really having second thoughts about atarka's command but maybe i haven't done enough research...have you guys have had success with the command? any recent top finishes?
I removed a searing blaze from the main and added a 3ed lightning helix. I've found that having 2 blazes is awkward in the opening 7 so I've cut 1. Also added my 12th fetch, as well as changed the sideboard slightly. And biggest of all, I've replaced skullcrack in the main for Atarka's command.
Pretry much my exact list except I have Smash to Smithereens in the SB instead of extra Skullcrack (not as much GWx in my meta currently, but there is affinity).
I've come to the realization that the core cards of competitive Burn are about 95% of the actual deck, with only 5% of the deck being flex spots for meta calls. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I'll be doing a lot of testing to see what works best in my meta. Right now I seem to be doing pretty good with this variation of the deck, beating - in a best of 3- merfolk, Black devotion, BW tokens, and affinity. There's also twin, abzan, infect and of course the mirror but I haven't played in a LGS tourney in a while so I haven't tested this variation of the deck in that setting yet.
Generally speaking most of the flex spots come in the sideboard. It has to do with what percentage you expect each match up to be, and how much help do you need to win.
This past Friday I got paired against TWO SOUL SISTERS decks! Not looking for advice, just wanted to share because it was so funny for all the wrong reasons. It is so fringe and I somehow found the only two in the room haha

I played u/w merfolk, 8-rack, and zoo then went draw, draw.
Top 8 was 0-2 vs abzan liege playing lingering souls, finks, and siege rhino maindeck
Game 1 he has double path for my dudes killing my swiftspear and a lavamancer after just one activation. I am 1 damage short of killing him after he siege rhinos.
Game 2 he chalices on turn 2 for 1, then goes finks, into voice, into smiter. I am stuck sitting on path, shard volley, and lava spike in hand. Sure enough I am 6 damage short of killing him. Was not expecting the chalice so I didn't bring in any revelry.
I can't feel confortable about Shard Volley. i know is a "finisher" but for that instance isn't a ebtter option to run something else more...reliant? like Skullcrack to ensure the damage race and win?
I know 1 cmc > 2 cmc but if you don't your opponent with that Volley, it should be pretty bad.
Damn why can't we have a Bolt with delve? it's so unfair!
Command has pretty much replaced skullcrack (unless you sideboard it). Command offers so much more then what skullcrack did. So I was wondering if now with my Jund Burn deck, I could use 2x Abrupt Decay in the sideboard. I think the mana wouldn't be constant enough though, since red mana is the main mana source for a burn deck.

It increases your chances of having 1-mana spells handy to combo with a couple Goblins/Swiftspears and Command. Aka the turn 3 kill.
Also, it's basically bolt 5-6, given any lands past 4 are mostly useless (4th isn't even that important, though casting 2x 2-drops is a thing).
Bonus add-on: casting it adds 2 cards to graveyard for Lavamancer to nom.
Generally not played in more than a 2-of as its not the best spell to have multiples.
Kinda sort of plays out a bit like Fireblast, albeit decidedly worse than the best burn spell ever.

So far, I've beaten Infect (2-1).
Edit: Went 2-1.
I beat the Burn mirror in R2, but lost to Abzan Aggro in R3. I should've mulliganed in Game 3.
