This Dredge deck, should I be worried? Seems the matchup is them goldfishing their combo, and if they don't hit it well enough we just kill them. Is the match worth graveyard hate? I can only see a couple other decks where graveyard hate in the side is worth it.
I've typically been bringing in Path and Lightning Helix, anything I should be aware of?
Should we be worried about the enemy fast lands?
I think it will not make a big impact because fetching for your mana will always be better then hoping for the right dual but I would like to hear more opinions about the matter.

This is a big change for Modern, but it's not as big as KTK fetches were.
Go read the original comment and you'll notice that I mentioned another set of colors that is neither Mardu nor Naya. That third set of colors has access to Blackcleave but doesn't play white.
I did read it. You said Jund "AND MARDU." Meaning you're implying that argument applies to Mardu. When it doesn't. Period. Maybe YOU should actually read what was written instead of attacking me personally.

It DOES apply to Mardu. Naya doesn't necessarily play Copperline, and typically only does so with Nacatl. Mardu happily plays Blackcleave. Today, Mardu plays more fast lands than Naya. Period. Mardu's manabase today is less painful than Naya's. Period. In the future, there will no longer be asymmetric access to fast lands because the cycle will be complete. Got it yet?

Except that that's objectively false. They can (and often do) have the same land split. Plenty of Nayas play copperline. Just because a particular list you looked at didn't, doesn't make that the norm. If a naya deck doesn't play Copperline it's because it wants the consistence of fetches/shocks. It's not a question of access, and having another fast land won't suddenly change that. So do you 'got it yet'?
(also, first you say Mardu matters, then you said you were only talking about Jund, now you're back to Mardu mattering. Pick a side and stick with it)

While I agree that is a dead card in those matchups, so of them decks are so uncommon you're unluckily to be playing against realistically.
from MTGTOP8.com, meta shares are 3% ad naus, 2% scape*****,1% bogles, no idea what through the breach is listed under, 0% blue moon, 4% Nahiri, 4% tron for a total of 14%. I'm probably missing a fair few decks that it's terrible against though.
Compared with decks it's good against (correct me if I'm wrong on any of these)
5% Dredge, 8% Zoo, 8% Affinity, 6% Merfolk, 3% hatebears for a total of 30% of the meta
Looking at that, there's definitly a higher chance of getting matched against a deck it's good against (assuming the event represents those meta shares more or less). although it's definitely still worth considering dropping to 3 main 1 side.
My local meta lacks a lot of the decks that it sucks again, so I will continue to run full 4 personally, as it's never dead, but other local metas could easily require less
I don't fully agree on the percentages, but anyway, that's not the right angle to look at the whole thing IMHO.
You rather have to ask yourself: do I want to run 4 maindeck copies of a card that's totally dead vs 15% of the meta and bad vs probably another 15%, and that also you typically don't want to draw in more than 1 copy, in any case not more than 2 copies ('cause of landfall and the fact of it being slow), when there are other valid options (namely: Skullcrack), that also have their huge merits (stop lifegain)?
I personally run 3 Searing Blaze and the 4th in the board. I don't think it's correct to run 4 main unless you're looking at very heavy creature aggro (which is likely the case for the previous poster). In an unknown meta, you're right that something that's never dead should probably be in the main instead (like Skullcrack).
Hey all, I top 4ed the Modern Classic at SCG Richmond with Naya Burn. I typed up a tournament report, and hope some people may find it useful!
In terms of my deck, I play a mostly standard Naya list. However, I play 4 maindeck Helix, 4 maindeck Searing Blaze, and no Wild Nacatls.
Round 1 – Grixis Delver
Game 1 he has a turn 2 Angler on the play and I can’t race. Game 2 he manages his blue mana poorly, putting down his counter shield and allowing me to overload him. Game three went longer than I would have liked, but I topdeck an uncounterable Volcanic Fallout with him at 1. Overall, I feel like this is not a great matchup for me, but he didn’t draw much cheap interaction. 1-0
Round 2 – Abzan
Game 1 I have Searing Blaze for an early Scooze and he doesn’t have much to back it up, allowing me to quickly overload him. Game 2 he mulls to 5 and has mana issues, so it was mostly a non-game. Abzan can be a really bad matchup depending on their sideboard, but he didn’t have Leylines and I went under his lifegain. 2-0
Round 3 – Infect
Game 1 I foolishly tap out to maximize damage, and he quickly untaps with Might + Become Immense. Post sideboard I have a ton of hate, and am able to leverage my ability to play at instant speed over him, taking games 2 and 3. This is a pretty good matchup, and Searing Blaze is an absolute all-star here. 3-0
Round 4 – Bant Eldrazi
I was paired against Ali Aintrazi, the most ‘famous’ player I have played against so far. Game 1 he has a nice curve, but I am able to keep pace. When he taps out for Drowner, I punish him with a flurry of spells and take the game. Game 2 he has a pretty slow start, but I deal myself a little damage and defer Pathing a Reality Smasher; he has a second and beats me down. Game 3 he mulls to 6. He plays two Cavern of Souls but no creatures, and I have my best draw of the tournament – a natural turn three. I have never actually played against Bant Eldrazi before, but have watched some videos and felt comfortable. Not sure how the matchup is, but I’m glad I dodged Though-Knot Seers. 4-0
Round 5 – RG Titan Breach
Another matchup I have never played but I understood the basis of his deck. He had mulligan issues the whole match. Game 1 I forgot to do the math and attack with an Eidolon when I’m at 17; he untaps and breaches a Titan, dealing a total of 18 between the Titan and Valakut. Game 2 an early Eidolon puts a ton of pressure on him and I burn him out. Game 3 he mulls to 5 and I keep a 7 with one land and several one drops. I don’t draw the second land, but put him to 3 with a bolt in hand; however turn 5 he is able to Breach a Titan and defeat me. I definitely feel favored in this matchup, but my luck caught up with me this round. 4-1
Round 6 – Tron
The natural prey for Burn. However, game 1 he has turn 3 Wurmcoil and I don’t have any Skullcrack effects so he takes it. Games 2 and 3 he fails to find Tron early and I can hold up Skullcrack effects, so the games go in a more traditional fashion (with lots of fire to face). Not much to say about this matchup, sideboarded Nature’s Claim and Thragtusk either 2-1 themselves or can be played around. 5-1
Round 7 – Jund
Going into this round, I figured a win would likely clinch me; my opponent was also verbally distressed when he found out my deck. Game 1 he has Goyf and Scooze, but the Scooze was a little late and couldn’t gain him enough life so I take it. Game 2 was much swingier. He has Goyf into Liliana, and I have a Skullcrack for his Finks; I have no cards in hand but topdeck and hardcast a Rift Bolt for the win. This is a generally good matchup for Burn, but I also think it is one of the more skill-dependent matchups and the games are always close. 6-1
Round 8 – Intentional Draw into Top 8. I am seeded 5th. 6-1-1
Quarterfinals – 4 Color Company
I’m not really familiar with this deck – it seemed to have a bunch of value creatures and the Knight of Reliquary-Retreat to Coralhelm combo, but the mana also seemed pretty bad. I wasn’t totally sure what to expect but dorky green matchups are usually good for Burn. Game 1 I have a slow start, but he hits only 1 Grim Flayer off of a Company and I have enough time to burn him out. Game 2 he Paths my Goblin Guide turn 1 (which – unless you have the next few turns lined up perfectly – seems really bad). Turn 2 I have 3 mana and am able to deploy my hand very quickly. I have a Skullcrack for his Finks, and Boros Charm finishes him off.
Semifinals – UWR Nahiri
I was playing against Ben Nikolich, who not only is a great guy, but one who shares an oddly high amount of qualities with me (the least of which being name). He was playing UWR, which is a matchup I am experienced but not confident in. Game 1 I hoped to just dodge Helix, but he finds it and Snaps it back. He stabilizes at 2 and beats me down with Snap and Clique. Game 2 I keep a just ok 7 and flood out; he also has Timely Reinforcements and I have to use burn spells on Nahiri. The game went long and I changed my plan to be able to withstand a hit from Emrakul, a sure sign that something went terribly wrong. My plan doesn’t work and he finishes me off; he ended up defeating the RG Breach player I played earlier in the finals.
Overall, I’m very satisfied with my results. I feel that I played mostly fine and drew well, with only a few major misplays (and 2 missed Eidolon triggers). My opponents mulliganed a fair amount and weren’t packing much hate. I’m also super happy that some of my other friends did well.
In terms of my deck, I feel that it was well-positioned and mostly well-tuned. I played several good matchups and no terrible ones. Despite Burn putting up good results recently, I never faced backbreaking hate until the semifinals. And despite several other Burn decks floating around the top, I never played the mirror, which I feel great about with 4 Helix main and 3 Kor Firewalker in the side. I reaffirm my distaste for Wild Nacatl and definitely prefer playing more Helix, but that’s just a personal preference. A change I will look into is going down on Searing Blaze in the main. Thanks for reading!
On running Path to Exile in the sideboard: can someone explain me in which MUs the card is absolutely needed? I don't think it's the best answer to Wurmcoil and I don't think it's needed vs Abzan CoCo.
It depends on which version you're running. If you're playing Naya with Nacatls the card is absolutely worth it since it clears the way of Goyfs, Death Shadows, Kitchen Finks (to negate the second lifegain trigger) Kor Firwalker and the other one (Tinderforge Master? Can't remember right now). I think it DOES do work against Wurmcoil Engine and is a fine answer to it. Also gold against Thought Knot, Reality Smasher, etc.
Hi all, recently I've been running into a lot of issues with Bant Eldrazi. Anyone have specifically good SB against them? Currently I'm basically siding in Path to Exile for their thought knot and hope i'm faster then them.
Seems like an unfavorable match up. I was thinking that maybe I should switch to a black variant of burn for Tasigur to help with the thought knot issue. I'm currently running catless naya burn.
Also, a side question...has anyone tried noxious revival? I've been running a 1x and have been enjoying it. I was curious what everyone else thinks.

I believe the usual plan is to side out a few creatures and bring in Paths & Deflecting Palms
Personally I'm not running path, but I bring in Satyr Firedancer instead. So far it's been amazing, killing thought knot seer with a boros charm feels great Also it gets around the reality smasher's discard ability, since the damage is dealt by a creature ability, not a spell.
About Noxious Revival, I think it's bad. The main reason being that most of our spells are at similar powerlevel. So why would you want to set a spell on top of your library for the next turn, instead of drawing a spell this turn, and then a random card the next one?
Example
Turn 1: draw noxious revival, use it to put boros charm on top of your library
Turn 2: draw boros charm
vs
Turn 1: draw other flex spot card (skullcrack/helix/etc)
Turn 2: draw random card
Now I suppose you could use it to interact with your opponent's graveyard shenanigans, or to put a dead card on top of his library, but I don't think that's the kind of thing that warrants removing a burn spell from the deck

just wanted to ask a question about the new enemy fast lands... does anyone think the new R/W land will be played for painless mana in place of any number of shocks/fetches and if so what do you guys think the new manabase would look like?
At least for me, going from 2 Stomping Ground, 3 Foundry to 2 Stomping Ground, 2 Foundry, 1 Inspiring Vantage is a no-brainer for me. I play 19 lands, but if I played 20, I'd probably have 1 Copperline Gorge in there too. I wouldn't drop fetches for them and I think it's important to maintain 2 shocks in case of land destruction.
Ive been doing a lot of play testing using my mono red burn and have a bit of feedback regarding ash zealot.
While she is really sweet, I have come to the conclusion that she just isn't fast enough. The problem lies in her 2 mana cost. I would much rather have a spark elemental followed up with a shard volley for the finish than a 2 mana burn spell that does 2 damage. With burn, we are either winning by turn 5, or we are playing as a pseudo control player against affinity or infect (moreso infect). I had High hopes for her, but alas, is is the right girl at the wrong time. Modern is a fast format.
Lathnu Hellion is a card we are going to have to look at. 3 mana for a potential 8 damage. 4 on turn 3, 4 on turn 4 before it finally needs to be sacrificed. With the current aggro heavy meta I don't know if it will be viable or not, especially since 3 mana is at the utmost limit of what we want to spend. If it had trample I'd say without a doubt it would be run but it doesn't so that calls it's ability into light.
What do you guys think? I have no doubt that this card will be tried.
It's possible that the card is good, but it reminds me a bit of Hellspark Elemental. It cost more mana for 1 less power, but you could pay in installments and it comes down turn 2.
In my opinion I don't think the card will be played in Modern. It could help make RDW a thing in Standard again though.
