Hi, I was wondering if this deck should be moved out of tier 1 now with the probe ban? It has seen a pretty significant drop in top 8s already, and it will probably only get worse once people really realize the deck is dead and worthless.

I'm assuming you are new to our forums and not intending on trolling. But I would like to point out a few rules. The first is to answer your question. We use hard Modern Nexus meta game data, X amount of wins in paper and online, to create our tiering system, and the % changes each month. So Infects % slips under our guidelines, then yes, I will move infect accordingly. We update this around the 10th every month, so you got about 2 weeks before we update it.
Modern nexus is the most comprehensive tiering for modern decks, and looks at all wins, not just reported wins, as well as paper. So well know then. Infect is still pulling results however.
Lastly, the forums are here to serve as a place to talk about the cards in the deck. If you wish to talk about meta anaylizing, please go to the state of modern thread. I'm sure you didn't intend to troll, but saying the deck is dead and worthless would be trolling to our rules.
Hi, I was wondering if this deck should be moved out of tier 1 now with the probe ban? It has seen a pretty significant drop in top 8s already, and it will probably only get worse once people really realize the deck is dead and worthless.
The tiering system is also a popularity list. The more a deck gets played the higher it goes up in the Tier lists.
Tier lists just shows you the most popular decks at this moment.
This way you can take a look at the list and see wich decks your a definitely going to encounter when you go to a big tournament.
Second can you explain me why the deck is "dead and worthless"?
I won more games without then with probe played because you will never see it every game. Also Legacy infect does even play the full playset and it gets big results. There are matchups were some of them even gets boarded out.
A deck being played less then before does not mean it is "dead and worthless" mate it just means a lot of people just like to take the hype train when a deck is showing a lot of results. This is also means it gets played a lot and when a deck gets played a lot you see it place higher a lot more then decks that don't get played a lot.
Sounds pretty logical right?

I went 4/0 at my lgs last week in a field of 55 players.
From memory i played against jund round 1 esper control round 2 tron round 3 (beat him game 1 when he had a karn and ulamog out very happy with that :D) and skred round 4.
The deck is faster and packs more protection now from most lists ive seen. Time will tell but i definitely feel its still tier 1.
Rancor seems slightly better than Groundswell to me; will give it a shot!
Following testing, I do not believe Rancor is the way forward for me. It interacts poorly with Inkmoth Nexus and has to be played in the main phase. We don't really have enough creatures to make full use of its recurring ability.
I did enjoy one game though where I smashed my opponent with Dryad Arbor armed with 2x Rancor
I prefer 2x Groundswell now, as per the second 5-0 list:
Serum Visions is good for digging, allows you do to some stuff when setting up a 1 shot kill and is remarkably good early game when setting up your mana.
I am also on 2 Groundswell now from 4. I switched two of them for 2 Apostel`s Belssing to get some more protection and evasion in and it is working great so far.
Thanks for you write ups they are really helpfull and I think not only for me but for all of us.

I like some of the decisions he has made but don't like others.
4x apostles blessing..... seems like overkill, especially if you face burn.
Mutagenic Growth has always been a all star card for me. Much more of my wins are done with mutagenics then BI.
I prefer not to run rancor but understand the reasoning.
4x groundswell is working so well for me now and in all my play testing im finding that it is performing fantastically. It is allowing turn 2 wins more frequently then pre ban and making turn 3 wins more likely too.
Im liking the probe ban so far. It is a excellent excuse to look at other ways to play the deck while adding uncertainty to your opponents since infectors are brewing.
4x Blessing is way to much just give it a 2 Blessing, 2 Spell Pierce split and your good to go.
Also no Groundswell keeps the deck at the same speed but since we are already fast it might not be that big of a deal.
I prefer to play fast so I added in some Groundswells because we had a good opening for them

Modern Monday was yesterday and I refuse to let Infect go the way of the Dodo. We had a nice turnout and played for four rounds. Here is how I did:
Here was my matches: Round 1: (Opponent's deck: Affinity)
Game 1: They managed to set up faster than me and managed to kill me with infect damage which was kind go annoying.
Game 2: Drew my seven and had no colored mana except for an Inkmoth Nexus, had to mulligan. Next hand had no lands, mulligan number two. Next hand had no lands and I didn't want to go to five and kept it... and it was no good by any means. Affinity is a hard match regardless and my opponent just managed to set up quicker than me.
Round 2: (Opponent's deck: U/R Aggro)
Game 1: Like my deck in speed but they managed to really go off with Kiln Fiend on turn 3 doing 18 managed.
Game 2: I fought harder and managed to keep my opponent creatures off the board but they managed to eat all my removal spells and then won.
Round 3: (Opponent's deck: Abzan Company)
Game 1: This game they cast Melira, Sylvok Outcast on turn 2, I killed it with my one main deck Dismember. Then they played the new creature Renegade Rallier and got Melira, Sylvok Outcast back and then I scooped.
Game 2: My sideboard was really with me that game indeed. Turn one, dropped Grafdigger's Cage and passed. Turn two, then dropped Spellskite and passed. That game was really with me and managed to kill Melira, Sylvok Outcast with Dismember again and tried to get it back with Renegade Rallier but couldn't because of Grafdigger's Cage.
Game 3: Infect was one with me. I managed to get the turn four win after they tapped out with me going all in.
Round 4: (Opponent's deck: Collective Company Elves)
Game 1: Blighted Agent was the hero in this match. They can go really wide but an unblockable infecter gets there.
Game 2: This game I didn't have an unblockable creature nor an Inkmoth Nexus and they managed to go very wide against me.
Game 3: Blighted Agent was with me again and I managed to turn four my opponent with an unblockable infecter again.
All in all Infect didn't do bad but didn't managed to do fantastic either. I would have to say that infect is more hit and miss now because people think that the deck will not perform that well because of the bannings and the new removal spell Fatal Push now in the meta.
I fear it will drop to Tier 2 in the coming weeks/months. What does everyone think?
I've played with Sylvan Scrying in place of Viridian Corrupter on main deck, with corrupter in sideboard. I ended cut the Scrying because how important is saving slots on side.
A version of the deck with a couple of Serum Visions could be better? Some have made tops recently... But I dont't have the time to test with it now.
Any thoughts on main or side?
And sorry for my bad english. It's not my first language.
Why are people worried the deck will go to tier 2? It's not like the deck hasn't been there before. And tiers have more to do with popularity than wins.
I've never liked Sylvan Scrying in Infect. It's sorcery speed and feels slow every time I used it. If only Crop Rotation were legal.
And what's the general consensus on Serum Visions? I've been seeing mixed results on it overall.
[EDIT] A possible alternative would be to increase Mutagenic Growth to 4x at the expense of either a Spellskite or (more likely) an Apostle's Blessing. I keep 1x Dispel, Distortion Strike, Spell Pierce and Twisted Image, with the option of increasing any of these to 2x post sideboard, since I do not know which of these will serve best in the first game.

My initial feeling is we play more protection allowing us more chances to go all in and just protect the creatures.
Following testing, I do not believe Rancor is the way forward for me. It interacts poorly with Inkmoth Nexus and has to be played in the main phase. We don't really have enough creatures to make full use of its recurring ability.

Still not sure on the exact lands, and the other spell slots seem to be flex slots and up to the preference of the player.
Rancor may well work in a different list such as the SCG one which aims to play a longer game:
https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/553534#online
Also, there was one other SCG deck that continued to play 4x Become Immense with one more fetch land, perhaps this is worth a shot:
