I think Shriekmaw is worse overall now than BGH simply because BGH can hit both Death Shadow and any relevant Eldrazi creature, Shriekmaw can't. Specifically against Eldrazi, both are good, and for death shadow BGH is better. So that makes me lean towards BGH here (If I would run any of the two).

You bring up a good point. I forget because against the old deaths shadow deck, shriekmaw can kill swiftspear, steppe lynx, and goyf. Now it only kills 50% of the decks threats.
finally got around to trying out noble hierach... card is VERY good. enabled some turn 2 lilys and offered some mana fixing against a blood moon deck. very much recommended. went from 2 to 3 thoughtseize and felt the change was favorable, felt good grabbing supreme verdicts and become immense. dark confidant has been great too.
still not sold on collective brutality in the mainboard though, and shambling vent doesn't do much for me. much prefer stirring wildwood. not sure how many rhino should be in the mainboard. ran 4 for a while and it was too much, but now with 2 in the main, i'm not drawing it as much as i'd like. burn is very much a problem in playtesting and i still think the sideboard needs good burn hate.
That flyingdelver list is pretty close to what i'm running; it's not bad.
and nihil spellbomb is pretty good. good filler card against grixis delver and beats other odd stuff like living end that cage misses.
i'd drop feed the clan for either blessed alliance, kitchen finks, or even timely reinforcements. probably finks is best because you can bring that in for jund/junk/grixis. blessed alliance hits deaths shadow aggro/infect too. blessed alliance looks really good right now but i'm not seeing many lists run it.
Has anyone tried flaying tendrils out of the board? Seems great against dredge, and stuff like elves/merfolk. Even grabs etched champion.
Im a huge fan of the 3 mana wraths black offers. I was running 1 before I started running Voice of Resurgence. Now I am running Drown in Sorrow since I havent seen much abzan company or dredge also. Run it, and dont be shy.
I recently added Flaying Tendrils to my sideboard also but I haven't actually been able to use it much lately. I'm starting to think I may end up liking Drown in Sorrow instead because of the scry effect.

I've always just stuck with 1x Damnation and 1x EE
Junk is doing really well, it got a top 8 in Brisbane, 2nd place in the SCG Open and some nice results at States. For the first time in over a year, regular Jund is the worst tier 1 GBx deck.
Death Shadow decks are lowering the amount of ramp decks out there which is making Junk better in those fairer matchups.
I played against Death's Shadow Jund for the first time last night running a fairly stock Hierarch/Flayer list, the matchup felt easier than I expected it to be. I ended up boarding out all of my discard and treating it like a normal BGx mirror, bringing in grindy cards like Gideon, Damnation/EE, Blessed Alliance (highly recommend), and Fulminator Mage (their manabase is horrendous). My opponent wasn't playing the white splash, which seems like a poor decision. Without having to worry about something like Lingering Souls, I had no problem keeping his board clear, even through a barrage of discard spells. I know this isn't the DS board, but it felt like it was incorrect for my opponent to keep all 8 discard spells in, as we quickly got to top decking and he was drawing discard spells when I had nothing (or lands) in hand. The lack of long-term advantage cards like Huntmaster and Dark Confidant meant that, as long as I could get chump blockers deployed, I wasn't really falling behind on card advantage if I needed a turn or two to find a removal spell.
My original expectation was that playing against the deck would be like playing against Jund with bigger dudes, but the deck just feels...simpler. They can't interact with the graveyard as well due to a lack of Scooze, the lack of cards like Confidant and Huntmaster means that they can't pull ahead as quickly in a board stall, and all of their creatures can be tagged by Fatal Push with a minimum of fuss. I expected Abzan to be favored, but I didn't expect to be that favored. I think DS Jund has a worse Abzan matchup than traditional Jund.
I'm still getting used to Abzan a bit (transitioning from Jund), but if DS Jund is the new deck to beat, I like our position in the metagame.
Hey guys, I'm switching from Jund to Junk from the time being. It seems to be the better of the two GBx brothers as of now. Here is my current decklist - any thoughts?
It's by far their worst matchup. It's exiling removal, goyfs with tribal and artifacts, and souls.
I am undecided on the white splash, I see merits to having it and not having it. I think lingering soul helps dilute it's plan.
I didn't see Jerry Thompson, Michael Majors or Sam Black suggest boarding out discard against Jund or Junk so I'd firmly suggest being against it if they are
I had been building the deck since september and finished it the previous week (I am still using allied fetchlands). Lots of our cards are going to get a reprint and this is huge since we play the most expensive deck in the format. I wasnt playing mtg during previous modern masters (started at bfz). However i know that prices generally reach their low 1-2 weeks after release and then rebound slowly. If you want to build the deck so much just do it. I recieved the last cards of my deck (lilies and goyfs) 3 days before the reprint announcement and i havent regreted it. If you relly like the deck dont worry about its position in the meta. Currently we are tier one and one of the best decks. We always are tier 1-1.5
Alrighty, cheers. I'm infamous for buying things at the wrong time (bought a splinter twin deck month before ban). Not saying that Goyf or something from the deck will be banned, just hoping that I won't end up buying Goyfs today and month later they will drop to 50 or 60.
Thanks!
This is by far the cheapest Goyf has ever been, I was buying them for 120 a piece so definitely count your blessings
I use Thrun the Last Troll he is good in the mirror and gg against control. Worship needs a deck with more creatures. It was used during the eldrazi winter but it doesnt seem good right now. We have better cards against burn. Worship is great in the bant eldrazi deck they use it a lot in their sb
I would think we have lots of creatures with all of our spirits and once you drop Thrun you can pretty much only get rid of him with Damnation or Wrath.
Guys is there a possibility that SFM is freed on my Monday? My 3 GP promos and the Worldwake one in my EDH deck are waiting patiently.
If this happens we are the top dog in the format
I've been wondering the same thing since picking up the deck. I think it largely comes down to how many white sources you need, since it probably replaces the 1-of Stirring Wildwood. While Treetop does die to Bolt, I think we're seeing a mild downtick in the number of Lightning Bolts in Tier 1, given that traditional Jund is on a bit of a downswing and DS Jund runs Tarfire. Treetop does start attacking a turn earlier than Wildwood, and the trample is great for getting past chump blockers (lots of Lingering Souls tokens these days), while the Wildwood is better on defense thanks to reach. I think Treetop might be better in Noble Hierarch lists because they only run 22 lands, but I have no strong argument to back that up. It probably just comes down to personal preference and what you don't want to lose to.

I will say I have 3x World Wake foil SFM's along with a foil Batterskull in my binder
