I've been puzzling with my sideboard but a lot of possible cards seem meta call, if someone with some experience on these cards/matters could elaborate that would be swell:
1. Leyline of Sanctity. I only see this being usefull vs BGx and Burn. Hardly seems worth it vs the mirror for instance although it hinders AD Nauseum and forces them to have the Maniac wincon. Seems like a meta choice, thoughts?
2. Why are some playing Dispel over Swan Song? Swan seems superior especially vs Burn cause of Eidolon. Is the 2/2 really that much of a problem?
3. Bounce or artifact hate. Some lists I see have Echoing/Repeals and others only have the Vandalblasts/Shattering Spree. Apart gron the usual suspect Affinity why would we prefer arti destroy so much over bounce. I get that Grafdigger is an issue but is that enough to warrant it all?
Thanks in advance
1 - I've never liked Leyline Of Sanctity, mull to 6 or to 5 to find it it's not a good idea, you will have a weak hand and you'll die to Liliana Of The Veil or Eidolon Of The Great Revel. And if you don't see it in your opening hand and you keep, you'll have 3 dead draws in your deck, and when you're facing a deck like Jund/Abzan you can't afford a dead draw.
2 - A 2/2 flyer it's a great gift for your opponent. Against Eidolon Of The Great Revel you have to kill him with Lightning Bolt or bounce it with Echoing Truth. Dispel is useful against burn spells, counters and Ad Nauseam. The 99% of times you will be okay with Dispel, you can't give them a 2/2 flyer for the 1% of times that Swan Song would be better (against Scapeshift maybe?)
So why Echoing Truth insted of running Wear/Tear? The reason is that you can also use Echoing Truth to bounce a creature if you don't find a Lightning Bolt so it's will never be a dead card in hand. Now our boogeyman : Chalice Of The Void with 2 counters! Here I prefer to run Shattering Spree. It can hit multiple Chalices, we can use it against Affinity like a Shatterstorm effect and it cost just 1 red mana. I've seen that someone plays Repeal against Chalice Of The Void, sure it's an option...but against Affinity it's not so good, and against a piece of hate like a Leyline, etc you will pay 5 mana that's too much.
All 3 can break a Chalice on 2, and only Vandalblast can't get past a Chalice on 1 and 2. However, one of the biggest reasons I like this package is that you can Gifts for it in other artifact heavy matchups and get a virtually guaranteed artifact sweeper in your hand. It gives you a bit more game against Affinity, Lantern, etc. Running it alongside Echoing Truth gives you a myriad of options for breaking lock pieces

So I'm tired and work early tomorrow, so this tourney report is going to be a bit abbreviated. Went 1-3 mostly due to unfamiliarity with the deck and a bit of bad luck. Just need to memorize all the lines, I think.
R1 vs Titanshift L 0-2
Game 1 I draw all 4 of my lands that don't tap for red. I finally get a spirebluff canal, he scpaeshifts for game.
Game 2 I keep a hand with 3 land, 3 rit and a baral, I flood out before he scapeshifts.
R2 vs Eldrazi Tron L 1-2
Game 1 I combo turn 3, don't have enough mana for the full chain and settle for EtW with 5 copies. It's still enough.
Game 2 He gets turn 1 relic, I force him to pop it with a PiF/Grapeshot/Rit/Baral pile which he does (giving me baral and rit) but I can't find enough pieces to combo a second time before reality smasher gets me.
Game 3 I cut my grapeshots for EtW, he plays ratchet bomb, the TKS takes gifts. I try to combo but have no way to get around bomb.
R3 vs Burn W 2-0
Game 1 He gets stuck on 1 land, I get a turn 3 combo into a grapeshot for 20, textbook kill.
Game 2 he gets some beats on me and takes me to 4 before I land a baral, hold priorty and start comboing, end with empty the warrens storming 18 for 36 tokens. He can't find boros charm and dies. Never drew an eidolon the whole match.
R4 vs Dredge L 1-2
Game 1 I get a kill staring down lethal with a double grapeshot kill.
Game 2 I manage to anger his board away, but he has 2 gnaw to the bone to put him to 51 life and I can't assemble a combo in time.
Game 3 An turn 2 collective brutality snipes my turn 3 gifts, I try to combo but brick my draws and settle for EtW for 10 tokens, and can't dig out a second combo before amalgam and bloodghast beats overtake me.
If more land-based combo decks are going to show up, I may need to play Crumble to Dust in my board, but otherwise I'm not overly disappointed.
And hello to my travel buddy from Chill Town Ohio. You know who you are.

Silly but basic question for you Stormers: how do you track your mana/storm count IRL? Wondering if there was an easier way then mine which is:
3 sleeved tokens put in backwards and I lay them face down on the table,
- 1 Red sleeve for red mana
- 1 Blue sleeve blue mana
- 1 White sleeve for storm count
I then use dices to keep track of all those things
I use dices and old naruto trading cards

Im not good at using the Deck Builder settings to show my actual deck build through a comment, but I was wondering if you think switching one of the four gifts and dropping one Baral for two Peer through the depths would be effective at better grabbing spells when you're about to fizzle..
Also, I was contemplating running two-three lightning bolts in my main board thinking it may be effective for creature removal or reducing the necessary storm count off of grapeshot. Would definitely appreciate a response

UU"Brute force can sometimes kick down a locked door, but knowledge is a skeleton key"UU
Hey Everyone, Just bought into Storm on MTGO and jammed some matches. I played probably 20 matches, half of which being 2 man queues to up my points to enter leagues. Just finished two leagues, both 3-2
League 1
Revolt Zoo W 2-1
Game 1 He blew me out. Game 2 I managed to combo out turn 3 and make a ton of goblin tokens, which did double dudty in attacking and clogging up the board until I built up for the grapeshot. Game 3 saw him go T1 Evolution, T2 Hidden Herb, BTE, Rally (I bolted The Evolution in response to the HH) and bashed me for 8. I had kept a hand that was a bit slow to put together the combo, but gave me access to ritual > anger. After the board reset he rebuilt, but I was able to PIF the anger and make a ton of goblins.
Elves W 2-0
Game 1 came a bit close with me on the draw, he went off and had me dead on board with 2 3/3 elvsih mystics and a 5/4 Shaman of the pack against my baral which I needed to go off next turn, but he got greedy and tapped one of the mytics for a CoCo, I think he was trying to shaman ftw, but ended up with a mytic and an elite. I went down to 3, untapped and killed him.
Game 2 saw the return of anger, with his board being decimated and me going off.
Dredge W 2-0
Game 1 was an easy, quick game. Game 2 took a little more time, but I angered after he went off then I went off.
UW Control L1-2
Game 1 was pretty easy. My understanding of playing against the control MU is that we can force force too much on them and kill their resources. Worked pretty well G1. I boarded in some echoing truths, but got completely shut out with a RIP. I tried going off with both remanding the grapeshot and echoing the RIP, but the slog took 29 minutes and it felt like they had the answer for everything. G3 I actually was able to go off with goblins, and the next turn he slams Jace, Architect of Thought. Downhill from there.
UW Control L 1-2
I thought I was playing against the same person, but I wasn't I just got unlucky. G1 again, super easy. G2&3 not so much. I boarded in the blood moons for this match, hoping to cut them off white mana, but I think that was poor boarding. This list seemed to have more threats available, with clique and snapcaster making an appearance. Jace and Elspeth also showed up, but I didn't see RIP at all.
League 2
RW Soul Sisters W 2-0
Both games were super easy. The player felt really salty game 2, since he had both leyline and RIP in play when I went off. The problem was he mulliganed and ended up pathing his own t1 sister in order to get a land to play RIP. I echooed both of them and went off. He said BS.
UW Control W2-0
Game 1 went the same way as all the other game 1's against UW control. Game 2 went very differently, where I just piled on him with resources and it seemed he didn't have all the answers this time. I didn't board in moons in this match. I am not even sure if I just played this better or if I got incredibly lucky.
RB Control W 2-0
Game 1 was rough, I think I got IOK, Brutalitied, then double TS'd into double demigod. I played to my outs and pulled the game completely out of my ass. Game 2 He slammed a Leyline of the Void, but it seems da leylines, dey do nothing! Echo into combo, ez pz
Abzan Vizer L 0-2
Game 1 I was on the draw, he had the infinite mana combo on turn 3 after t1 thoughtseize with the ballista in hand. Game 2 I kept some bolts, which bolted a vizir, but he hit a t3 eidolon and I had no way to get rid of it. He got me with the finks infinite life.
Burn 0-2
No idea how the hell I am supposed to win this. Game 1 he just burned me out on turn 4. Game 2 he slammed a t2 eidolon. It didn't even feel close.
Moving forward:
There is a bunch of stuff I want to try. Apostles Blessing out of the board might be good, letting me slam my Baral t2 and hold up protection. I was considering a splash of white, which would give me access to wear//tear. My burn MU is already atrocious, but I figured maybe the wear//tear would balance out the life loss of the shockland. Speaking of white, I was considering adding in some leylines of my own. They didn't work very well for my opponents, but I see some lists spiking the 5-0 in leagues with them. I could also go a completely different direction and attempt the transformational madcap board. Swan Song is another one that answers some of the most problematic cards, but not sure.
I've been wondering for a while, why does everyone seem to put one shivan reef in their decks instead of another land? Maybe an extra fetch or an island?
In some ways it's a holdover from when Choke was a thing, but it's also almost free right now since we have a larger reliance on colorless mana in this build than in the Pyromancer Ascension build. And we still need access to both colors.
Many of the other options can screw you over. Fast lands suck late game. Check lands can brick if you have no other lands to check. etc. Shivan gives you U every single time you need it, no matter what.

Not just the Tendo King, the power of the Galactic Leyline surpasses that of the Tempa Emperor, No!, It's magnificent power is even greater than that!
Been testing swan song in place of dispel. Its taking the slots. Being able to hit any turn 1 discard on the play, or RIP or either of the Eidolons. Its just so good.
I was just looking through some lists and almost everybody runs 2 bounce efects. so should i cut 1 bolt and add 1 repeal? I'm just really concerned about white eidolon. I never liked the white splash so no wear/tears for me. But what do you think? I'm just really used to 4 bolts, i think it's just so good.
I am going to go on and on about swan song, particularly because Eidolon of Rhetoric has been seeing more play because company decks have been seeing more play. The 1/4 body dodges bolt, and sometimes waiting on an echoing truth isn't good enough. Plus it can slot into more MU's than dispel, able to hit both TS and IOK, as well as all the counters dispel would normally hit. The 2/2 is pretty negligible as well.
So I'm working on a side board plan for my list currently was hoping I could get some help here My list is as follows and my current sideboard plan is below I do need a plan for both jund and grixis Death's shadow and for tron match ups eldratron and gx tron. Im open to all suggestions and critique

Someone on reddit the other day mentioned that his friend splashes black for discard effects (e.g. some number of collective brutalities and thoughtseizes). What do you all think about this? I think it allows us to play a grindier game and ensures that our "going off" turn isn't disrupted. I haven't seen a lot talked about a black splash, but it does seem interesting. I guess the sideboard could look like:
Is this deck enough overpowered to get something banned?
I don't think so, but I feel that Wizards is likely to ban at least one piece if not 2 if they feel it's getting too much meta share. (which is much less meta share than a "fair" deck would get before a hit) I would not be surprised if there's a piece that's hit by this time next year, though if preordain gets unbanned I expect at least one of grapeshot or empty the warrens to be banned.

I've been playing 2 Collective Brutality in my board to pretty good effect, but adding thoughtseize seems really greedy. I'm only playing 2 black sources (1 watery grave, 1 basic swamp) and while I cant fetch them, I'm not always sure it's correct unless I'm planning to fire it off that turn.
Am I correct in guessing that the correct times to play a mancer are only when I'm preparing to gifts that turn or next, or when I have another in hand? What are proper other times to play one?

Been jamming for a little on MTGO, and I feel like the lines are highly dependent on what your opponent is on/ what their board is/what you have. Sometimes I just jam that ***** turn 2, against like Elves or something, knowing there is little they are going to do about it and threaten the turn 3. On the flip side, I will wait until I have enough mana to have counter back up and go off against UW or skred.
I've been playing a few leagues with the deck, and over all it feels pretty good. I've been trying a single copy of Noxious Revival to guarantee I get what I want when casting gifts. I've slotted it in one of the flex cantrip slots.
Still not sold on what goes in that flex slot either. Tested a bit with Thought Scour, going to try Peer through Depths and a few others. How has everyone else's lists been running?
Noxious revival is card disadvantage and I've found drawing it off the top will just lose you the game. Especially with all the DS decks stripping your hand. Tried apostle's blessing and it is insane, definitely deserves a couple of those flex slots. Peer through depths is my favorite over scroll and thought scour. The deck doesn't have a lot of turn two plays, not to mention that you can hold it up along side remand which feels very good.

Currently Playing:
GBStandard - Golgari Safari MidrangeBG
RBWModern - Mardu PyromancerWBR
RLegacy - Good Old Fashioned BurnR
Clan Contest 3 Mafia - Mafia Co-MVP
Been jamming for a little on MTGO, and I feel like the lines are highly dependent on what your opponent is on/ what their board is/what you have. Sometimes I just jam that ***** turn 2, against like Elves or something, knowing there is little they are going to do about it and threaten the turn 3. On the flip side, I will wait until I have enough mana to have counter back up and go off against UW or skred.
My H/W list
Still not sold on what goes in that flex slot either. Tested a bit with Thought Scour, going to try Peer through Depths and a few others. How has everyone else's lists been running?
