Round 3 vs Kiki Cord 1-2 Loss
-Mana flooded in game 3, didn't have anything to activate Sanctum of Ugin
Round 4 vs Coco Deck 2-1 Win
-Lost game 1, mulliganed to 4 cards, couldn't get removal before they combo'd off
Round 5 vs Jund 2-1 Win
-Obstinate Baloth and thragtusks were great in this matchup
2nd League
Round 1 vs Ad-Nauseum 2-1 Win
-Thought-Knot Seer was hands down what saved me in this matchup, removed his combo pieces
-Nature's Claim to remove artifacts was also really key
Round 2 vs Scapeshift 2-1 Win
-Thought-Knot seer again was really key, removed scapeshift, warping wail was also great assurance against it
-Karn and World breaker keeping them off the amount of lands they needed was great
-Brought in thragtusks and Nature's claim to keep their math off, the lifegain saved me in game 3, he conceded after knowing he didn't have enough lands to kill me
Round 3 vs UW Tron 2-0 Win
-Turn 3 Karn both games, followed by chains of worldbreakers with sanctums, TKS was good from seeing their hand and playing around counter spells
Round 4 vs Burn 0-2 Loss
-Played terribly, i haven't played this in a while during the eldrazi winter, so i played awfully. Game 2 was better with lifegain but way too many misplays on my end
-I will always be wary about using ancient stirrings during this matchup, passed by two thragtusks in the 2nd game
Round 5 vs Allies 2-0 Win
-Couldn't deal with the all the removal
-brought in Nature's claim in game 2 for stoney silence, was the right call
I like the deck, I'd like to fit in 1 More warping wail or TKS somewhere, but I do like having the 2nd Ugin in the SB. Really not sure. The firespouts haven't been
as slow as I thought they would be, and the 3 damage has come up against zoo and actually came up in allies in the above match as well. I have lots of zoo at my own local meta
so I'm keeping them for my case.
I'd like more practice vs: affinity, infect, and burn. I feel like the burn matchup although difficult based on my last 2 games is winnable, and i feel pretty solid vs affinity.
Against infect, honestly still feel pretty hopeless, having lost twice today to that deck.
Edit- Thinking about dropping 1 anti burn card - so a baloth for a warping wail.

whats up with no wurmcoil engine in the deck. wurm is a strong card against them.
also, i think you need some pithing needle in the board. There is never i time im not happy to see on of them

I wanted to see if the deck still felt alright without them especially with adding in world breakers and TKS. After playing
and being reminded that Wurmcoil is still a more than valid option I've added it back in. As for pithing needle, its a
valid SB option, I've played quite a bit with the above list since posting, and haven't really missed it too much. Aggro overall
is much more prevalent in my meta. I've updated my list, and if i feel like i need to bring in Pithing needle I'll probably drop
a thragtusk for it.
What do you guys think of a single waste in the mono green eldrazi tron list? It allows us to play thought knot through a blood moon and can still be fetched from a ghost quarter/path to exile, but it makes getting green mana a bit harder.
What do you guys think of a single waste in the mono green eldrazi tron list? It allows us to play thought knot through a blood moon and can still be fetched from a ghost quarter/path to exile, but it makes getting green mana a bit harder.
You already have plenty of ways to remove Blood Moon in your main deck, so between that and your sideboard Nature's Claims, I think you're fine. Your deck also has a better chance of sticking a turn three (or two) TKS to rip the Moon as well. Best to playtest and find out for sure, though. Do you plan on playing your list at the Indy SCG Open?
Since I live in Indy, there's no way I'm missing out on this one. After playtesting and analyzing the post-States meta, here is my current list:
This list gives me game against pretty much everything, and focuses more heavily on being able to compete with Scapeshift, Burn, Affinity, Infect, and Melira Company. It's also solid against Zoo and Merfolk, and by its nature goes well against midrange and control.
I've come to respect Pithing Needle more than I had in the past, but against the field as it looks to be for the Open, Warping Wail seems much better. The ability to counter Scapeshift, Living End, and Ancestral Vision is great, and it can also stop Molten Rain or the dreaded Crumble to Dust. The other two abilities are also conditionally useful (Infect immediately comes to mind), and it curves well.
Surgical Extraction plays nicely off of those countered Warping Wail spells, and gives me some real teeth in the mirror match. One-to-one, it's less useful than Relic in a few matches (Dredge, Storm, Living End), but since Warping Wail also comes in against several of those matches, there's more play overall against those types of decks.
Ugin #2 is there just because it hoses so many popular decks so hard. Being a repeatable sweeper and a potential win-con is just too good to pass up, and it is extra spicy with TKS since those have comes-into-play triggers. I wanted to find room for at least a single World Breaker, but I think that I'm solid enough against control and midrange that I wouldn't want to give up anything against the faster decks that are more popular. I will test more, and if I feel I need something more against control in particular, I might cut my second Forest or third Wurmcoil to see if that helps. Wurmcoil's so good against Jund, though, and preferred against Burn and Zoo, so for now, that's just how it goes.
With Zoo and Nacatl variants of Burn, you'd think that I'd be moving away from Pyroclasm more toward Firespout. The reason I haven't is that the lines with TKS and Pyroclasm together work wonderfully to buy me enough time to get my real stabilizers online, and I don't want to give more ground to Infect, Bogles, or Affinity, as that single turn can make all the difference in the world.
So that's my list, though it's subject to change over the next few weeks. How about it? Who else will be showing up to compete in Indy and show that the rumors of this deck's demise have been greatly exaggerated?
I will not be in Indy, but good luck! This is similar to the list I want to run at GPLA, but am iffy on the SB. If you do not mind taking some notes during the tourney, I would love to hear about how things worked for you after!
I'm going to try replacing a spellskite and a firespout in my sideboard for 2 sudden shocks and see how that goes this week online and at my local meta which has a lot of infect.
Edit: Meant dropping 1 firespout and 1 thragtusk. Current SB looks like this-
Personally, I would play a full playset of map instead of sylvan scrying. Map gets under turn 2 counters and doesn't require colored mana.
Otherwise, the list looks pretty solid. It has the traditional Gr core, and since the Eye ban, lots of people have been experimenting with different flex cards.
Went 4-0 tonight, yay. 2-1 against Melira Company, 2-1 versus BW Eldrazi and Taxes (good match with Chalupacabra), 2-0 over Abzan Liege, and 2-0 to take it against Affinity. Ugin was a house against all but Affinity out of the board. Warping Wail and Surgical never made appearances.
After it was over, I tested against Living End, with the board swap of -4 Pyroclasm, +2 Wail, +2 Surgical. To be blunt, it wasn't good enough. Relic is so much better in that match it's not even close.
This leaves me bringing those four cards out, and bringing back three Relics and 1-2 of something else in as well. I really need to test against the various versions of Scapeshift to see how much better my adjustments have made the match. If that ends up decently favorable, I might go back to Pithing Needles. If not, Crumble to Dust or Warping Wail will make the cut.
How does everyone feel about Ugin main vs. side? I currently have mine main, but have definitely considered putting it in the side and stepping back up to 4 pyroclasm.

Ugin is a meta call. If your meta is full of decks that are resistant to the -X or kill faster than than you can get to the mana to cast it, then Ugin loses a lot of appeal (not all of it because Ghostfire is still a great effect to have).
Right now, I like him in the main, and from what I've seen around, a lot of other people do as well.

Also, all hail our beloved Tron, we got some good results this weekend, 3 Tron decks on top 32, beeing 2 of then on top 10. Joe Lossett got 2nd, sad thing is, he lost for a Coco deck, a good MU for us !!
Hey guys, my buddy just pulled Ad Nauseum out of nowhere, caught me off guard, and I lost horribly. I checked their primer, and understand the deck a bit better, but the only deck they mentioned having trouble with was BG/x. What, if anything, can we do about this deck? Is it just use Karn to keep them off of mana? Any advice on this matchup is appreciated. It's not that I mind losing, but he is newer to the game. I don't want to give him an inferior run

Use karn to hit their mana sources, thought knot-seer for some hand disruption that can keep them off the combo. Still not the best matchup although you can also pithing needle lightning storm to keep them off one win condition

Be aware that they can/do use alternate win conditions as well. I lost in the league to an Ad Nauseum deck after landing a pithing needle. He drew his deck, cast Laboratory Maniac, then drew a card.
