well, a burn deck stopped my win streak at last week's FNM. It was hard to feel bad after going 14-1 against a variety of decks, but still, losing to burn felt.... pretty low. I was basically a sitting duck for 7 bolts game 1, and in game 2 along came a RIP and I didn't find my bounce spell, not that I had many turns to do it anyway. Searing blazes ensured my life total kept plummeting while my reducers didn't survive. Made short work of me is an apt description.
The decks I beat were Grixis DS and Restore balance, which is nice. I still find GDS a decent MU. They can strip our hand but their plan A involves letting me win without a past in flames. Grapeshot for 7-9 is not hard, any higher and their DS is no better than a wild nacatl.
Restore Balance was interesting, I last faced the guy with fair decks like grixis delver/control and typically lost, but this time all I had to do was hold on to a reducer and hope he doesn't manage to shrink his hand too much. I won both games by plunking a third land, playing a reducer and just going.
That loss to burn had me thinking radical ideas again. Titi for blocking, soaking up burn spells and possibly winning. Splashing W for helixes. Splashing B for Collective Brutality. Madcap package. I've decided to go back to Titi for a bit, which got me to 6-0 (iirc) before i went Epic Experiment (as an experiment lol). Epic hasn't been fantastic, I'm prepared to call it quits on this contender.

Hey guys!
Come back to my favorite deck ever after some months playing faeries and tezzerator lol
Would like to ask you how to make my list great again. My list is with 7 reducers, 3 remand, 2 apostles.
Would like to know more about peer and the lists with 3 or even 4 grapeshot
I've since cut Apostle's Blessing in favor of Noxious Revival. I'm currently playing 2 Remand / 2 Peer / 1 Noxious as well as 8 reducers. I suppose I could also do 7 reducers and 3 Remand.
Was wondering if you or other storm players could play test Postmortem Lunge, it had performed insanely well for me in the slot of noxious revival but I'd like to here how it works in wider medas. It's the first change I've made to my deck on my own in a long time that actually has performed significantly better than the card it's replacing. Let me know!
I'm not sure it could ever be better than Noxious Revival. The green phyrexian spell is just so versatile, allowing us to always grab a reducer off of a gifts, or a removal spell for a hate creature. It can also be cast in response to Manamorphose to grab another ritual to generate enough mana with.
And that's not even taking into account the ways it can be used on your opponent's graveyard...

Well, of course it could be better. In the textbook example of an opponent Fatal Pushing your reducer with your FIRST ritual on the stack and lets say your 3 lands have been tapped for this endeavor, you can let the Push resolve, Ritual resolves for RRR, pay RR and 2 life and get the reducer back, and carry on to your second ritual with the remaining R.
But of course for this purpose, I'd much rather just use Apostles. On the other hand, if you only draw your tech 2 turns after your reducer died, or if baral was Inquisitioned on turn 1, then post mortem actually lets you do a rude shock on turn 2 EOT bringing back baral, and going off t3.
Noxious is like the jack of all trades. While blessing and lunge work purely with our reducers, noxious can be anything in your GY that you want it to be; if you can get a draw effect afterward. In the first example, noxious wouldn't be much help unless you can morphose afterwards, and don't forget you are going to need to recast the reducer for UR or 1U. Tricky, to say the least. Lunge actually lets you "cast" a reducer for RR, which definitely has its uses.

What is our plan against Splinter Twin? I have sources saying that the recent SCG Buyout is because they have information that it's going to be unbanned on the 28th, and assuming storm isn't banned to enable it, I'm wondering how we match up.
Do we have enough interaction to counter their go-off and return serve on our turn? Do we have to find a way to go faster? Or is this just a case of two entirely uninteractive decks not caring about the other and just gunning ASAP for the combo?

we are on average a turn faster, and more consistent. they are harder to hate out with broad hate pieces (like grafdigger hits many archetypes and also storm), and they have more interaction.
I'd say our best chance is to race them. apostle's blessing to protect our reducer as we fire off, or holding up a dispel. To hate out twin in our colors (wow this is nostalgic) you have rending volley, torpor orb. You could also just bounce the target with twin on the stack, but rending volley can't be countered. I play dismembers, so I have that "im tapped out, so it should be safe to go off" thing going for me.

Yeah, I sincerely doubt that twin would be unbanned, I sometimes play *****ty twin with Kiki Jiki for *****s and giggles at FNMs and it's not even bad, would be insanely good if unbanned. But if it was unbanned you can just buy splinter twins, idk about other storm players but I have all the cards...
Today I participated in a PPTQ and had one of the worst outings with the deck that I ever had. I made some costly mistakes and I feel I didn't mulligan aggressively enough for my sideboard cards when I should have. Combined with an unlucky break here and there and my chances at closing out the day with a positive record were smashed. Here is the decklist:
I decided to not play any Empty the Warrens in the main deck, I always put one in there and replace the 3rd Grapehot but this time I wanted to try something different.
Round 1 vs Monogreen Devotion
I start off slowly with 1 land in my opening 7 and for 2 or 3 turns I missed my second land drop. When I finally made it I played Goblin Electromancer. In his turn my opponent casts Primal Command putting my Steam Vents on top and he searches for a creature. He should have made me shuffle to prevent the land from returning but it wouldn't have made a difference. Due to missing several land drops I had a hand that could easily go off with 1 mana and a reducer so I did just that and killed him. I side in Swan Song, Truth and Spree. In the second game the same thing happened, if you don't have interaction against Storm you better be faster and he wasn't.
1-0
Round 2 vs Scapeshift Bring to Light
We had a really cool game one with him constantly getting in the way of me doing my thing. At a certain point I started sculpting my hand and did nothing but keep my mana open against his already large manabase. I was representing counters for his scapeshift and was trying to delay him so I could rebuild. He actually fell for it and didn't play anything. The bad part was he had stockpiled nothing but counters so when I started playing my things I was stopped and destroyed the next turn.
Game 2 was very frustrating, I kept 6 cards with 3 lands, 1 reducer and 2 cantrips, I scryed a land to the bottom. Turn 1 cantrip is draw a land and scry 2 lands to the bottom, turn 2 draw land the Sleight for 2 more lands. Turn 3 draw land, turn 4 draw cantrip and get land. When he scapeshifted I had either played, scryed or had still in hand 15 of the 18 lands in the deck. I had sided in Swan Song, Truth and Blood Moon.
1-1
Round 3 vs Ad Nauseum
Turn 0 Leyline...well...I played it out a bit to make sure I was playing against Ad Nauseum but without an Empty this was pretty much game over from the start. So on to game 2. I side in Swan Songs, Thruths, Empty and Sprees. He once again starts of with a Leyline on turn 0 so that sucked. We played a long game as he got completely stuck on 3 lands for a very long time. I was actually beating down with Electromancers so he was forced to play his unlife which I countered, he ofcourse had a 2nd in hand. The game went on for about 12 turns in which I didn't see a single PiF, Gifts, Truth or Storm spell. We get to the point where he draws his 4th land and on my turn I draw my first Echoing Thruth, at that point in the game he has Leyline, Unlife and Grafdiggers Cage in play. That means I get to bounce of his things and I get 1 chance to do it. I force it by making a *****load of tokens to finish him off, As we proceed to combat he slams that Ad Nauseam and I Remand it, he Pacts the Remand. The right play at that moment would have been to bounce his Unlife and prevent him from using AN to draw cards since he was at a very low life total. Instead I (for some reason) let it resolve and die... RL misclick?
1-2
Round 4 vs Infect
My opponent wins the die roll and goes Breeding Pool tapped and passes, I cantrip on my turn. He plays 2 Glistener Elves, on my turn I Manamorphose and kill his 2 creatures. He then playes Agent and Elf on his turn which I both promptly kill on my turn. At this point I'm feeling pretty happy since I took care of 4 of his creatures and that is a big blow for infect. He then plays the 2/2 corrupter and I'm out of Grapeshots. He kills me in 2 turn with 2 pump spells while I don't find anywsay of interacting with him.
Game 2 I side in removal, Swan Song, Spree for Spellskites, Empty and Blood Moon. I see my opening hand and I feel pretty good about myself although I didn't draw any removal. On turn 2 I play Baral and pass, he plays an Agent with a Hierarch already on the field. On turn 3 I do my ***** and make 18 goblins with him on 17. On his turn 3 he casts double Might of Old Krosa and kills me...well then...
1-3
Round 5 vs Burn
This is the game in which I should've mulliganed alot more for my answers in game 2. In game one he goes T1 Guide into T2 Eidolon. I manage to get both of the field but took alot of damage doing it, I end up with a Baral on an empty board. I somehow get to a point due to him flooding out where I actually have a chance to close it out but miss on 2 chances of getting a ritual with 2 Peers, on his next turn he kills me.
Game 2 bad, really bad. I put in Truth, Swan Song, Bolt and Empty. I don't see any hate in my opening hand and mull. No hate but a perfect 6 card hand and I keep. I represent a counter on turn 2 (I don't have it) but he plays his Eidolon into it and at that point I realise he must have a spare Eidolon. It was even worse since he had 2 extra. At that point it was pretty much game over since he constantly kept mana open to bolt his own Eidolon should I try to bounce them.
1-4
Round 6 vs Thopter Foundry Combo
Can't really say much about this aside from the fact that I was very tired and kept making stupid mistakes. I lost this one aswell.
I made some stupid mistakes that cost me games so that is something I must improve on, there were however some things that were beyond my control but those happen to everyone. Next time I'm hopefully more prepared.
The past few weeks I have been playing 4 remands in the main deck and I have been really impressed with them in a lot of matches. I know that people like Caleb Scherer play 0. What's everyone's opinion...do you all like Remand or hate it?
Also, what is everyone playing in their flex spots (Noxious Revival, peer, blessing, 8th dork). I went for 2 peer and they have performed for me, but I haven't really explored blessing or Revival.

So I guess technically we have 9 flex spots, but generally speaking some of those slots are pretty much filled already with things like peer, 8th dork, Remand etc...realistically I'd say we have like 4 or so flex spots that we can really can customize.
How have you been finding the blessing and Revival?
So hi guys, I'm quite a beginner with Gifts Storm and I made my first "tuesday modern" with Gift Storm. Deck is awesome.
Nothing special on the list, atm i'm playing with 1 noxious, 8 cost reducers, 2 remand and 2 peer through depths, 18 lands (fetchland manabase).
Sideboard looks like this atm (it's Emma Handy's one):
So, i closed 3-1, i'm making a little report to understand if my SB'ing was good or how can I change plan.
T1 vs Merfolks
g1 is easy, i win the die roll. Start 2 cost reducers (cr from now on) in hand, drop one on turn 2, his t1 is island pass and t2 lord go, so he's tapout and i have my cr, untap and win
g2 he has relics and 3 cursecatchers, but keep missing lords and so pressure. Though i misplay and get my Gifts countered after flooding my board with multiple cr, so he wins with master of waves.
g3 he still has relic, catchers and grafdigger's. I have good hand but relies on PiF. He sacs relic to try to find pressure, I echoing truth cage (with swan song protection) during my combo turn, then PiF for the win.
In: 1 Empty, 2 swan songs, 1 Echoing
Out: 2 Remand, 1 noxious, 1 peer
decided not to bring in removals because i thought i could be faster than him, preferred not to change maindeck config too much. Probably should have brought in Spree, not sure what cut tho.
T2 vs Abzan Vizier Company
nothing much to say here, g1 he is 1 turn faster, g2 i'm 1 turn faster, g3 i miss 2nd landrop (kept a t3 hand with echoing truth for eidolon, but was 1-lander with sleight, otd, should have mulled? i still think it's a keep..)
T3 vs Naya Goodstuff (?)
g1 i completely **** up: it's my t3 and he has just 1 mana up and scooze+nacatl. I go baral, ritual that resolves so i'm free to go. I have grapeshot in hand but i completely forget to shoot scooze so i gifts and get my PiF eaten like a complete idiot. Still get to wrath his board and setup for a kill 2 turns later.
g2 standard issues, i grapeshot his board and drop 12 gobs with Etw, he plays scooze that gets big fast but can't handle goblins and i win.
In: 1 swan song, 1 lightning bolt, 1 echoing truth, 1 empty
Out: 2 remand, 1 noxious, 1 sleight
didn't quite know what to expect, so i tried a "catch-all" sb plan, leaving in peer in order to be able to find Echoing/swan for eventual Rule of law and/or eidolon.
T4 vs GWr Vizier Company (never saw a red card in 3 games, just a sacred foundry, dunno)
g1 he plays company t3 flipping devoted druid and fiend hunter to eat my cr, I untap, prepare for win next turn but he has 2nd company for Vizier+Duskwatch and I die to infinite ballista.
g2 he has some board, i think i can go off but forgot i sided out noxious revival, so i have gifted for 3 rituals and pif with 1 mana in pool. Well he gives me rituals so whatever. Just show confidence when you present your gift pile and they panic completely lol.
g3 he develops an incredible big board fast but i t4 him after eot t3 ritual+gifts for 2 cr, noxious and morphose (re-sided it in hehe), he gives me 2 cr, i untap and win (PiF+2 rituals in hand).
In: 3 bolts, 1 empty, 1 echoing
Out: 1 gifts, 1 gob mancer, 2 remand, 1 peer
left in noxious cuz allows us to go faster i think. Should have i brought in also dismember? dunno.
Closed 3-1, deck is great. Can't wait to see how it performs against something more interactive.
Has anyone tried Caleb's SB plan against Grixis DS? (consists in cutting all the creatures and gifts for etw, bolt, potp and dismembers, i also bring in moon that caleb doesn't play)
So I guess technically we have 9 flex spots, but generally speaking some of those slots are pretty much filled already with things like peer, 8th dork, Remand etc...realistically I'd say we have like 4 or so flex spots that we can really can customize.
How have you been finding the blessing and Revival?
They have done really good work for me, as in they have been the winning pieces where remand would not have done the job. Examples for noxious include saving stuff from surgical, chaining with manamorphoses to make gifts mana, re-playing a reducer next turn ftw, getting a third land from replaying a fetch. Blessing is a lot more straightforward. They try to kill me with ritual on the stack, NOPE.

+2 swan song
+3 lightning bolt
+2 empty the warrens
Correct? Or did I mess up with this decision? It also didn't help that I did not see Lightning Bolt in any single post-board game either match. Do I really need a 4th Lightning Bolt?
I'm missing alot of context to best answer, but you can cut a cantrip if you're playing more of them, 1 PiF (they often use Relics), or a Gifts on the draw. Remand can time walk the 3 color burn decks if you see that they're playing a lot of dual colored spells. A single grapeshot can also sometimes buy you enough time against their creature heavy hands while helping pump your storm count for EtW. I also like Echoing Truth since it can bounce Eidolons or force them to crack Relics so you can then go off, and it's especially nice when you bounce 2-3 Swiftspears in response to their spell. The match up is a race, and I feel it often comes down to mulligan decisions and how well the hand you keep matches up with their's.
So... I don't think this is very good, but if there's a place to talk about how close it could have been to something useful, its right here in this thread.
Too bad it doesn't keep the cost reduction when it flipped, this card could have been insanely broken.
Whoa there. It says you 'may' transform the card. A 1 mana, harder-to-kill Electromancer that can duplicate a spell in a pinch if necessary sounds quite good to me.
It is 4 mana not 1. It seems like an interesting one-of in the board for attrition/control to win against graveyard hate and otherwise generate value while setting up for the win (e.g., copying a dig spell). I think it's test worthy.

BGW Elves BGW|BW Tokens BW|WBR Sword&ShieldWBR|BUG DelverBUG|UWR Kiki UWR | UR Storm UR
7 Dorks
8 Rituals
4 Manamorphose
4 Gifts
8 Cantrips
2 Grapeshot
18 Lands
So I guess technically we have 9 flex spots, but generally speaking some of those slots are pretty much filled already with things like peer, 8th dork, Remand etc...realistically I'd say we have like 4 or so flex spots that we can really can customize.
How have you been finding the blessing and Revival?
Nothing special on the list, atm i'm playing with 1 noxious, 8 cost reducers, 2 remand and 2 peer through depths, 18 lands (fetchland manabase).
Sideboard looks like this atm (it's Emma Handy's one):
2 shattering spree
2 pieces of the puzzle
3 lightning bolt
1 dismember
2 swan song
2 blood moon
1 echoing truth
2 empty the warrens
In: 1 Dismember, 1 Echoing, 3 Bolts
Out: 2 Remand, 1 Noxious, 1 Peer, 1 Gob 'mancer

I mean, I know its our worst matchup, and here's how I sided:
-3 remand
-1 electromancer
-2 grapeshot
-1 noxious revival
+2 swan song
+3 lightning bolt
+2 empty the warrens
Correct? Or did I mess up with this decision? It also didn't help that I did not see Lightning Bolt in any single post-board game either match. Do I really need a 4th Lightning Bolt?

Whoa there. It says you 'may' transform the card. A 1 mana, harder-to-kill Electromancer that can duplicate a spell in a pinch if necessary sounds quite good to me.
