Working on a sideboard for a BUG version. What I've noticed is that often I only have access to one non-green source. Green cards are the best (4 Nature's Claim) followed by 1 mana cards in general (3 Duress). I have the option of playing both black and blue sideboard cards, but typically don't want to have to increase my non-green spell count, especially bringing in two colors. I like cards like Spell Pierce, Dispel, Thoughtseize, but would prefer to stick to one color. It feels like Thoughtseize is better against a larger field, but obviously worse against burn.
I'd like some number of reactive spells, but would want to bring them in against decks where discard is also good, and as I said above, don't want to bring in both blue and black spells to increase my non-green spell count. What's the consensus on reactive (Spell Pierce) vs proactive (Thoughtseize)?
So I'm playing gut shot in the sideboard in case of the mirror, it works pretty well and I'm wondering what people think about running two in the side board.

Hi, I'm trying to make my MonoG version competitive. I can't afford a playerset of Noble Hierarch , or do I think I ever will(edh takes most of my budget).
@VexenX: I'm also on Mono-G, awaiting the upcoming (please?) Hierarch reprint to jump aboard the UG camp.
However, the more it goes the more I believe a light splash with Fetches, Blight Agent, a couple Probes, and say 2x Become immense could benefit the deck. I mean, what do we have to lose? Mana consistency? Say If we can work out a functionnal mana-base, I think all those cards could give the mono-G build more punch.
I'm curious to hear @Ultra_Magnus's take on that. Light color splash in Mono-G.
@Dragonombra: Become Immense is too slow for Mono-G? But Mono-G is the slowest sibling of the Infect family. It tends to grind games out, and does it better. It reaches the late-game way more often than other versions, where Becomme immense becomes live regardless of the size of your graveyard (theoretically).
For those waiting for Modern Masters 2015 before committing to Noble Hierarch, I definitely think it is worth running fetches, Breeding Pool and Blighted Agent, instead of going with Mono Green.
So I have been working on this deck for basically since I began playing Magic (That was about 2 months ago.), and I would like to get feedback from the thread devoted to the deck. It is budget, and I know that the land could be done better, so please don't make any suggestions for that. Thank you guys, all criticism is appreciated.

+2 Wild defiance (Anti Burn and acts like a free pump spell when u target your creatures with pump)
+3 Become Immense (Gotta make use of all that pump spells that goes into the grave)
+4 Yavimaya Coast (Coming into play untapped is very important and the game should be over quick so the 1 damage for coloured mana shouldn't be an problem)
+3 Gitaxian Probe (Opp's Hand info + card draw for 2 life or U is a pretty good deal)
Also see if you can trade in your temples for 2 Breeding Pool (They tend to retain their value and could be used in other decks, Also if you finally got fetches in the future, the fetches could fetch Breeding Pool too, smoothing out your mana base.)
I'm toying with the idea of infect once Hiarach gets a much needed reprint. This is because while I like boggles which is my current deck the spike in me wants something tier one. How good do you guys think this deck will be going forward? Thanks.
It will largely depends on what WOTC wanna print, the infect mechanic shouldn't be see-ing play in standard soon since we won't be going back to the plane of mirrodin anytime soon.
The pump spells that was recently introduced was Become Immense, unless WOTC wants to print more pumps or protection spells that cost <2 CMC then newer cards will be considered.
As for meta gaming wise, as long as the junk overlords are still in power, infect will too, since infect preys on slower decks such as mid-range or control.
BTW we have 2 T16 in SCG Premier IQ Dallas, US
Both running GU in the 1st place and 16th place.

you think duress is better than spellskite? also wild definace i would split up between the duress, im also in the same boat trying to make the BUG version lol. I do play 2 dismembers side tho also.
Has anyone ever considered running a play set of City of Brass and possibly a play set of Gemstone Mine so that you can run four Assault Strobe. It is possible, in this case, to win on turn two (if your opponent doesnt play a turn 1 creature). And all you need is 3 cards in your hand to make it happen, an infect creature, a +4/+4 pump spell, and Assault Strobe. It works quite well and I suggest it.

I think it's merit have been discussed in this thread already. By itself it is +1/+1. At sorcery speed, it only presents lethal with coupled with another sorcery speed +4/+4 and the opponent cannot have blockers. The advantage of instant speed pump is that we can do it after opponents have declared no blockers.
Overall, it allows for more turn 2-3 kills but is easier for the opponent to play around. I would play Rancor with Assault strobe to at least force some damage through if the opponent has any sort of board presence.
Thats true actually, I was thinking of running Rancor, but combined with the double strike, its even more helpful, not only because of the second strike, but also because you can surprise first strike them.
Currently running
3 Duress
3 Thoughtseize
3 Abrupt Decay
1 Illness in the Ranks
1 Dismember
Twin - Nature's claim, Abrupt Decay, possibly discard
Abzan - Illness in the Ranks, Dismember, possibly decay
Burn - Abrupt Decay, Duress
Affinity - Nature's Claim
Combo/Control - Duress, Thoughtseize

For the burn matchup, I would use wild defiance and nature's claim since they would prob run Blood Moon and Wild Defiance makes your creature's unkillable.

I am running typical MonoG land base of:
x4 Cathedral of War
x4 Inkmoth Nexus
x2 Pendelhaven
x12 Forest
My question is how should I change this up to make room for fetchlands/ Become Immense? Would 8 fetches be good?
Also I need some sideboard advice! Thank you!
What's the rest of the deck look like? Some of the choices for sideboard/mana will be dependent on your main deck list.
Off the top of my head though i'd consider Avoid Fate. No one expects an actual green (mostly) counter.
