Could this silly discussion about "doesn't ALWAYS work" maybe stop? MtG is a game of chance, nothing ALWAYS works.
Yea it really puzzles me how illogical people can be. Saying Rejection is bad 'cause it doesn't turn a 40-60 pre-board MU into a 100-0 post board MU is incredibly nonsensical. Rejection is by far the best answer we can play to E Tron. This is why the card sees play in the sideboard of every single blue based deck in the format right now, and people even play it in legacy. There's nothing better you can do against Eldrazi. Stony Silence doesn't come even close. Sure, you can just go down the "hope to dodge them" route, but IMHO you can't afford it right now.
This argument reminds me of people who said "Dark Confidant is bad 'cause it dies to everything". You don't hear that very much anymore. But it's that same logic. I mean..."unlogic".
Did you actually read the printed words? I never said it was bad. In fact, there are very few who actually said it was bad. My point is that some of you are clutching Ceremonious Rejection like there's so little chance to beat them without it. I personally know via testing that even with it, your odds don't swing that greatly, but it's really the only way to beat a turn 2 Chalice of the Void for X = 1. That's the very reason any Jeskai pilots play it. Yeah, it's also good against the rest of the deck, but so are a lot of other cards. Moreover, our chance to beat them seems to rely more on the Eldrazi Tron players draws more than anything. If they get the right draw, good luck. If they don't, you're still having to play around certain topdecks. djphan was trying to make a particular point that, if it's so good and versatile, why aren't we slamming 4 into our sideboards? I'm not saying I wouldn't play the card at all. I obviously do and have pointed out that it's good, but some of you just seem intellectually boring in this department. Instead of trying to prod more discussion for different methods, you'd rather just put others down because apparently we don't get it. Really?
Critical thinking ya'll. It's not a diss. Sometimes, it's just about exploring options. Jesus, even Reddit isn't this bad.
This... basically sums up what I was also trying to say much more eloquently.
I like Opt quite a bit. The deck already works at instant speed so much, in early turns I like being able to hold up mana as much as possible. It allows me to maximize mana efficiency in deciding how to use burn/removal/draw in the first few turns.
So someone mentioned cast out... I like that card and might actually try something like below this coming friday.
On a non-related note: has anyone ever used mtgo tickets new mtgo trading manatraders? I might try it out to play test this deck on mtgo (opt now legal).

I have an idea I want to test, if someone also wants to test it, it'd be great.
The idea is playing with 2-4 copies of worldly counsel in jeskai geist. I've played with impulse and it feels so great to look at the top 4 and pick the one you need, it feels so much better than looking at the top 3! So we would probably have to go down on colonnades (which aren't that great right now), and would have to add a 4th color, only for domain purposes.
I saw Nassif stream Harlan's list, plus some iterations of it, but I never saw him slide in Opt (around the beginning of last week, for those wanting to look through his logs). Do you know when he tried Opt?

a friend of mine just shared to me the link should be on channel fireball. He was on 24 lands playing sulfur over spirebliff. The split was 3 opt and 2 serums with 1 less helix. He also replaced 1 geist for 1 gideon of the trials but did not impress him so much. Maybe the third geist is just better.
He mentioned it in the video essentially saying "Geist is good in your bad matchups and ok in your good matchups" which is my feeling exactly. I've seen some lists playing Gideon in the sideboard, which seems fine, but I don't think it's worth cutting a Geist from the main.
Ended up 2-3 Lost vs 8 Rack and Titan Breach, and Grixis Suicide (had mana issues all games). Beat Storm only and dropped.
The titan and grixis losses were infuriating. Had mana issues both losses. Grixis went 1-2.
It's a little early to tell, but I have a revised opinion about Opt.
In a vacuum, it is better then Serum Visions. Against any deck where you want to hold up counter magic or removal turns 2/3 opt is a breath of fresh air and makes the deck work like a charm.
The big problem with Opt is it does not provide enough card advantage against decks that play 8+ cantrips.
The difference between opt and serum visions is small enough not to matter in the mirror or against non-blue decks, but if you face a deck like grixis or storm that has ample cantrips, Opt really starts to struggle to keep up.
If you don't expect to play against Grixis or Storm, I would say opt is probably better. But with the current meta I don't think you can risk that.
1. Why remand? The card seems generally bad right now unless you're remanding a Delve threat versus Shadow decks. The deck doesn't just win on the spot with a combo, such that trying to play a straight tempo strategy is probably going to be a losing angle.
2. What are the benefits of running Resto and Clique md over Geist? What matchups do you expect Geist to be better in, and which do you expect Resto-Clique?
3. I like the fun-of Cast Out tech, particularly in light of the new planeswalker rule.

1) Remand works better with the tempo strategy. I want to go remand into queller into queller or restoration or snapcaster remand idealistically.
2) See above. Clique + restoration angel also is good where geist is good. But... that may not be enough. I'm going to give my list one more go (trying x4 remands and only one cryptic) instead to see if that makes a difference.
1. Forget councel. I think the way is to go 4x Opt and 4x Visions in a 3x Geist deck. Geist is the best wincon in Jeskai as long as liliana of the veil is not prevalent in the metagame. 4 Geists is too much and 3 with visions and opt is the best configuration IMO.
2. Replaced the quellers with 3x remands. Queller is only good against decks that don't pack removal. I like remands cos of Delve creatures and flashback ligering souls, on top of being good against big mana decks and counter wars, but also because it cycles into drawing the Geists.
3. The new tectonic edge is the best of the 3 wastelands IMO, I run 2.
4. Went to 23 lands with those 8 cantrips, but still testing how it goes.
5. Will play competitive (paying tickets) as soon as they ban something from storm cos the deck too absurd right now for me to throw my money at them.
Also, I've been thinking of playing 1x shinka, the bloodsoaked keep, since it lets you attack with geist through spirit tokens, but also lets you kill and survive with geist any 5 toughness creature if you have a bolt in hand. The downside is that it requires 3 red mana on the board. What do you think?

Deck List?
Also if you want utility land for geist, Eiganjo Castle is arguably better I would say.
With castle you can't kill the 5 toughness creature with a bolt and still have geist survive.
But anyways, I don't think it's viable to play either cos of manabase restrictions.

For those on MTGO it is as of yesterday. Not that anyone is likely to have a clear conclusion already.
I really like this list, I might give something similar a try!
