the occasional Disenchant).
I think Nahiri is undervalued as a value planeswalker. They don't know game 1 whether we're on Jeskai Nahiri or Control, so she is a massive red herring that draws fire. If you play Azcanta, Loothouse and Nahiri the access to the singletons in your list is unparralleled. And to be honest, on most board states where you have got Nahiri to 8 or 10 loyalty, an ulti for a snap is usually enough to propel you towards victory, even if it doesn't win the game on the spot.
Ajani I will always love!

Just adding that I would concede that to put Nahiri in a list without any ulti target except snap is a suspect thing ... Torrential Gearhulk is such a bomb, worth a spot without Nahiri more than Nahiri is without Gearhulk perhaps!

Moving towards a hybrid list, do maindeck Cliques have any place over Geist? Gives you some of that game back against Combo without making your Midrange and Control MU worse

I was hoping someone can shed some light on the Eldrazi Taxes match-up for Geist Temp.
I feel that I am losing the match-up because of me as it should not be so tough.
One of the biggest dilemmas I am having is sidebaording.
